Ben Greenfield uses vibration devices like Power Plates before lifting to activate muscles and warm up. Research shows vibration warm-ups increase strength and power output, and he says they may help bone density. He does three rounds of a vibration circuit a few times weekly before strength training.

So I'm just starting into a warm up, trying to get my necklace on. As a matter of fact, it's kind of funny because people make fun of me because I wear these necklaces and they apparently like, vibrate with an invisible quantum frequency that charges you up. But that's not what we're talking about today. I like to use vibration sometimes. And so for my warm up, for my strength training workout today, I'm using vibration. I use it a few different ways. I use a power plate over here, I. I use a vibrating bike. And the idea behind vibration, I have a couple articles about this on a podcast on my website, is that oscillatory motion kind of wakes up muscles and activates muscles. And research has shown you can produce more strength and power post vibration than you can if you hadn't used the vibration for a warmup. And there's all sorts of other cool benefits like bone destiny and stuff. But anyway, so I kind of do about three rounds of a circuit of different vibration exercises before I jump into my strength training. Not every time I train, but typically a couple of times a week, I'll hit some vibration before I train. So.
