Mike Lyons teaches a hands-on course on using AI to understand customers. You'll work with real data, build prompts in ChatGPT, and solve a recurring case study about customer churn at a company called Technova. The course emphasizes learning to question AI outputs and develop your own judgment.

Well, hey there. I'm absolutely stoked that you're here with me for this course. I mean, this is like one of my favorite courses to teach. And I'm just really excited to work with you through everything that's happening with AI and how you can use it to understand your customers in ways that, well, they really weren't even possible just even two years ago. You're about to dive into something completely different. This isn't your typical online course where you sit back and kind of watch slides while someone reads bullet points at you. No, this is, this is going to be hands on, intensive work and that's going to flip how you think about your customers. You're going to learn how to make AI work for you, not the other way around. Over the next few hours, you're going to get your hands dirty with customer data. You'll use AI to uncover customer insights that most companies might miss. And you'll walk away with actual skills you can use Monday morning. But here's what I need you to understand right up front. This course, it demands something from you. You can't just sort of passively consume this content. You're going to learn how to train AI, how to ask it the right questions, and how to interrogate every answer that it gives you. Because AI, it's certainly powerful, but it can be powerfully wrong. Wrong, Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. Yes, it can spot patterns that humans miss, but it can also confidently give you complete garbage if you don't know how to guide it. Okay, every lesson in this course, well, it builds on the last one. We start by understanding who your customers really are, not just who you think they are. And then we'll dig into what they actually do versus what they say they do. We'll design ways to collect feedback that won't annoy your customers. And finally, we'll turn all those findings into business decisions that you can test in your environment. You'll be working with Technova, a software company struggling with customer churn and endless feature requests. Their project management tool, taskflow, has about 3,000 users, but they're losing customers and can't figure out why. My goal is, by the end of the course, you'll know exactly how to use AI to help solve problems, just like Technovas, but only if you put the work in. I'm not just going to teach you theory, I'm going to help you develop judgment. The kind of judgment that lets you look at AI generated customer insights and know which ones to trust and which ones to question. Each exercise will build on your ability to use AI as a tool, not a crutch. Speaking of using AI, let me introduce you to Ask Mike, my digital clone. This isn't just any chatbot. No. I've trained it on all of the course materials, my videos, blog posts, newsletters, LinkedIn content. Heck, every podcast I've ever been on is in there as well. Well, Ask Mike brings broader perspectives to help you connect the dots between different concepts that might not be obvious at first. And so throughout the course, you'll see these Ask Mike activities and interactions where you'll answer questions and build prompts and take those prompts to your own AI tool like ChatGPT. There's going to be a lot of copying and pasting and hands on work with these tools, so you need to get pretty comfortable using ChatGPT or similar platforms because that's where the real learning happens. So I encourage you to dive deep into these Ask Mike interactions. Don't just kind of go through the motions. No, really engage with the responses you get. You'll discover things that you didn't expect. I'm sure of it. Here's the best part. If you don't like what you get back, well, tweak your approach and try it again. That's how you're going to learn to make AI work for you. The companies that are winning today, they're not the ones with the best guesses about what their customers want. No, they're the ones with the best insights. The best insights come from combining AI pattern recognition power with human judgment and your critical thinking. So here's my question for you. What do you want to get out of this? Because what you put into this course, well, it'll directly determine what you take away. If you're ready to think deeply and question assumptions and do the hard work of understanding customers, well, then what are you waiting for? Let's jump into that next lesson.
