Instructor Mike Lyons introduces a two-part adaptive planning exercise for Project Venus (Technova's payroll system). Learners must create a release plan by assigning given user stories into sprints (each sprint capacity = 10 story points), export and upload a PDF to receive feedback, then adapt the plan for an unexpected change and re-upload the revised plan.

Albert Einstein famously said, the measure of intelligence is the ability to change and not everything's going to go according to plan. That's the whole point of adaptive planning. Today we're diving into a two part exercise that will challenge your adaptive planning skills and showcase the importance of flexibility in agile project management. You're back at Technova. You're working on Project Venus, our revolutionary payroll system. Your task is to create a detailed release plan based on the roadmap you just created and aligned to our project vision. Here's what you'll do. In the first step, grab a copy of the release plan and you can choose either Google Slides or Microsoft PowerPoint. In that release plan, you'll be presented with a set of user stories. Your job is to drag these stories into sprints, creating a comprehensive release plan. Now remember to consider dependencies between stories. Sprint capacity each sprint can only handle 10 story points and the overall flow and logic of feature development. Once you've completed your release plan, save it as a PDF. That's important. Upload it into the provided interface add. After uploading it, you'll get feedback on the release plan, and this feedback will help you understand the strengths of your plan and areas for improvement. Once you've completed that feedback loop, you'll move on to the second part of this exercise and without giving it too much away, be prepared for some unexpected changes. Now, once you've completed any changes based on the surprise twist, you'll save it again, save it as a PDF and go ahead and upload it. Remember, your initial release plan is important, but equally crucial is your ability to adjust when new information comes to light. All right, are you ready to put those release planning skills to the test? Let's get started with creating your plan for Project Venus.
