Lightning at Your Pace | Salesforce

Did you know you can start rolling out Lightning Experience to just a subset of your users? This approach allows you to start small, show success, and then iterate. Start by identifying a small group of pilot users. Use permission sets and the switching feature to control which UI these users start in and whether or not they can switch back and forth to Classic. After launching this pilot group, collect feedback, then fine tune things and kick off the next group. This way, you can roll out Lightning Experience at a pace that's right for your business. Let's look at the tools you can use and the different options you have. Standard Profiles already have the Lightning Experience user Permission enabled if you have custom profiles, create a permission set that contains the Lightning Experience user permission and assign it to the users in your pilot group. Whether users are enabled by a standard profile or a permission set, Lightning Experience enabled users stay in Salesforce Classic and automatically get the switcher so they can switch themselves. When they're ready. To help your pilot group hit the ground running, you can set it up so they immediately get Lightning Experience as their default experience. If you're in Classic, click Get Started in the Lightning Experience Migration Assistant from Setup in Lightning Experience, type Lightning into the Quick Find box and go to Lightning Experience. Select the Set Up Users tab, then click Switch Users. You see at a glance which users have permission to access Lightning Experience and are eligible to switch, which users are already using Lightning Experience as their default environment, and which users cannot be switched because they don't have the Lightning Experience user permission yet. Select the users you want to switch to Lightning Experience now and click Save. You cannot use this tool to switch users back to Salesforce Classic, but don't worry because users can switch themselves back as needed using the switcher. That is, unless you don't want them to switch back. You can control that too, by turning off the switcher. The switcher is controlled by a user profile permission, so just add that permission to your custom profiles or permission sets when you enable this permission. Users with the affected profiles or permission sets see Lightning Experience the next time they log into Salesforce and they no longer see the Switch to Salesforce Classic link in their profile menus. With all these options, you can control exactly who gets access to Lightning Experience and whether or not they can switch back to Salesforce Classic.
