Ben Simpson recounts his personal journey from humble beginnings to making his first ~$100k in cryptocurrency. He describes early side jobs (refereeing, a sportswear business in Tasmania at age 15), consistently investing his limited funds into Bitcoin and crypto, then taking a bank loan at 18 to invest about $20,000 in 2018. He bought assets like Ethereum (~$80) and early ICO projects, grew the stake into the low hundreds of thousands, then lost gains after round-tripping; he emphasizes three lessons: find ways to earn money, get into the market, and take risks.

So someone recently asked me how I made my first hundred thousand dollars in crypto and I didn't have any money. When I started nine years ago. I was sharing a bunk bed with my brother for those that know. And I was always taught if I wanted something, I needed to go out and get it. So I started anything I could to make money. I went out and started basketball refereeing to earn cash. And then I started a sportswear apparel business. I was making uniforms out of China and selling them back home in Tasmania. This is when I was 15. And any money I had I put into crypto and bitcoin until I turned 18. And that's when I took out a loan from the bank. Now I do not recommend doing that at all but. But I had literally no downside because I didn't have anything. Anyway, took out a loan and I invested about $20,000 in the market back in 2018. I then ran that up into the low hundreds of thousands the way I did that, where I bought a theorem at $80, I bought Bitcoin in the low thousands. But I started to get into some of These Ethereum projects, ICOs, et cetera and I ran those projects up. Now I made the mistake of round tripping and I didn't sell any of those profits and I lost all of them. And I had to rebuild it over the last eight years to now what I have now. But the biggest lesson there for me to get from 0 to 100 is you've got to find a way to get money. You've got to find a way to get in the market and you've got to take risks. Those are the three things that is going to get you to build your portfolio and grow. If you're starting out with not much right now.
