Spreadsheet Lies: See REAL Work Capacity, Not Just Numbers! #shorts

In this short, Bill Canady warns that spreadsheets often mask the difference between occupied capacity (work that is already consuming resources) and available capacity (free resources). Although they appear identical in a model, they behave very differently in practice. He offers a practical test to determine which type you are looking at: select a specific block of work and answer three questions – (1) what mechanism generates the work? (2) has that mechanism been changed (scheduled, actually changed, or not changed)? and (3) verify the change with live data rather than slide‑based figures. He illustrates the approach with typical generators such as small orders below a minimum threshold, discount structures that trigger negotiations, and configuration options that require engineering review. The key message is that without naming the generator you are only seeing a symptom, and many reported figures are merely “on a slide” rather than live system data.
