How to be a happy human being

A speaker draws on 27 years in a Himalayan ashram to explain happiness through a window-versus-mirror metaphor: trauma coats the mind like black paint, turning outward wonder inward. Meditation, practiced as "sugar in milk," can strip away that coating and restore a hopeful view of the world.

I salute you. I salute the good within you. Now the question is, what is the difference between happiness and sorrow? It's the same of what is the difference between a mirror and a window. You see, Both of them are glass. Yet when you look through a window, you can look at the beauty of the whole world. You can look at the trees, you can see the grass, the sun, the clouds. You can be inspired. But when you look into a mirror, you can't see anything but your own self. But more than that, what is the difference between a window and a mirror is that if you take a window and you paint one side of it black, It becomes a mirror. The same, apply it to your own psyche. What is happiness? Happiness is the power to see something that is beyond the experience. Happiness is the power to see a person beyond than that person just being the person. And that person, you can see him to be the love of your life. Happiness is more to do with the mind. Than it is to do with the experience in itself. Because your mind creates the anticipation, your mind creates the happiness, your mind creates the sense of wonder. If you look at it, a toy is just a toy, but for a child, that toy is magical, that toy is a companion. It is the mind that is giving the value, making a rock into a masterpiece. And happiness is when you have that window mindset, when you can look into that experience, look beyond that experience in itself and define it in a much more beautiful manner. But what happens in life? Some traumatic incidents happen, some negative emotion happens, some belief system enters into our life And that negative experience acts like a coating of black paint. And slowly as we grow up, we start to realize that our window is now becoming a mirror. And a person who's sad starts to become sadder. A person who's angry starts to become angrier. Why? Because now he's frustrated that life was like a window and now it is like a mirror. A negative person will look around And he will not see the beauty of the world. He will see everything as being negative. An angry person will find reasons to be angry about. And why is this so? It is because not that the world is such a bad place, simply because we are not looking at the world now. We are looking at a reflection of our own self. The first 27 years of my life I spent in a monastery, in an ashram. I was blessed to be taught by one of the greatest Himalayan yogis, Dr. Avdoot Shivani. And when I was there in the monastery, I talked with millions and millions of people, and I realized that when they came to an ashram and they wanted to meditate, It was simply because that now they had enough of the mirror mindset and they wanted freedom from their past. They wanted freedom from this layer of black metaphorical emotional package that they had, and they wanted to once again experience the beautiful window of life so they could see the wonders that lie around And all my life's work has been to make these protocols and these methods that I learned during my time in the ashram easy. Because today I realize that people, yes, they want to grow, they want to work upon themselves, but sometimes it is so very tough if they don't have a way. A person may want to lose weight and he may go to the gym, and if he doesn't get the proper proper guidance, he will get demotivated and he will stop. A person who wishes to meditate, if the right methods are not given to him, then I've seen sometimes people get stressed even about meditation because then the question is, what am I doing? Am I doing it right? Will it help me? Is it supposed to be in the same manner? Why am I not getting the experience that I read about? And the thing that was supposed to get rid of stress is the thing that now starts to give you more stress. So my whole life's purpose has been simple. Let meditation be something that is beautiful, something that gives you happiness, something that acts like sugar in milk. And for the last 27 years, I've worked with my guru, with my father, to create these wonderful, wonderful protocols so that every single mirror can become a window. Every single person can be happy, but in a much more practical manner, in a much more easier manner, and in a much more happier manner. Meditation has to be the celebration in life. And that is what I teach, and that is the protocols that I have developed. Get the highest and the maximum in that amount of time that you are giving to this protocol so that you can grow and evolve in life. So I hope very soon I will meet you Very soon I will teach you, and very soon you will be part of this beautiful protocols that will change your life. I hope every mirror becomes a window. Bless you. May you have a beautiful day.
