A New Era of Holistic Education: ShivYog’s Historic Contribution at IIT Ropar

The video, presented by Aarti Samani, details a landmark contribution by the ShivYog family to IIT Ropar. Dr. Ishan Avadhut Shivananand has inaugurated the Dr. Ishan Avadhut Shivananand Hall of Yogic Sciences & Holistic Development, a research and innovation hub dedicated to mental‑health and holistic well‑being. The hall will promote long‑term scientific study of ancient yogic and meditation traditions, integrating them with modern neuroscience and psychology to create accessible, authentic, and sustainable mental‑health solutions. An initial fund of ₹40 lakh seeded a merit‑based ShivYog scholarship that annually supports ten outstanding undergraduate students—especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds—with a yearly contribution of roughly ₹1.6 crore. Dr. Shivananand, also a faculty member of IIT Ropar’s Center of Excellence for Holistic Well‑Being, has directly impacted over 25,000 students through his “Rise Resilience in Students Every Day” program, offering practical tools for stress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. The initiative embodies ShivYog’s belief that education transcends degrees, fostering consciousness, compassion, and scientific vision, and demonstrates that ancient Indian knowledge is a foundation for future science.
