Bonnie Christine explains why the podcast went quiet and announces a new direction: episodes will drop only when she's genuinely excited, moving from weekly releases to themed bursts starting in January. October was packed with conferences, a new Pattern Magazine issue in Barnes & Noble, and two new team members.
I am here to give you a long overdue update on some things that have been happening and where we are headed with this beautiful podcast, the Professional Creative.
I'm Bonnie Christine and this is where all things creativity, design, business and marketing unite. I'm a mama living in a tiny town touched right inside the Smoky Mountains, running a multi seven figure business, doing the most creative and impactful work of my life. But when I first set out to become an entrepreneur, I was struggling to make ends meet and wrestling with how to accomplish my biggest dream of becoming a fabric designer. Fast forward to today. I'm not only licensing my artwork all over the world, but also teaching others how to design their creative life and experience the same success. I'm here to help you spend your life doing something that lights you up. I'll help you build a creative business that also creates an impact, changes people's lives, gives you all of the freedom you want, and is wildly profitable. Welcome to the Professional Creative Podcast.
If you have noticed, it's been a little quiet. If you if you have noticed, you are right and I didn't want to just kind of continue without sharing with you why and what our plan is moving forward. So the first reason is that we really intentionally took a break in October. October this year was a big, full, beautiful month and it was very busy. So inside of just four weeks I hosted the Mark Makers Mastermind in Portland, Maine for a week. I re recorded the entire Surface Design Immersion course. Yes I did. I hosted our annual conference Surface Design Live in Greenville, South Carolina. I flew out to LA to be a guest judge for a design competition for a curtain company called two Pages. We launched our second issue of Pattern Magazine. Now I'm available in Barnes and Noble. We launched the Licensing Expo documentary and behind the scenes I onboarded two new members to our team. So October was big and full. And so because of that, we decided to take a break from the podcast just to kind of lighten the load. But during that month, and really in the margins, I also did a lot of reflecting on the podcast. Why was it on the top of the list of things to stop doing when we needed to lighten the load? What I really realized is something that you probably felt as well, and it's this. I had let the calendar really start driving the show. And what I mean by that is like every Thursday rolls around, it's time for a new episode. We always try to work at least two weeks in advance. And so I had gotten to where I was doing one episode at a time and it Felt like it was just something every single week. And I would get way batched far and ahead and then slowly kind of eat back into that and be right up to the moment that we needed another episode again. Sometimes, because the calendar was driving the show, I was kind of pulling together content for the sake of content. And so that's what I want to talk about. A question that I started to ask myself, and I think you should, too, is, am I really fascinated by this? And if I'm not fascinated by what I'm creating, how can I expect you to be fascinated by it? And so I don't ever want to press play and feel like I'm just going through the motions or checking off a box. I think you and I both deserve better than that. So here's what I have decided. I want to optimize this podcast for fascination. I love that phrase so much. Optimize for fascination. What that means to me is that I am not going to deliver something to you unless I am genuinely just lit up about it. Unless I am excited to sit down and record it, Unless I'm thinking, oh, my goodness, cannot wait to share this. And that doesn't always happen on a weekly schedule. So for me, it kind of happens in bursts. So sometimes I'll have six or eight things that I'm dying to share with you and talk about all at once. And then other times I might need a few weeks to kind of let things percolate and noodle on them for a little bit and really think through coming up with exactly something that I think you're interested in and most importantly, will be worth your time. So here's what you can expect going forward. Instead of weekly episodes that I think, you know, got to a place where they may or may not have been hitting the mark, we're going to do something different. We're going to release content in bursts, so miniseries around topics that I am so genuinely excited about and that I believe will really help you move your creative business forward. Episodes that build on each other, stories and lessons that really take us somewhere together. And our first burst is coming in January. We're already planning it. I cannot wait to cover this topic with you. We're going to drip episodes out over the course of a week or so, so you're going to have fresh content landing in your feed every couple of days. It's going to be so good, and I'm genuinely so excited about it. So that is what has been going on over here, and that is where we are. I want to say thank you truly from the bottom of my heart for being here. This community is so incredibly special to me and this platform is also really incredibly special. I don't take that for granted. Thank you for listening. Thank you for being a part of this community. You showing up means just the world to me. So I promise you this, when I do show up in your earbuds is going to be worth it. My friends, I hope that you have the most beautiful holiday season. Merry Christmas. I hope that you end this year well. Soak in the slow moments, hug your people tight, rest well and I will see you in the new year with something that I am absolutely fascinated about, excited about and cannot wait to share with you. So, so very grateful for you. Remember, create the beauty that you want to see come alive in the world. I'll see you soon. Bye for now.
