Ben Simpson (YouTube) describes how patience and conviction produced a 10x gain on a DeFi token he calls “syrup.” He reports buying when the token fell to ~$0.05–$0.06 in April and selling near $0.60 during the bull market, attributing success to conviction, understanding fundamentals (revenue, high TVL), and doubling down rather than panicking. He frames a decision rule: hold/scale into fundamentally sound, undervalued assets; cut positions that lack real fundamentals.

One of my cryptocurrencies did a 10x only because I learned this one thing that I learned earlier in this cycle and that is to be patient and also to have conviction before the narrative arrives. The biggest returns I made this cycle has been on syrup. This is one I literally put out for free. It's a defi project that literally went down to 5 or 6 cents back in April and recently hit a highs of 60 cents, which I took profits. That's a 10x in the middle of a bull market. Completely outperformed that thing that I learned and I've been doing this for nine years now. I failed at it when I first started. I is that you need to have patience and you need to have conviction in those assets that go down and pull back and have corrections that the narrative isn't there yet. So many people panic and sell out when that happens. For me, I doubled down and I double down because I had conviction, because I knew the asset itself. The asset had good fundamentals, was generating revenue, and it had high tvl. There's a very small difference between doubling down and having conviction on an asset that's underperforming before it pumps versus lying to yourself, being emotional and just investing because you hope it'll come back. You need to understand conviction. You need to understand the asset and is it actually solving a problem and is generating revenue. If it is the case and it's undervalued, maybe you should have high conviction. If it's not, cut it and move on. And that is how I've succeeded so far in cycle.
