In this debut episode of the Nearshore Cafe podcast, host Brian Sampson explains why the 2020s are the decade for Latin America as a nearshoring destination for U.S. companies. He contrasts traditional outsourcing hubs—Asia, Eastern Europe, and emerging Africa—with Latin America’s unique advantages: shared workday, cultural alignment, high‑skill talent, and cost competitiveness beyond pure price. Sampson outlines the podcast’s mission to spotlight stories from U.S. CEOs and executives leveraging Latin American talent, as well as profiles of Latin American fintech founders and other innovators. He shares his own eight‑year experience living and operating across the continent, including personal anecdotes (a mate cup from Buenos Aires, a favorite Spanish phrase for ordering water) and a core business tip: treat Latin American partners as people, not low‑cost resources. Listeners are invited to tune in weekly for guest interviews, practical advice, and cultural insights that bring the region to life.

Hey, everyone, I'm Brian Sampson and you are listening to the Nearshore Cafe podcast. If you haven't heard of us before, there's a reason for that. We're new. But there was a key reason that I felt this podcast had to be made, because there's a lot of stories to be told. My inherent belief is that the 2020s are the decade for Latin America. All the market conditions, everything is coming to Latin America. And I'm sure you've, if you're listening to this, you've read stories, you've seen all the facts and figures. You know that outsourcing to Asia has been around for decades and decades. It's really all about price. Today, Eastern Europe is a little bit unstable, unfortunately, Africa is brand new. So it's almost like we went all the way around the world. And if you're in the US you're really taking notice of Latin America. It's the same workday, the cultural assimilation, the great talent. It's all right there, but the information is abundant. What I want to do on this podcast is share the stories, bring you in to the thought processes and the people. And there are so many interesting stories. I want to shed light into the CEOs and executives from the US that are tapping into Latin America and working with this continent and all the different nuances from the different locations, from Mexico to Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru and more. And on the other side, who are these talented people in Latin America, these fintech CEOs that have raised eight figures and exited business leaders? The talent, gosh, it's. It's amazing. And we are going to have a blast learning all about their stories, their anecdotes, their best tips and tricks, and we're going to have a lot of fun. Me personally, I've been operating here for eight years. I've run a variety of different companies. I've lived in Argentina, I've been all, all around the continent. And it has just blown me away. And I am so excited to bring this all to life and shed a spotlight on this region. For you, it's not all business. We'll talk about a lot of different things, including best purchase under $50 in Latin America. For me, that was a mate cup that I got at the Sunday market in San Telmo. That's in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mate is a huge part of the culture there. Favorite Spanish word is simple as how to order water. Instead of water, you say agua cingas, that's without bubbles, or agua congas, that's with bubbles. I just think that's so fun to say. And then my biggest tip for doing business with those that are maybe curious about the region, treat them like people. This is not a place for low cost resources. Although sure, it's a little bit cheaper than the States, but the bigger reasons are it's the same workday. These people have the same motivations, ambitions to build their careers and their families and think critically and they're clever and they're creative and this talent here is amazing. And I really just want to shed light on it for you. So tune in about once a week. We'll have great shows, interesting guests, and make this region come to life for you. Thanks for listening.
