Repurposing Blog Content

Dotty Scott walks through a workflow for turning one piece of content into many formats using Descript, Canva, Midjourney, and other tools. Transcribe video to blog post, create graphics, adjust aspect ratios for TikTok and YouTube, use canonical URLs for SEO, and delegate scheduling to VAs to amplify reach.

One of my favorite things to do is repurpose content. Why is that? It's easier to take content you've already created and use it in a different way than it is to come up with unique content for every single platform that you want to put content on. A lot of times my content starts with a video, just like this one. And then I will take this video and I'll put it into a program like Descript is the flavor of video I'm using now, or editor I'm using now. Another one is Subtitle. I also really love that one. And when I upload it, it will transcribe that video for me and it will give me a script of everything I said in the video. I can take that script, I'll modify it a little bit, take out any ands and ums or expand on something where I should have maybe said more on a video, but I wanted to keep it under a certain amount of time. And I'll take that script and I'll create a blog post. I will create my YouTube description from that script. In the blog post. Like sometimes I start my process with my blog post and then I'll create a video afterwards, which is what I did in this very instance right now. Blog post came first. Now you can take that blog post and maybe you made 3 to 5 important points in whatever it is that you were talking about. You can go into a program like Canva and you can take the headlines of each of those points. And put it into a graphic that you create on Canva. Or use a cool tool like Midjourney or Leonardo AI or DALL-E or any of the other image AIs, create an image, put the text on there, and voilà, you've got 3 to 5 social media posts that can, oh yeah, all link to your article. On your blog, and hopefully in that blog you're promoting or selling something that you do, a course or a service or a product, anything like that. So now you've got 3 to 5 social media posts and they all link to your blog. You can also take this same blog article and go to a company called Medium and repost it exactly as is. You don't even need to change it. Exact posting. You can give it a canonical URL to your original blog post on your website, and that will help with your SEO. And there's other article posting places online that you can do this with. Uh, so now you've got your blog post and 3 to 5 different places that you've posted the same article or snippets of that article. You've got 3 to 5 different social media posts that you've created that you can put out through Facebook and Instagram and LinkedIn, any social media platform that you choose. You can create a video talking about whatever this particular blog post is talking about, and it goes up on YouTube. You can take it into Descript, an editor like Descript, and you can change the format so it's vertical instead of horizontal. Or vice versa, or make it square and then put it out on TikTok or any of the other video platforms out there. So you can take one idea that you thoroughly write out and get a ton of content for promoting your business and being visible and just being known for your needed. Getting it out there instead of taking the time to write 5 to 10 more articles. Now you're really taking the one that you may have written and creating 5 to 10 to 15 to 20 different types of content. From that same original piece. Way more efficient, way more effective, and it will help you in your marketing way more than taking the time to write multiple articles. I'm not saying don't write multiple articles. I'm saying write one, do all of the marketing for that article. Everything that you create goes back to that article. Then write another one and you will have a constant flow of information that can go out in social media. I hear businesses say all the time, I don't want to post in social media. I don't want to take the time to create all of this content that's going to have to go out there. Duh. Create it once and then you can even say, here, VA, here's the article. Create me 5 visual tiles that will go into all of the social media platforms. Put it on my scheduler and get them out there, or however you want to do it. Repurposing. Content is so much easier and more time effective and just effective in general than it is to be constantly creating more and more original new content. Give it a try. Let me know how it works for you.
