A short instructional segment teaching how to perform a middle split (straddle) focused on improving hip rotation. Presenters describe using hand support and optionally a raised surface (edge of a couch or block) to slide down from a standing straddle, instructing to turn toes outward and keep butt/hips aligned with ankles while sliding as far as possible.
So now we're gonna do a middle split to work on your straddle and.
Your hip rotation.
Unlike the pancake stretch, we're actually going to start turning our knees.
Towards the ground. So to get into this for you, you're probably going to slide down into it with your hands supporting you in front of you.
And you can use a raised surface in front of you, like the edge of a couch or something higher than the block. But I'm just going to show it to you like this.
You're coming to a standing straddle. You're going to put your hands in front of you, turn your toes to point outward, and then slide straight down with your butt and hips in line with your ankles going as far as you can.
So you may only get.
To here, which is fine. So this is why I want you to have something in front of you that you can support yourself on. And you want to stay square in the hips and not be either too far back or too far forward. You just want to stay right in that area, and you can actually support yourself and hang out here a little bit.
