Thank you for joining me today. It's Brian Gubernick, and welcome to the No Days Off podcast, where we believe that every single day brings a new opportunity to get better. As you know, just a few weeks ago we kicked off our very first long-form interview, something that we're going to be doing periodically, once or twice a month. Where rather than the typical, call it 5 to 12 minute episode that I run solo, I actually sit down with an impactful individual and try to better understand what makes them tick. Well, this week we're actually going to run another interview, and this time we're going to sit down with— we're going to talk with the legendary, the one and only, Mack Newton. Mac is a friend of the No Days Off Podcast. He's, he's a mentor to me. It's been in my life for 17, 18 years. And unfortunately, our good buddy Mac just passed away about a week or so ago. If you don't know Mac, you should, because the guy is, is literally a legendary individual. It's one of the greatest to ever do it. World Series winner, Super Bowl winner, 9th-degree black belt, Taekwondo Hall of Fame, Vietnam War vet, Bo Jackson's personal trainer, Mark McGuire's trainer, Sammy Sosa's trainer. Guy has touched thousands upon tens of thousands, I should say, if not hundreds of thousands of lives over the course of his lifetime. He is the most special individual that I've ever interacted with, and I learned so much from Mac about hard work, about effort, about forgiveness, about leadership. The list goes on and on and on. I have literally hundreds of pages of notes from sitting down with Mac and talking with him over the past decade and a half or so. The guy is just absolutely amazing. And a couple years ago, I was able to coerce Mack into an interview in front of a couple thousand people at our Built How conference. If you were there, as many of our listeners may have been, you know how special that day was, not just for me, but, but for all of us in the room. I was only supposed to talk to Mack that day for 25-30 minutes. That's what we had slotted in terms of time. But because of all he was sharing, because of the topics, and, and most importantly, the reaction from those listening, uh, we doubled or tripled that time together, just blew through the rest of our agenda because what he shared that day was just so impactful. And I was blessed to hear what he had shared that day many a time over the past 16, 17, 18 years that I got to forge a relationship with Mac. So we're gonna dive into this interview, we're going to air it uncut. And then the next few days after that, we'll break down some of what Mac had to share and even some other lessons that I picked up from Mac over the years. So without further ado, I bring you the legendary, the one and only, Mac Newton. Mac, buddy, I'm gonna miss you forever. Uh, you were an amazing man, amazing mentor, and I can't wait to see you again. Thanks, buddy.
