How To Fix Your Shoulders With Crossover Symmetry Training

Ben Greenfield (host) demonstrates Crossover Symmetry shoulder training in his office to rehabilitate and activate a previously injured shoulder. He explains setup (multiple cables, mounts), demonstrates exercises (external rotation, T/Y/A sequences, bear-hug/retraction-protraction, archery-style pulls) using different resistance levels, mentions included accessories (manual, wall mount, mobility tool), and offers viewers a 10% discount via BenGreenfieldFitness.com.

I almost dropped that. I'm Ben Greenfield. Welcome to my office. I hurt my shoulder last month, so I've been messing around with this new thing called crossover symmetry. So since I have a heavy bag in my office for punching and stuff, this actually worked pretty well. But what crossover symmetry is is this training program kind of looks like this. And you set it up. If you want to come over here, I'll show you how I have this set up. I have three different cables here that I hung, and then there's three other cables on the other side that are very similar. And what the crossover symmetry is designed to do is to heal and activate the shoulders in different movement ranges. So what I'm going to do here is you can hang them from anything. A chain link fence. You know, a lot of pitchers and tennis players will hang from chain link fences. I'm just using a heavy bag. You can use a squat rack, whatever. They even come with wall mounts. But, you know, sample move is, for example, I'll come back like this with my arms, go into external rotation, push for the sky, and then resist on the way back down. So again it's pull, external rotation, reach for the sky and down. Another example of something you can do are as Ts, Ys and A's. Just three Alphabet letters to remember. So for this one, you kind of turn your hands like this and you go into reverse extension here and then you come up into a T and then you come up into a Y and then back down into an A, right? So it's T, Y.
T, A. Another example is you can flip it around. You can even switch to a heavier one. You know, for example, for this one, I'd switch to the 25 resistance. So again, you cross them over like this. So the reason you cross over is it activates your core and also kind of pulls the shoulders back into correct alignment. So if you watch this one, for example, I can put one foot forward, one foot back, go out into a bear hug together, right? And even here I can retract and protract the shoulders if I want to work on protraction, retraction, and then come back. So again, this one would be like out together and back or another common example. This one's really good for archery. I've been doing this one for training for my archery practice is I'll come here, right? And from here I can just go from side to side or if I want, both sides at once. So it's really cool. I really dig this thing. And I've been able to work a ton on my shoulder activation and eliminating all the pain in my shoulders from doing this. So it's called a crossover symmetry. It comes with this little manual and then like a little wall deal. And then it also comes with a mobility piece that you can use for shoulder mobility with a bunch of instructions on how to use this, too, so you can get the whole thing. They're given all of my viewers, watchers, listeners, whatever you want to call it, a 10% discount on all this stuff. And it is camera on me. The discount is.
