Creating accessible content is how you can connect with a wider audience, including those who are hard of hearing or speak a different language. For video, this begins with captions or subtitles. Captions are transcription of dialogue and audio cues shown as on screen text. They assist those who are hard of hearing. Subtitles also appear as on screen text, but are translation of the video's dialogue and into the viewer's native language. They don't often include audio cues. HubSpot video allows you to upload subtitles and captions, making it easier than ever to create accessible video content. Let's review how this works in your portal. Navigate to marketing files and templates, then select Files, locate your video, and click the title to open your file details on the right. You'll follow the same process for uploading both captions and subtitles. First, let's upload captions to this video with English dialog. Select Subtitles, then click Upload Subtitle. Select the Subtitle language. Drop down to choose your language. Then click Select Subtitle File and locate your file on your computer. Note HubSpot video only accepts VTT files, so make sure it's in that format. Finally, click Save. You'll find your chosen language and linked file listed under Subtitles. If we look at the video from your audience's perspective, you'll see a closed captions icon at the bottom right of your video. Click this icon and you'll see your chosen language. Select the language and you'll enable captions for your video. Now let's say we want to add Spanish subtitles to this video. Navigate back to your Files tool to follow the same process. Note you can only upload one subtitle or caption per video. Delete existing captions or subtitles by clicking your video title, selecting Subtitles, and clicking Remove. Now we can upload our Spanish subtitles using the same process. Select Upload Subtitle and choose Spanish as the subtitle language. Click Select Subtitle File, locate your file on your computer, and click Save. You'll find your chosen language and linked file listed under Subtitles. Now, from your audience's perspective, enable subtitles by hovering over the closed caption icon and selecting the language. It's as simple as that. Whether you want to include captions or subtitles, you can now prioritize accessibility with HubSpot video.
