Ben Simpson discusses how cryptocurrency markets tend to bottom when fear is highest and broad consensus expects further decline. He argues bottoms are messy (U-shaped), driven by emotion, short squeezes, and liquidation dynamics, and says current conditions present an accumulation opportunity looking toward 2026.

When will crypto come back? When will altcoins pump? It's a question I get all the time, especially in today's. Like today where we get that sell off. I'll give you a little tip. It will bottom when we see the greatest amount of fear. Markets are always reactionary to the opposite of what everyone's thinking, all right? It's not going to bottom until everyone is throwing in the tower. So until everyone's angry, until everyone quits crypto, until everyone thinks it's going and we're done and the four year cycle is it and today's the day that crypto's over. That will be the day the market bottoms, bottoms are never clean. It's never a V shaped recovery, it's a U shape. Bottoms are messy. They get cleaned out based on the fear and emotion and drive. And that is when the, that's when the retail and, and leverage and traders and whales start to continuously push the market into that direction because that's where everyone thinks. The reason we get big spikes upwards and we get this short squeeze is when everyone shorts the market because of how fearful they are and how much they want to make money on the way down. Once everyone flips to short, then we rotate it up, we get the liquidation spike upwards and that's when things return. I'm not saying we're out of the woods just yet. I am saying right now that we are in a bit of no man's land and we require that fear to accumulate at the bottom. But that's why I believe right now is a great time to accumulate, because we're going to look back in this period and see all of the macro factors have been so good for crypto and why we're going to 2026. And remember that fear is what drives the market back up.
