Bryan Johnson got his pilot's license, saw how autopilot works in planes, and decided to build one for his body. He assembled dozens of experts to measure his physiology and create data-driven protocols that automatically manage his health, sharing the process publicly so others can replicate it.

Got my pilot's license a couple years ago. One day I was flying the airplane and I turned the autopilot on. I had become familiar with all the different instruments within the plane and how it measures what's going on and then makes auto corrections. It makes such micro auto corrections that it keeps the plane stable to a degree far greater than I could with my own hand. I would try to feel the plane and see the plane move and then make these corrections. I could not compete with the quality of which the plane did it. And I wondered in that moment, I thought, could I build an autopilot for my body? And I set off to do it. And so now the team is, you know, a few dozen people people. And we try to measure everything we can. We try to match that up with gold standard scientific evidence and then create protocols for doing it. What I agreed to do in the program was create this program so that it takes better care of me than I am able. And I just say yes to everything. I just follow the data and follow the evidence. I've spent a lot of money doing this and I've shared it, not everything, but a lot of things publicly because it's very hard to do this. Hopefully it's just helpful to people. They can take it and improve upon it, push it forward.
