Can You Really Predict the Market?

Brian McAvoy from Inside Out Trading argues that market prediction is harder than most traders think. He emphasizes using a strategy that matches your trading style and offers a free guide to help you find the right fit.
Hi, Brian McAvoy here with Inside Out Trading. Today, we're going to talk about something that's really fun. This is one of the favorite things to talk about is when it comes to trading, everyone talks about the uncertainty of the markets. And yes, there is an element of uncertainty to the markets. Nobody knows tomorrow or a week from now, you know exactly where any given instrument the price is going to be. There's an uncertainty to the markets, and there is an uncertainty in the activity of the markets. But the thing is, the markets are not random. Just because there's an element of uncertainty doesn't mean that there's not some order to it. If you think about it, if the markets were truly random, complete uncertainty, then when you look at the charts, you wouldn't see, like, what you see back here, where there it moves. No, it would look like a scatter plot. There would just be dots all over the place if it was truly random. But it's not. There is an order to the markets, and that's what gives us our edge. And if you look at the charts, it's really cool because the charts really do. They reveal your edge. And here's what I'm talking about. What are the markets, anyway? The markets are people and computer algorithms. People have a wonderfully natural predictability to them, and so do the computer algorithms, their programs. They. They see certain things. They have programmed responses. Humans are the same way. And so the cool thing about it is, as traders, when we look at the charts and if you think about every great strategy that the legends write about, all great strategies that have been written is because you had a trader center looking at the charts and he's saying, I keep seeing this over and over again. Or it's the same thing. I keep seeing the same thing in the charts over and over again. Whether it's candlestick formations or patterns or whatever, it's repeated little windows of. I call them windows of predictability. Because there's something that got triggered in the markets that caused an emotional response in the people in the algorithms. It created a specific response. And our edge in the markets is when we can identify that. And we say, hey, I can recognize that at the beginning of it, and now I know what's very likely to happen afterwards. Things get very predictable. Then that uncertainty goes way down. Because, hey, yeah, I'm seeing the beginning of something that I've seen over and over and over again in the markets. And I can capture. I can get in at the beginning of it, and now I can act on that and make money on it. And that's really cool. That's awesome. That's really what gives us our edge. If you're feeling like at times, man, I just don't know what to expect from the markets. Every day I go to the markets, like, it seems like every time I get in, I got a good, great setup and the market just turns against me. It just doesn't make sense. It's because of what you're working with. And that's where you need to really focus is getting a handle on a better way to do to go about your trading. If that's how you're feeling, if it's just. If what you're doing just isn't working and then it just feels like the uncertainty, it's like, hell, I might as well just roll dice. If that's how it feels, then what you may be running into is you're trying to trade with a strategy that really isn't a good fit for you. That's a real common problem. It's so easy to hear about some webinar or somebody on YouTube and there's, oh, my God, look at all this money we're making. And you're somebody sitting there saying, I'm making all this money yours. Go, what? And you perk up and, okay, I'm going to go see what he's doing and I'll copy him because he's making money. And it's no. What you need to do, you need to work with something that's the right fit for you. Super important. If you're trying to trade with somebody else's strategy and it's not, it doesn't really resonate with you. There's some certain things about it that aren't a good fit for you. What's going to come from that is you're going to have an inherent conflict, an internal conflict that is going to cause you to very likely sabotage your trading at times. And so you really need to be working with a strategy, a method that really is well suited for you. And if you need some help with this, okay, how do I. How do I know I. When. Over the course of time, I've worked with tons of traders. I've been at this almost 20 years helping other traders. I've developed a strat, a perfect strategy selection guide. It's like a cheat sheet. And it's nine criteria that really lets you know when you go through this criteria. If you're looking at a given strategy or system, method, whatever, you run it through this list of criteria, and it. If it checks all nine then it's a perfect fit for you. And if it doesn't, then again it may create problems for you, some internal conflict that's going to make itself known through self sabotage or some other means. The Perfect Trading Strategy Cheat Sheet swingmyinsideouttrading.com at the top of the page there's a link, it's a cheat sheet. Or if you want there's a pop up and you can grab this. It's free. But that way you can make sure that what you're working with really is a perfect fit for you. That's super important. It really is. From psychological standpoint, from a making money standpoint, from a self sabotage standpoint, you really need to be working with something that really resonates and is a perfect fit for you. Anyway, I hope this been helpful for you. I really do because again the charts reveal your edge and the markets can be yes they can have an element of uncertainty but there are so many times and man we've got Windows where things are very predictable because human nature doesn't change computer programs, they're programs. They're programmed to behave and respond certain ways. So we have this wonderful predictability to the markets if we'll just take advantage of it. Anyway, I hope this been helpful.
