And I'd love to know more about who they are.
We have stories of people like Buddha changing Angulimal. Angulimal is a dacoit, a serial killer, a psychopath. In a matter of seconds. That transformation can happen in seconds. You can read 1,000 books and your life will not be transformed. You can watch 5,000 YouTube videos and your brain will rot rather than evolving. But once this fire is shared with you, in a matter of seconds, your life can change, your beliefs can change. You can let go of your negative afflictions, addictions, and come out the other side one with the divinity. So a guru is that person. The lineage of guru is that person who carries that light, that first light, that first light from the tathagata that can only be transferred from the previous generation of those first seekers.
