A trader explains why consistency matters more than perfection in markets. You need discipline, risk management, and self-management skills, not just a winning strategy. Trading is complex and requires a broad skill set most people underestimate.
The thing is strategy is not the magic thing with trading. You can have an average strategy and if you can execute it consistently you'll make way more money and it will outperform a great strategy that you can't execute consistently. It's seriously that's like the magic that is the big secret in trading is consistent execution and being skilled up. Here's the thing. Trading requires a certain level of skill and a range of skills and it's pretty high. This is not an entry level job. This isn't not just any average joke and walking off the street and just start trading and making money consistently and be set for life. Doesn't work that way. Most traders we what they do and I was guilty of the same thing, we'd see that it oh it looks pretty straightforward, pretty easy. I just need a strategy and some discipline. Cool. And so we get here and we just keep chasing strategies and we focus on discipline and we don't focus on no there are more skills required for this job. This is a business and this requires self management. It requires a whole range of skills. How to be consistent, how to build confidence, how to fix things when they're broken, how to deal with it when the market changes, how to apply proper risk management, money management and long term planning, all this kind of stuff. There's a whole range of skills and so long as we're down here it's tough.
