This is a YouTube video titled "Forex Trading Strategy - Overlooked Aspect of Risk Management" created in February 2010. It features Brian McAvoy from Inside Out Trading discussing the importance of mistake avoidance as part of risk management in trading. He emphasizes the use of checklists, particularly a "Winning Traders Preparedness Checklist," to help traders manage emotions and prevent errors, drawing parallels from his experience in quality engineering and manufacturing.
You. Hi, Brian McAvoy here with Inside Out Trading. And today I want to talk about something pretty important that's often overlooked by a lot of traders. And that is an aspect of your risk management that again, most traders, particularly struggling traders, overlook. And what I'm talking about is mistake avoidance, specifically as part of your risk management. When I was in quality engineering and manufacturing, one of the things that we always looked for in every line that we put in a plant was where do we have opportunities for human error? And we would minimize those intentionally. Now there were a handful of tools that we used to make that happen, one of which you can put to use right away right now in your trading. And that's the power of a checklist throughout. I mean, almost everywhere you go there are checklists of some sort put to use. One that you're probably very familiar with is like a pre flight checklist, one that pilots and astronauts would use before the takeoff to make sure that everything's been checked and everything is right before you get going. Now what I'm talking about as far as your risk management and your mistake avoidance, there are daily checklists that you can put into play, but there's also a checklist, a very specific checklist that I'm referring to and I refer to it as the winning traders preparedness checklist. And that's the things that traders should have taken care of before they ever get to their trading day. And I wanted to let you know about it because it really is important if you've been fighting any kind of issues as far as the emotions of trading and psychology, keeping handle on your fears, greed, hopes, anger, revenge, guilt, all that kind of stuff. The preparedness checklist can take you down through the things that will kind of, they're preventive measures, they're kind of like prerequisites. I want to let you know about it. You can find out more about how you can get your hands on this right now. Because see, the problem with a checklist, you might be thinking, oh, you know, I just said I'm going to make a checklist of my own. Well, you can do that. One thing again that I learned, I've seen it in trading and I saw it lots in manufacturing, is a poor checklist can be more of a hindrance than a help. So it's something to watch out for. You have to make sure you have a proper checklist. If you've got a checklist that has some of the wrong things on it or it's missing critical items, that's something where you're going to be relying on it and it's almost like bad information. So I wanted to let you know about this. This is one that's based on years of experience, both my own and helping other traders. And it really is the stuff that you need to tend to. That's why I call it the Winning Traders Preparedness Checklist. Check it out at the link right down here. And if you have any questions, just let me know. It's Brian with Inside Out Trading. Cheers.
