Bryan Johnson cites a study linking PFOA, a chemical in non-stick cookware, to a 169% increase in fatty liver disease risk in children when levels double. PFAS are "forever chemicals" that disrupt hormones during growth. Switch to stainless steel pans instead.

This pan doesn't stick, but the chemicals do. A new study linked a chemical used in non stick pans to an increased risk of fatty liver disease in kids. The chemical is called PFOA. In this study, when levels doubled, kids showed a 169% increased risk of fatty liver disease and it got worse with age. Why are kids so vulnerable? Forever chemicals are known to cause metabolic and endocrine disruption during adolescence. Hormones are changing and the body is growing rapidly. This makes kids and young adults especially vulnerable to the endocrine, hormonal and metabolic damage caused by these forever chemicals. Despite this, PFAS are still used everywhere in cookware, clothing and even electronics. This study does have limitations, but the takeaway is simple. Avoiding non stick and choosing cookware without pfas such as a stainless steel is a much safer bet. I hope this message sticks.
