A small-business speaker describes how adopting Salesforce transformed their operational processes. They explain that instead of focusing solely on CRM, they use the Salesforce platform to build business processes and data relationships directly (customer orders, purchase orders, outbound shipping, time management, supplies tracking), highlighting speed, low ramp-up for admins, and the ability to implement ideas without large staff.

In our world, you have to deliver faster, you're out. And so we have to be delivering and processes, organizational processes are what make that happen. So when we first got Salesforce eight plus years ago, I didn't know what it could do. But once we realized what it could do, it absolutely changed the way we thought about things. What we found is that anytime we had something we needed to do from a process standpoint or a database standpoint, we direct. We went straight into Salesforce and actually just built it. If we have a need for a business process or store data or to relate data, we build directly on Salesforce platform. So from customer orders to purchase orders to outbound ship orders, we actually do time management on the platform. We track supplies. It is how we define our rules and processes. It's not a big ramp up to bring them up to speed. From an admin standpoint, if you have an idea, you can actually do it without hiring a huge staff to pull it off. When people ask me, well, what do you need Salesforce for? I don't focus on the CRM. You need a platform to run your business.
