The path to equality for all is getting more money in the hands of women. Women don't invest as much as men do. It cost women hundreds of thousands, for some women, a million dollars plus over the course of their lives. And it keeps us from living our fullest lives. If you can earn the returns that investing has driven historically, that gives you many degrees of freedom to leave a job you hate or start the business that you want to. And women today, the number one reason we start businesses is to build the companies in which we want to work. Research tells us is that when there's more money in the hands of women, the economy grows. As we close those equality gaps, those money gaps, nonprofits are better off because women give more money, give a higher percent of their wealth to nonprofits. I try to think about and try to encourage us at Ellevest to always think about where the money is going, what the impact is, what we are supporting.
