A trader explains why most people lose money early on: they start trading real money before they're ready. The real struggle isn't the market, it's the mental game of staying disciplined when you don't yet know what you're doing.
The biggest problem that most traders get, and this is probably 99 of traders, is the crappy mental conditioning that happens during our early weeks and months and sometimes years of trading. Because we get started and we start trading with real money before we really know what the heck we're doing, we basically all start trading with real money, and we just know enough to be dangerous. We're not actually really skilled at this. We're not good, solid, competent traders. We jump into this thinking that, okay, I get it, and I can kind of figure it out as I go, or we just kind of neglect to even think about, yeah, this is a skilled profession. It's not as easy as it looks. There are skills to go with this job.
