I was building another company. I had a baby. I couldn't pay my bills. I had a whole bunch of debt. I applied to 60 jobs. Nobody would even interview me. The only job I could get was selling credit card processing door to door. Like, if you could fog a mirror, you could work for the company. So then I became the company's number one salesperson. I broke all their sales records. How? Because I figured out the system. I'd hold up $100 bill and I'd say, I will give you $100 for three minutes of your time if you don't like what I'm offering. And they'd be like, all right, that's interesting. And it was just this really basic conversation of, you can trust me, because I'm going to do something that's in your best interest and we'll build a good relationship. Did that for a year. And then after a year, I thought, this is interesting. This is an opportunity. And I started Braintree. We grew up with them, and so it was fun to grow alongside them. And then we acquired venmo, and then PayPal bought the combined entity for 800 million in cash. Wow.
