Bryan Johnson uses two devices to stimulate his vagus nerve and boost heart-rate variability: the Pulsetto, a neck wrap that delivers electrical current for ten minutes before bed, and a chest-worn Sensate-style device. He says a week of Pulsetto use has been really effective at shifting him out of chronic high-arousal toward a calmer baseline.

So this device is emitting electrical current. We have a vagus nerve that is through the side of our head. It's an entry point for a lot of things. People use the vagus nerve for all kinds of treatments of disorders. And so by putting this thing here, it just electrically stimulates so I can feel a really light source of electricity on the contact points. And then 10 minutes before bed, I'll use. I got this device last week. This is Pulsetto, and it goes around the neck. We put a few dabs of gel here and that's for 10 minutes. I've been doing that for the week and it's been really effective. This is a sensate. This you just wear over the neck. It hangs here on your chest. Because you can get the vagus nerve here or here. There's quite a few places you can interact with it. We prioritize HRV because the nervous system is so important and because I think I'm still trying to reshape myself from running in high gear all the time for so many years, I'm trying to get myself back to a more modulated state.
