Veterans in the Salesforce Military Program talk about rebuilding after service. They prioritize stable schools for kids, rediscovering who they are outside the military, and showing their families that both career and presence at home are possible.
My daughter went to 7 schools in 7 years, and my son will go first grade through high school in the same school district, and they, and they live in the same house.
The military asks so much of you that you have to spend some significant time figuring out who you are on the outside after it, and the people who help you negotiate that are your family.
There's life beyond work, and so finding time to keep your entire self present healthy and capable is more important than ever.
It's allowing us to provide better for our children. You know, for my girls as well, there's a lot of talk around like whether you should be a career woman or whether you should be a stay-at-home mom, everything like that. I really wanted them to have this example that yes, you can have a family and you can still succeed. Sky's the limit if you're determined.
I wanna show my girls that Even through the challenges, you can still pave your own way. And also patient. It took a while to get here, but here I am. So be patient, but keep in mind everything you're doing, you're moving forward.
Family can be more than who you're born with. And the Salesforce military space for me has been another extension of that, where I have people in my life now I wouldn't have them there otherwise. That ability to take what could be a kind of sterile work relationship, but to see that connection and to say, you are part of the family that I choose.
