Bryan Johnson used a high-frequency muscle-contraction device on his pelvic floor to stop waking at night for bathroom trips. It worked, and he slept better. An unexpected bonus: his sexual function improved, something objective measurements caught that he wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

I did not think this was going to be shared publicly. I thought it was shared in confidence. We have this high famous machine. We use it because it does muscle contraction. We thought it'd be a fun device to play with as you age, your pelvic floor ages because the device had this thing that could help build my pelvic floor. I thought, wouldn't it be cool to experiment with this to see if I could prevent getting up at night to go to the bathroom? I average one time per night getting up to the bathroom, which is normal. But every time I don't get up to the bathroom, my sleep is substantially better. And so I was just trying to solve the problem of don't get up at night to go to the bathroom at all. When I started doing this, I had this other side effect, which you know is like sexual health. And there's actually age curves on nighttime, the duration and the frequency and whatnot. We're exploring a whole bunch of things. We're trying to do it systematically. We do experience these surprises. It didn't hurt. That's a thing that people led with in the publicity. It's something that a lot of people think about and care about. We do experience those kinds of surprises all the time. And the data really is much more illuminating than subjective experience.
