This is something I feel like military spouses sleep on.
It's massive. I think it's everything. I think mentorship is the secret sauce.
I could not have made it through the transition without mentorship from people who had gone through that process.
Everybody that I met in the Salesforce ecosystem was always genuine, was always like, how can I help you? Let me tell you about my struggle. Oh, you passed the certification? It took me 3 times to pass the certification. And just hearing their stories really builds that belief that, oh, I really can do this.
Networking has got me my role to developer and from developer to engineer. You know, you bond over something. What do you do? This is what I do. And before I knew it, I was offered a job.
Networking is, is critical. There's really no substitute for lived and personal experience. There's no substitute for creating valuable relationships.
Veterans within our company are willing to give back their time to support other veterans who are going through that same process as well.
The magical part of it has been to allow I was able to allow those early challenges in my military spouse life to have an impact on helping other people. Now these folks have their own careers, they're now mentoring other people, lifting other people up, sending the elevator back down, and it just created this, like, amazing ripple effect.
I had another chance to meet up with an individual mentor one-on-one. He made me better because he cared about how successful I was at that point in my life, and it's a relationship we still carry today. I don't know that I would have been able to see a clear path to a successful transition.
