In this first-person testimonial, Janki, a newly‑graduated veterinarian from South Africa, describes her seva experience at the Alwar Gau Shala. She thanks Guru Babaji and Ishanji, explains the sanctuary’s mission of rescuing roughly 1,200 cows from abattoirs and poor conditions, and notes that the animals are thriving. She recounts a specific case where a newborn calf showed signs of dehydration and pre‑weaning bacterial diarrhea; the team administered antibiotics, fluids, and dextrose, after which the calf recovered and resumed drinking milk. Janki concludes with an enthusiastic invitation for young Shiv Yogis to volunteer, emphasizing the broader community service opportunities offered by Shivirk.

Namaste bhai. My name is Janki and I'm from South Africa. I recently graduated as a veterinarian and I had the divine opportunity to come and do seva at the Alwar Gau Shala. I'm so grateful to our Guru Babaji and Ishanji for doing this great work and all the sadhaks that are involved in doing this great work. They rescue cows from different backgrounds, from abattoirs, from bad living conditions and bring them and give a good life to them. The cows are looking healthy. Many of them are eating well. The calves are also looking in great health. So I'm so grateful that these animals are taken such good care of. There's 1,200 cows on this property, and that says a lot about how the cows are managed. All of them are doing well and eating well and live a very good life. Um, today we saw that one of the calves were not doing well, and the goshala has so many beautiful medications and all these other products that are available to help these calves. So we saw that this cow was a bit dehydrated and was looking a bit pale. It was recently born and I suspect has been suffering from calf diarrhea, which is a common bacterial infection that calves get pre-weaning. So we gave it some antibiotics, we gave it some fluid and some dextrose, and the cow is looking happy and is already up and running and drinking milk. So it's looking good for this calf. So I'm so grateful for this opportunity, and I ask that all young people, all young Shiv Yogis, come and maybe do seva. And if you can't get involved in the goats, Insha'Allah, get involved in other ways because Shivirk offers such a big opportunity to all of us to provide and give back to our community. Thank you. Namah Shivaya.
