This is a YouTube video titled "The Best Investment: Building Yourself for Trading Success" created in March 2025. The content features a monologue by Brian McAvoy from Inside Out Trading, where he discusses the importance of personal development and mindset improvement for traders aiming to achieve better consistency and success in trading for the upcoming year. He emphasizes investing in oneself through training, mentorship, and psychological growth rather than constantly seeking new strategies or signals.
Hi there. Brian McAvoy with Inside Out Trading. And if you want to make 2025, really awesome year with your trading, now's the time to be making ready for it. You can make a lot of progress before the first of the year, so you really hit the ground running. Now you're sitting here, you may be wondering, it's like, well, I've been trying lots of stuff and I've kind of been stuck lately. What can I do? Well, what you can do is try something different. Instead of looking for a new strategy, instead of looking for a new signal service, instead of looking for a new prop firm, focus on developing yourself as a trader. I mean, whenever you invest in yourself, especially if you invest time and energy in yourself, and of course, if you invest money in yourself through training or mentorship, that kind of stuff, that's something that's going to pay off for the rest of your life because you are becoming a better trader. You're becoming more capable, becoming more knowledgeable, more resilient, have better control over your emotions. I mean, when you level yourself up, that changes your game. And that's really cool now. So what are some things that you can do? Well, there's a variety of good trading books, business books, personal development, professional development books. Again, there's mentoring. If you do need a new strategy, which been working the same work anymore and you kind of lost faith in it, you need something new, okay, maybe go look for a new strategy, but watch out for that because it's so easy to get caught up in the hype and everybody waving money around, all that kind of stuff. But really you want to focus on getting your psychology in order to learn how to be more consistent. That's where I help traders. Just helping you understand how to be consistent and consistent what you do. Because when you're inconsistent, then you're a variable that's costing you money. If your system, maybe you got a good premise, but you're not sure how to, you can kind of tell that there's something not quite right about it. It's kind of hard to get consistent results out of it. But you like to, you like the strategy. You just would like to be able to systemize it better again. That's something I can help you with. You want to treat your trading like a business, you know, maybe just get a little more organ, put together a plan for the year on some goals that you want to reach with your trading and lay out a plan to get there again. Give me a holler. You can swing by Insideouttrading.com and you can book a call with me and we can talk about what's going on with your trading right now and see what really is going to be your best path forward to help you realize the goals that you've got with your trading. I mean, you get into trading because you want better, you want, you know, you want money, you want to have control over your time, control over your destiny. You may want to be at a point where you can retire and have an income. Maybe you want to trade and make full time income so that you can quit your job and have control over your life, spend time with your family, pursue personal interests like supporting your church or just life. So go ahead and like I said, investing in yourself really is the best investment you can make. Whenever I'm talking with my sons or my buddies and we're talking about things to invest in and they're kind of sitting there saying I'm not really sure what to invest in, investing in yourself is almost always a good answer. I can't think of when it's not. If you can level up, become more capable, more knowledgeable, more skilled, a stronger person, more confident, all that kind of stuff. When you level yourself up, that's a great investment. And again, that's one where it changes your life from here forward. Because now you've leveled up, you're a different person. You're not the same person you were a week ago or a year ago or five years ago because you've leveled up, you've gotten some training and you've grown. So you're a different person now. And that's cool. And that's really where you've heard of the cycle of be, do, have. Before you can have what you want to have, you got to do the things you need to do in order to do the things that you need to do to have those things and do those things effectively. You have to be the person. And what does that mean? Well, as far as like who you need to be, I've heard the one framework, beliefs, traits and skills and it's really good way to look at it is yeah, you can level up your beliefs as far as who you are. Go ahead and question some of the beliefs that you've held or at least review them and see if maybe they're not quite as true as you thought they were. Maybe identify some that are counterproductive. So you know, look into your beliefs and as far as your character traits, just in general, could you maybe be more disciplined, more patient as a person just in general developing that aspect of yourself. And it's not whether you are or you're not. I know the term afford. Lately, things are almost nothing's binary. It's just how much of it are you? So how patient are you, how disciplined are you? And just, you know, moving yourself along the scale toward the end that you want to be. So you got beliefs and traits and skills, of course, but those are the three kind of categories of things that you can look at as far as who you are and where you can level up that will impact your quality of life, your ability to make money and be successful. Those are three good categories in which you can look at things. So again, looking ahead to 2025, I'm sure you would love for 2025, regardless of how 2024 went, he would love for next year to be better. And so it's worth a little bit of time, you know, taking a few minutes and say, yeah, where would I like to see things better? How would I like to see things better? And okay, what can I do to move myself toward that end? What can I do right now?
