Transcript of episode 79 of the Bennetbergs podcast (hosts Ben and Bergs) featuring a back-and-forth rapid-fire 'Would you rather' question game covering crypto (Bitcoin, Ethereum, NFTs, DeFi, altcoins), startup/entrepreneurship trade-offs, personal/philosophical hypotheticals (time travel, mind-reading, eternal youth), and lifestyle choices. The episode is informal, recorded in-person, and aimed at entertainment with occasional serious reflections on investing and life priorities.
Chapters
Would you prefer to have the ability to time travel or read minds?
Okay, that's a good question. Read minds.
100%.
Yeah.
Would you rather have an unlimited international first class ticket or never have to pay for food at restaurants?
Oh, oh geez. That's a good question. So bad, man.
It's like everyone segments their life to.
Like work, work and life.
And then which one do you select?
So you're going to have, so you're going to have stables, you're going to have xrp, bnb. Oh, you're going to have Dogecoin, Tron, Heather Cardano, bnb. No way have we had one. Same answer. Welcome back to another episode of the Bennetbergs podcast with your favorite NBA in high school, dropout, talking everything, crypto, business, personal growth. And today, ladies and gentlemen, we have a very exciting episode for you. Bergs and I are in person and we are going back to back rapid fire questions. So good we brought in a co host called ChatGpta and we have got some spicy questions coming at you across investing, entrepreneurship, philosophy, wealth, what have you got any other sort of topics?
These are just wild questions you would ask your mates at the pub.
Okay, this is going to be a pub episode. It's like would you rather A or B style questions? We get one question each. We're going back and forth until someone gets arrested or we say something that we shouldn't have and we get canceled.
So we've got about four minutes.
All right, you want to kick off?
I'll kick off. We'll start, we'll start with, we'll start with some sort of easy ones. We got to be quite, we got to be quick too. Would you rather invest in Bitcoin for its store of value or Ethereum for its smart contract capabilities?
Bitcoin store of value.
Bitcoin, Me too easy.
Would you rather lose your ability to speak or the ability to read?
Ability to read, Ability to speak. Do you want to lose your ability to speak?
Yeah, yeah, right about it. You'd be illiterate.
Yeah, but at least I can talk.
You can talk, but how are you going to learn?
Right?
You'd have to voice to text everything. It'll be crazy. Whereas I could like sign, I could type, I could do other stuff and I could still read.
Yeah, I would listen to it on an audiobook or like through my ears and I can still talk. Okay, that's a good question then.
Would you rather put money into NFTs with a potential high payoff or into defi project for a Steady Yield, farming return.
NFTs.
Oh, God. Defy. I've got a defi.
All right.
Reason being just. I think NFT investment right now is just hugely speculative and I just think defi. I'm so bullish on defi. Can earn a sort of steady return for a little while for me.
Steady return. I'd rather earn that elsewhere.
Okay.
And if the return is too high, it's a scam.
Okay.
It's not worth locking up.
That's fair. That's fair.
NFTs for the culture.
Okay, your turn.
My turn. All right. In the realm of superpowers, would you rather have invisibility or super strength?
Invisibility. Yeah.
Imagine what you get away with. I know. Never pay for a flight.
Yeah.
To anyone's room.
Yeah.
Go like into a bank.
Yeah.
It'd be so good.
Love it. Okay, entrepreneurship, bootstrapping or venture capital? What's the best path for startups? We've done both. This is a hard one.
Yeah. It depends.
I. You gotta choose one.
Okay.
If I'm thinking long term bootstrapping, I'm.
Gonna bootstrapping as well. Because you're forced to make a product, you're not just getting paid to figure it out.
Exactly. You're underpaying.
Yeah.
You're getting no money, you've got no revenue. You have to build something, you have to talk to the market, you have to make it.
Yep.
VC gives you that bit of breathing room. But also you give up control. You might have a board, you have to give up equity.
Agree.
Bootstrapping. If I had to do it all again.
Agree. All right.
Would you rather be a successful artist with a short life or an unknown artist with a long life?
Oh, unknown artist with a long life.
Yeah. I'm not giving up that life now.
Fuck that. I could, I guess. I guess we'll be happy if no one knows me 100%. Yeah.
Startup culture, innovative. So. No, that's a shoe one. Corporate job or entrepreneurship, you know, stability or risk?
Entrepreneurship. Yeah.
Entrepreneurship. Every day of the week.
100. That's just a stage I made in my life.
Yeah.
Would you prefer to have the ability to time travel or read minds?
Read minds. Really.
Think about it. You get to. Okay. Reading minds is pretty cool. Yeah. But if you just had an encounter, you could go back like 20 seconds.
Yeah, that is true.
Imagine like going back to like when the first bitcoin came out, mate.
And loading out that. Oh, that's true.
And how much life you could actually live. I wonder if you're time traveling. If Your body actually stays the same. Like. Or do you like.
Or do you go back? Yeah, like the hot. Hot tub. Diamond hot tubs. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You get time dilation.
Oh, you're right. Actually, I think I changed my mind. I don't want time travel now. AI in businesses. Job creators or job killers 100. Yeah, yeah. Job optimizers. Really?
In an alternate universe, would you rather be a dragon or a unicorn? And why.
Dragon?
Unicorn.
You like unicorns. Dragon might come and just breathe fire down your phone.
Big and everything. Unicorn. Like you're magical. People like you. You can fly. You fight rainbows. Amazing.
Yeah. But then you just get bullied by me.
Nah, man, I've got this big horn. I'll stab you. We'd fight.
Okay.
Stock market. Efficient wealth creator or rigged game for elite?
Both. Efficient.
Oh.
If I have to choose one efficient wealth creator.
Yeah.
What about you?
It's both, isn't it? I want to start on the rig game for leads because I just don't like it.
Yeah, well, it's a game that works. You know the rules. Everyone knows how it works. Yeah. You just have to play the game.
Yeah.
Right. So you have to make the rules work for you.
Yep.
Would you rather have an unlimited international first class ticket or never have to pay for food at restaurants?
Oh.
Right now international flights. Because I'm flying more than. I mean out of restaurants.
I'd go restaurants.
Really?
Yeah, because I don't fly that much anything. I'd like fly to a place, smash all the restaurants, man, I like, feel so good.
Okay. Wealth means to freedom or source of unhappiness.
Both. But means to freedom.
It means to freedom as well.
Yeah. So it's one of those things where you have a certain level of happiness and you're living kind of paycheck to paycheck. You want a bit more, you get your wealth, but eventually there's some tipping point where you become a slave to wealth, then change your mindset again.
Yeah. Yep. Agree. Love it.
All right. Would you rather be able to breathe underwater or have the agility of a cat?
Breathe underwater. Agility of a cat.
Sorry, I. Swimming park or lad. Just be able to.
Yeah, mate. 24 Spider man around here.
Yeah, I don't wanna. Okay.
Would you rather live a comfortable life without any major achievements or make significant contributions but constantly face challenges?
Constantly face challenges.
Yeah, same.
Yeah.
So it's so much more fulfilling.
Yeah. So I've done this at times where I can live the mediocre life, like where it's middle of the Ground. But I get bored and I want to do things I know I'm capable of it. And not being able to do it and having that regret. Yeah. And of course, if you put yourself out there, you get the ups and downs. Exactly what we're doing now. If you were reborn in a new life, would you rather be alive in the past or in the future?
In the future for sure. There's so much fucking better. Oh yeah, man, so much better.
Plus our bitcoin would be worth heaps.
Would you rather have 100% control of a smaller company or 30% stake in a potentially billion dollar startup?
100% small company.
Yeah, same billion dollar company. Hard work. Oh, I did a board oversight board.
All the managers preparing board papers order.
Oh, you wouldn't be doing anything. You just be dealing with paperwork and.
You'Re a monkey on tv. All the regulation. Nah. No, thank you.
Cool.
Would you rather be extreme, an extremely successful professional with a mediocre personal life or have an incredible personal life with a mediocre professional life?
When you mean professional, you mean like in. Well, I feel as though I'm the first one. Mediocre personal life and. And good. And good at profession. Yeah.
Well, you had to choose one, right?
I'm gonna say. Oh, geez, that's a good question. I think so. Bad, man.
It was like everyone segments their life.
To like work, work and life.
And then which one do you select?
It's like, you know, when you like get the computers, there's like the loading. Spinning Wheeler dead.
I'm like, also like, do I come.
I'm gonna go.
Better at work life and mediocre personal life.
I went. Incredible personal life, mediocre professional life. Okay, why'd you choose yours?
Because I love what I do and if I'm good at what I do, it's going to make it so much better. I'd. I'd rather have a mediocre personal because I feel as though I'm living that I think I can optimize my mediocre life and just love what I do.
Yeah. So I'm on the other side where I've had, you know, a decent professional life so far. And I would not give up my personal relationships I have with people. Yeah, that's true. Friends that my wife and my kid are fucking amazing like that is.
Yeah, for sure.
Way more for sure. Being good at a job.
100%. Yep, I hear.
Would you rather invest all your money in one promising altcoin or spread it evenly across the top 10 crypto currencies.
Say that one again.
Would you rather invest all of your money in one promising altcoin or spread it evenly across the top 10?
It's all my money, so it'll be across the top 10. And.
Okay, let me rephrase it. All your crypto money, so you've still got everything else.
You got crypto money, it would still be the top 10.
Okay, I'm all in one.
So this, this is where it is for me. Because if it's all my crypto money and it has to be one promising altcoin, it's. I'm going to miss out on BTC, I'm going to miss out on 8. I'm going to miss out a few of the top 10. Six of the top 10 are trash anyway.
That's what I mean. That's what I'm thinking. Yeah. So you're gonna have it. So you can have stables, you're gonna have xrp, you'd have bnb.
Well, at least. See, the stables will hold money.
Stables will hold.
And you get. You get exposure to BTC and eth. But that's all I can invest in crypto. See, but at your age, you're all or nothing, right?
Oh, you're going to have Dogecoin, Tron, Heather Cardano, bnb. No fucking way. I'm all in the old.
Well, think about this. What you're doing is VC investing. But you got one shot.
One shot. Yeah, Big will go home. Yeah, that's very true. Very true. Okay, that was a good question. Your turn.
Would you rather have the power to communicate with animals or speak all human languages?
All human languages every other week.
Animals, 100%.
Have we had one same answer, mate.
The army. Old fucking command. Imagine I could get whales to do. I could just be like, oh, lad, go steal this for me. Like a little squirrel or something. Dogs would love me. They tell me all the secrets about their owners and shit, mate.
Okay, that's fair.
Little.
That's fair.
That'd be sick.
But imagine being able to go to any country, in any world, in any culture and have a. An amazing conversation with someone.
We'll talk the animals out there, mate.
It'd be great. The animals.
And then we're going to have AI soon, where you'll be able to have that conversation anyway, mate.
Babelfish, would you rather start a business that is profitable but you're passionate about. Sorry, that is profitable but you're not passionate about, or start a business that you love but isn't making money for the first few years so profitable and not passionate or not making money.
But you love profitable and not passionate.
Interesting. I am passionate and doesn't make money for the first few years.
Right. For me, it is where amateurs do what they love, professionals love what they do. You can fall in love with the game and if I'm doing it and it's a job and I want to make money. Yeah, that's what I'm doing.
I like it. I'm similar, but I have to be. Have to love what I do because I get so easily.
Distracted. Or I'll just give up too easy. If I don't like what I do, I'm just stopped doing it. Yeah, yeah.
Don't get me wrong, out of the two choices, I. I still love like going for well collected shoots. Like a mix of the two. Yeah. You get paid and.
Yeah. What you love. Yeah, very true.
But out of the two, I'm like, go the profitable route, Start making some money, scale that up and choose what.
I want to do. Okay, cool.
Cool.
This is tough. Would you rather always know the truth, no matter how harsh it is, or live in blissful ignorance? Oh God, this is the one that Raph got us at dinner with when we had dinner with Trav.
Would you rather know the truth, always.
Know the truth, no matter how harsh it is, or live in blissful ignorance?
That's a deep question.
How hard is it?
Like on the spot? I'm actually leaning towards blissful ignorance.
Yeah, I am too. Yeah, I would rather. It's like in the Matrix where Cipher just eats a steak and he knows it's not a steak. Because you are so ignorant. You're living a happy life. You don't even know how much of a dickhead you are or what's going on. You're just happy.
Okay? Just happy.
If you're optimizing for happiness, that is the ultimate state of being.
The only. The only thing I would caveat that he's saying is if you are so ignorant that you just sort of like lost. Lost sort of sight of what the actual fuck was actually you lost the self awareness.
You would. But you say ignorant. You wouldn't even have the self awareness to know that you're being ignorant.
True. But then if that affected your business or your work life or. But then you're saying that you're still ignorant and you're basically ignorant. One of those. That's the Matrix in it.
Oh, it's so, so wide reaching.
Would you have. Would you rather have more time or more. Or more money time? Yeah, same one.
Hundred in a choice between the two. Would you rather become five years older or two years younger?
Two years younger.
100.
Yeah.
Give more time. Yeah.
Would you rather have no Internet or no phone?
Well, it's kind of weird because, like, your phone runs off the Internet. Right.
No computer. Okay, rephrase it. No computer or no phone forever. You only use one device. Thank you.
When it tastes better treat.
I'll carry a MacBook around with you.
Yeah, imagine that. Hello.
All right. Would you rather. What do you have?
There's that phone on the laptop. Yeah. Phone as well.
Yeah. Would you rather have the power to change one event in the past or have the ability to foresee the future.
See the future? I don't have any. Really?
Yeah.
Is there something in particular? You only change one event.
My dad before he died.
Oh, wow.
That'd be worth more than looking at the future.
Wow. Okay, that's deep. I don't have an event. I need to change the past. Yeah. Fucking hell. Okay, that's. That's good.
Would you rather. Oh. Would you rather have bought bitcoin at a dollar and sold at a thousand or bought at a thousand and still be holding? So you've done a thousand X but you're out and you can't get back in and you've seen it go higher or you've done a 36x.
And actually that's not a 36x, is it a thousand to 36,000? Is it? Yeah.
Okay.
Or a 36x and you're still holding.
You can never get back in again. You know that. You sold bitcoin. A thousand. You can't get back in. So when it hits 200k, you're like.
So what would it have to go to for a thousand X? It would have to go to 100,000.
A thousand times a thousand.
Oh, no, sorry. A million.
A million.
But I'll take the thousand X.
The one. The dollar to a thousand.
Yeah.
Yeah. I think you have to, don't you?
You have to take the thousand X because you think about how you're holding on for it to go and.
Okay, okay, let me rephrase that. What about 100x? A dollar to 100 and you're out at 100. You made 100x or a thousand to now. So you're up 36. 100x.
100.
100 would be.
Yeah.
100K. Yeah.
Yeah. We're going way over 100k the next time.
Cool. Okay.
Definitely, man.
Would you rather have the power to seduce anyone on earth you want or make Anyone you want. Disappear from the earth.
Powder. Seduce.
For sure.
Imagine.
Oh, the free drinks I'll be getting, lad.
Taylor Swift. Get up my DMs, lad.
That's it.
Would you rather sell your startup early for a guaranteed payout or risk everything for a potential unicorn Vow early for payout?
It's hard because it doesn't define what the payout is.
Yeah, I know. Okay, what about, like, the early payout? It's unders. Under fair val, but it's. It's in the bank. Or promising, but who knows? Sort of 50. 50. Unicorn play.
Is the unicorn play throwing off cash flow? If it is, then, yes, unicorn will do.
No, I don't know. It's like. Yeah, it's like mass startup. You raise a bunch of money, you're fucking going for it like it's big or go home. So you're not. You're not making bank on the way up. It's like you're gonna make a. Billy.
I'd exit.
You'd exit?
I would exit because unders for 24.
Mil, you know, it's worth a hundred.
You can draw 100%. 24 million, it's worth 100. I'm not selling 24 of fair market value.
Okay, we're 50. 50. All right, it's worth a hundred.
We get. We are at 50. We got a 55 mil offer. 25 each.
I'll be selling.
But we're on track. Analysts are saying we're on track to a bill. We need another two or three years. But it's a bit.
That's a bullshit fucking path, man. Like the amount of stuff you would have to do and go through and the things that have to go right, it'd have to be a pretty straight line.
Okay, what about.
Because think about this. You get 25 mil, you pay tax, whatever. Let's just say you end up with 15 mil. Yeah, it's a lot of cash. And the reality is, how much can you actually fucking spend in your life?
I don't know, mate. If I'm on the way to a fucking Billy and I, we have a good. You know, we know we're here.
Billy or zero.
It is a Billy or 0.
The market could change. Something could happen to your company. There could be fraud, there could be a competitor. On and on it goes. If you're young enough to recover from it, whereas I'll just sail off into the fucking sunset.
Oh, you'd have to run a company off that song.
Yeah, I know. No, I think we. I think we're going oh, jeez.
15. Because you could also take the 15 mil, start another company.
I'm on the Billy.
All right. Would you rather be the richest person in the world or have eternal youth.
So you never get old.
So you never die?
So you die, you're just young?
Well, no, eternal you. So you just never die. Your body never gets old. You just keep going. I mean, you probably could die if you got run over or something, right?
I think there's, like, philosophy books around this. It's like, you know, life has an ending point if you don't have an ending point. It's like, what's the point?
Yeah, well, you could top yourself, Right? Well, this is what happens in the Good Place when they have enough.
They've lived for thousands of years, I think. Like, I don't like the idea of eternity because all your peers will be getting old. Then you'd just be like, weird. This weird guy that's like, looks like he's.
Okay. Let's imagine eternal youth means you're 27 for the rest of your life. Well, 30, let's say 30.
Are the people around you 30?
Not just you, mate. Yeah. Well, right now imagine you're 30 and all your mates are 30.
Now, they get older, but they do.
You don't get older. You still look the same.
I'm taking them, Wells.
I'm taking the eternal youth.
Interesting.
Think about it, because you could just compound Bitcoin for the next hundred years or whatever you got, right? You will be able to get the wealth just time stop. No, it's not time stop, but you. So imagine, like, we're all going to die in our 80s, right? Unless there's some huge medical mom. Now, there's no time limit on that. So your wealth just compounds and compounds and compounds and it just keeps going, Right. Like, you don't.
Yeah, I'm thinking of, though, like, what about my happiness? Like, I. Like, I'm just this weird, like, person that looks different. All my peers and I would be.
That person in their peer group that looks weird anyway.
Yeah, but you're, like, 60 and I'm looking like 27, and we're the same age.
But think about this. You wouldn't have any deterioration in your body. You'd be able to do whatever you wanted, any act.
That is true.
You wouldn't get, like, super old. That's true.
I want to say. All right, let's do a couple more.
Would you rather have the power to eliminate all your fears or have all your desires fulfilled?
Eliminate fears?
Yeah, same limit. Fears yeah.
Because that's the other thing. Like, you get everything served up to you on a platter. It's like every desire.
Yeah.
You just get that hedonistic adaptation and what does your life then become? Yeah. Whereas if I was fearless, I could achieve anything.
Yeah. I like it.
Okay, would you. We'll do. I'll do this one, then we'll do one more reach up, I guess. Would you rather have everyone think you're a genius and know you're not, or be a genius and everyone think you're an idiot?
Oh.
You run that. This is the whole, like, social media game.
It is, isn't it?
Isn't it?
I.
I think I'd rather know I'm a genius because that at least you can be confident yourself, you know, you don't. You know, you're not bullshitting.
Yeah. I'd be the same where I don't care what people think about me. Yeah. Anyway. All right, last one for you, then. Last one for me.
Okay.
Would you rather achieve great things but be forgotten or never achieve anything but me, but be remembered forever?
Great things forgotten. 100% easy.
Yeah. It's a bit more internal, isn't it? Yeah. I'll be the same.
I don't give a. When I'm dead, who cares if people remember me? In 100 years, no one's going to remember me.
Very true.
Yeah. All right. This one's up there. It's. It's an interesting one to end on. Would you rather betray your best friend for personal gain or sacrifice your own success for their benefit?
Or just say the first one again, the friend.
Would you rather betray your best friend for personal gain or sacrifice your own success for their benefit?
Oh, cheers to me, too.
It doesn't. It depends what it is. Like, am I just, like, pissing this person off a little bit?
Yeah.
Or is it like a deep betrayal of their, you know, deepest, darkest secret?
Yeah. And how. And how fucked are they going to be if you do what you do? I think it's. I think for me.
It'D be. It'd be. Cut my success for them, I think.
Yes. Same with me. Because I wouldn't be able to live with.
And saying that depending on how big it was.
Yeah.
And the balance. Not saying I wouldn't. The first.
All right, that was too dark to end. We're doing another one. This one's for you. Would you rather go on a blind date with someone incredibly boring or someone incredibly argumentative?
Oh, God.
And let's make it more easy. The boring girl is a 10 out of 10. And the argumentative one is a 7.
Whatever that means to you.
So argumentative as in like they just.
I just fucking constantly argue with you.
Oh, no, that. The boring.
The boring one.
Yeah.
I'll take the argumentative one because if you really say, I love good argument, Andy, I talk so much shit. I would rather someone that has a position and they're like so strong on it and they argue their position rather than someone that's just passive and boring. I do this with people I meet, even some of my mates. I'm like, who are you really? And I like poke and prod them till I understand that I want to see you super hyped. They could be middle of the road bullshit. No, you have to be super hyped about something. I'll be like, fuck, that just pisses me off. I want to know who you are.
Yeah, I like that. In my head I'm the argumentative. Like they just sit there and just fucking yell at me. Like they just have started abusing me.
I don't know. It's always like. Every point is like, oh, what about this? Have you thought.
Oh, like intellectual?
Yeah.
Oh, for sure, yeah. No, no, sorry. If the word was intellectual. Intellectual is like high on my list of that.
Well, you could be intellectual and passive, but argum is they always put their.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They question like they, they.
They make a sci fi. It'll be like that, right?
We might wrap it there. That was cracking.
Thank you, Ben. Thank you, Chat GPT.
Yeah, thank you, Chat GPT, for being our producer there. Thank you everyone. If you've got some questions for us, feel free to ping them across. We love to hear from you and yeah, hope you can share this one around with, with your friends if you enjoyed it. Bergs, we wrap it up. We're going for dinner.
Going for dinner. A couple scoffs for sk.
Anyways, thanks everyone. You can leave us a review, rating, feedback, whatever. And yeah, thank you very much for enjoying the podcast. We, we love talking to you each and every week. We'll speak soon.
Thank you, champions, guys.
