A short spoken-word/motivational YouTube segment by Barkus Luckey (and a speaker), reflecting on low motivation, training soreness, and perseverance. The speakers quote Georges St-Pierre on pushing through unmotivated days (‘you don't get better on the days when you feel like going...’) and close with the Japanese proverb ‘fall down seven times, get up eight.’ The tone is informal and encouraging.
Yes.
Good morning my lovelies. For a bit of cold shower philosophy.
On September 25, which in Melbourne we.
Backtracked from glorious 25 to about 11 and pissing down with rain. My body is sore from over training a little bit and I worked late last night in a management meeting and to say I really can't be arsed with it today is an understatement.
But I'm going to give you a little bit of Georges St. Pierre, very, very successful mixed martial artist. This quote was actually read out by my sensei as he was motivated to keep training for karate over zoom earlier in the year when we're all a bit shitty cold and not really that enthused with it all, but he brought out a really great set of quotations and here he goes. Georges St. Pierre says you don't get better on the days when you feel like going. You get better on the days when you don't want to go, but you go anyway. If you can overcome the negative energy coming from your tired body or unmotivated mind, you will grow and become better. It won't be the best workout you have and you won't accomplish as much as what you would usually do when you actually feel good. But that doesn't matter. Growth is a long term game and the crappy days are more important. And I really like that one because I know even as being a pretty motivated and easy to get going person like I feel today, it's bloody hard some days and I don't want to. But as George St Pierre finishes one of his books with a very good Japanese proverb that I love and that is fall down seven times. Get up eight. Stay strong peeps.
Keep going, keep going. Have a wonderful September 25th. Cold shout bossy. Bye for now.
