In this guided meditation, the instructor leads listeners through a Samadhi practice drawn from Chapter 16 (“Two Birds in One Tree”) of the book The Practice of Immortality. The session begins with a thorough relaxation and body‑awareness scan, moving attention from the soles of the feet up through the spine to the crown of the head, and inviting awareness of sensations, thoughts, and emotions. Listeners are then asked to visualize the Supreme Being as pure divine energy positioned before them, using the heart as a gateway. A simple 1‑2‑3 breath count is introduced: inhalation draws the divine light into the heart, exhalation sends the practitioner’s consciousness outward toward the Supreme Being. Repeated cycles deepen the breath, encouraging the practitioner to let go of the personal “I” and merge with the divine light, cultivating oneness and gratitude. The meditation concludes with a silence phase, gratitude affirmation, and a gentle return to ordinary awareness. The instructor closes by referencing page 183 of the source text, describing the historical lineage of Shiv Yog practices (over a thousand years), inviting listeners to join a community practice, and encouraging purchase or sharing of the book.
Chapters
I salute you. I salute the divine within all of you. Today in the practice of immortality, we go to Chapter 16, one of my favorite chapters of the book, Two Birds in One Tree, and we practice the samadhi after Chapter 16. It is one of the most powerful sadhanas from my childhood, and it is quite easy. But do not be fooled by its simplicity. It is extremely powerful and has the power to reveal the inner cosmos to a practitioner. So let us start this powerful sadhana. Relax. All sadhanas begin with relaxation. We can relax through body awareness. Close your eyes. Try to sit in a comfortable posture. Relax the muscles of your body.
Deep breath.
And as you relax, take your awareness to the sole of your feet. Feel the ground beneath you. Let the awareness rise up to the knees, to the hips, rising up from the spinal cord all the way to the top of the head. Try to increase your awareness. Feel the clothes on your body, the hair on your skin. Feel the tongue in your mouth, the eyelid on your eyes. Try to feel the air of your breath on your upper lips as you exhale. Try to feel the beating heart in your chest. Let the awareness increase even more. Feel the temperature of the body and the temperature around you. And from the physical, start becoming aware of your thoughts and emotions. How do you feel in the present moment? And as you can feel your whole body, now is the time to command, just Relax. And as you relax, in front of you, visualize the Supreme Being as form of divine energy in front of you. Visualize your God in his purest form as energy in front of you. Then as you visualize your God, try to focus on your heart. Accepting the heart as a gateway to your body. Feel the doorway of your heart opening as you visualize, manifest, awaken, and accept the Supreme Being in front of you. Now focus on the breath. There will be a simple count: 1, 2, 3. With this count, inhale and feel as you inhale. The light of the Supreme Being through the doorway of the heart entering the body. And as you exhale, feel your own consciousness flowing towards the Supreme Being through the doorway of the heart. When you inhale with the count 1, 2, 3, Accept the divine light within you, and when you exhale with the count of 3, surrender to the divine light in front of you. Take a full breath in.
Full breath in with the 3 count, as deeply as you can expand like a balloon. Complete exhalation with the 3 count. With each breath, meditate as if you are becoming less of yourself and more of the divine being. With each exhalation, you let go of the I. With each inhalation, you allow the divinity to enter within. With each exhalation, become less of yourself. With each inhalation, become more of the divine. Your breath becoming more powerful, and with each powerful breath, the practice becoming stronger.
Continue to breathe in this manner and visualize you and the divine being in front of you is becoming one with each breath. With each breath, let go of the duality. Allow the self to merge with the divine light and allow the Supreme Being to merge into you with each breath. Let go of the duality. Let there be oneness. Accept this oneness. Meditate on this oneness. Visualize where you are sitting now, you do not exist. It is just the Divine Being. Smiling, radiating love and compassion all around. Continue the divine breath. Inhale, and from the heart, let the whole universe enter within. Exhale, and let the self merge with the universe. For the last few times, as deep as you can.
Relax. Feel the divine light flowing within you. Now is the time. Let go of your breath. Let go of the consciousness. Meditate on this silence. Let your heart be filled with gratitude to the Divine Light. Gratitude for this peace. Gratitude for this relaxation. Gratitude for this energy that now flows through your veins. Slowly come back, move your fingers, rub your palms, touch your hands to your beautiful face, and open your lovely eyes. When you are practicing on your own, or if you would like to delve deeper into The practice we did right now, page number 183, the practice of immortality. These meditation modalities took us a long time to develop and master, about 1,000 or so years. Shiv Yogis have been in their ashrams mastering these modalities and teaching them to the next generation. These modalities have been responsible for the enlightenment of many in the Shiv Yog lineage, and I'm very happy that now I have the ability to share these practices with all of you. If you would like, there are many such practices in the book, The Practice of Immortality. But every single day you can come, and if for some time you would like to do these practices with me and this lovely community, you are most welcome. And I request you, anybody who you love, who you see so very stressed, invite them to this practice. It is a global phenomenon. People from around the world join in, and we definitely have space for your loved one as well. Please be part of this journey while we all meditate, while we all send positivity to each other, while we all learn resilience to the stress and anxieties of life. And that being said, thank you so very much for joining. And in the end, as always, The Practice of Immortality is out, available wherever books are sold. And if you would like to support our work, you're most welcome to buy the book, gift the book, review the book. Everything helps. Thank you so very much. I salute you, and I salute the Divine within all of you. Namah Shivaya.
