You know, a lot of people talk about magnesium before bed for relaxation or for slippery poops the next morning. But what a lot of people don't realize is magnesium can also help out with your hormones, your libido, and your sex life. My name is Ben Greenfield. I'm a biohacker, celebrity trainer, nutritionist, New York Times best selling author, and world renowned speaker. I'm on a constant quest to uncover powerful and practical health hacks to awaken, unlock, and unleash the full potential of the human body, mind and spirit.
Now, the reason for that is because of the interaction between magnesium and your endocrine system, thyroid, testosterone, estrogen, cortisol, and the like. See, magnesium acts to regulate many, many different functions of your endocrine and your hormone system. Thyroid, cortisol, estrogen, testosterone. It plays such a key role in over 300 different reactions within your body that a lot of people just don't understand how much better they can feel from a hormonal standpoint when they begin to use magnesium. For example, did you know magnesium aids in the breakdown of cortisol, one of your body's primary stress hormones? And if we can keep cortisol managed, then what that does is it keeps you a little less anxious, but it can also increase your ability to be able to synthesize things like, let's say, testosterone or estrogen or progesterone. One of the reasons for that is one of the upstream precursors to all these hormones is pregnenolone. And if we're mismanaging cortisol, more pregnenolone is necessary to make cortisol instead of testosterone and estrogen and progesterone. Some of these other libido, recovery energy, and even sexual performance enhancing hormones. Now, insulin is another example. There's actually been some very interesting research on magnesium and insulin. Now, magnesium can actually help significantly to improve insulin sensitivity, especially when you've taken it for several months. Now, that, of course, has implications for things like appetite control, for weight loss. But it turns out that insulin is also a critical component of thyroid and testosterone management. So by controlling insulin, you're producing an impact in addition to the impact magnesium already has on thyroid function and testosterone on your actual insulin levels. Now, many people ask me, how can you naturally increase testosterone? And I tell them, well, vitamin D is important. Boron is important, Zinc is important. Creatine is important. Sunlight, lifting weights, sleep, which magnesium helps. Lowering stress, which magnesium helps. And minerals, which magnesium is. So basically, magnesium fits right into my natural list of recommendations for naturally increasing testosterone. Now, I Don't want to isolate you women out there, although testosterone is important for you. But it turns out that when it comes to PMS symptoms, not that anybody is annoyed by or has ever had to deal with those, magnesium can be a really great tool in your toolbox to help to manage the problematic effects and symptoms of pms. In another study on magnesium in a cohort, this time of older men, magnesium was actually critical in increasing something called dhea, which can be a way of increasing your anabolism, your recovery, your muscle strength, your libido and your testosterone, and then also directly testosterone. So if you dig into some of these studies on PubMed, magnesium goes way beyond things like sleep or managing constipation. Now, many nutritionists and researchers on magnesium believe that it's best to take multiple forms of magnesium. And that's where this product called Magnesium Breakthrough comes in. It's seven different forms of bioavailable magnesium. They've added humic acid to it, they've added fulvic acid to it, they've added a vitamin B6 complex to it, as well as manganese. So when you put all this stuff together, you're actually increasing the bioavailability and efficacy of the magnesium while also producing an impact on everything that I just talked about, right? Sleep, your bowel movements, your testosterone, your estrogen, your progesterone, your dhea, your insulin management, your thyroid. So it really is interesting when you dig into magnesium, how many different effects that it has and the broad range of, I'm going to use a big word here, pleiotropic, I mean, system wide effects, that supplementing is something as simple as magnesium can actually do for you. And I highly recommend if you just want to get all forms of it all at once in one really well formulated supplement, check out Magnesium Breakthrough.
