What'S up, coach? Beverly Simpson here, and I'm your host of the PT Profit Podcast. Welcome back to another episode. It's hard to believe that we're already at episode number 35 and today it's just going to be me and we're going to be chatting all about beginner's luck. So happy Tuesday. I realized that it's been a couple of weeks since I've posted a Tuesday episode. Now, if you've been reading my newsletters and catching me on the social media, you'll know already that I have been trying to give my team a break because we've been pumping out a ton of content. And in fact, I'm going to do my best on this episode because I know that when it's just me recording, I tend to give my editors a lot of work because I'll just stutter all around it. But I'm gonna do my best to be concise to the point, take my time so that my editors don't have to work quite as hard on this episode. But the other reason why I have not been pumping out a ton of the content is because inside of our business, we've been really just pouring a lot of our energy and effort into finalizing the PT Profit formula, which, if you knew around here, I had launched the beta coaching version of this program back in August and my beta members, they're crushing it. But I recognize rather quickly that I need to get this material recorded for them to be reviewing asap. And I did it. That's part of the reason why I've been taking a break from the podcast, mostly just because we finally recorded all of those videos. And so I'm super excited about that. In addition to that, I recorded a brand new masterclass and so I don't want to share too much yet because I'm not sure if it's going to be ready by the time this episode is published. But when that masterclass is ready, create content that converts so that you can attract and connect with your ideal clients without using sleazy sales tactics. When that's ready and available, we are going to link that up in the show. Notes for you. So let's dive into today's topic, all about beginner's luck experience. So this is coming up because right now it is we're recording on Friday, October 9, which another side note, it marks the holiday season for us here at the NY Simpson NYC Simpson household, because it's my wedding anniversary and tomorrow's my daughter's birthday. And then we just start to snowball into the holidays, which in addition to this segue that reminds me that we are currently have kindergarten going on in the background because we are remote right now. So please excuse the excess noise, but I know my editor is going to do the best that he possibly can to mitigate some of that noise. But don't worry, we're going to dive into a very powerful episode talking all about beginner's luck. So I segued because I was telling you that it's October 9th right now. And so if you look out into the fitness space, you're going to see a ton lot of things that are happening. And so a lot of opportunity that is happening right now because the market, the industry, it's changing. And so a lot of my clients right now we're launching and I'm noticing a couple of things that are coming up. And it's taking me back to when I first became a trainer, and it's taking me back to when I first launched my business. And I remember having conversations with other trainers who would say to me all the time, oh, that's just beginner's luck. And so I started to take a closer look at what's actually happening when it comes to beginner's luck and why that's a thing and why people say that and what's really going on. Why? So if you've ever asked yourself, why is it that some people are always succeeding or always seem to get the outcomes that they want when it feels like others don't, or worse, it feels like you don't. Now, first, I just want to validate your feelings because I get I can feel my eyes tearing up as I'm saying this, because if you've ever said that to yourself and said, why is it that everybody else feels like they're being successful, but I'm not, I want you to know that you are not alone in those feelings. I have felt that. Other people have felt that. And chances are the people that you're looking up to, they feel that, too. And so if you've ever felt those feelings, this episode is going to be powerful for you. If you've also Ever felt like everybody else is doing it. There's not enough for me. This episode is also going to be powerful for you because I think when it comes to beginner's luck, there are three things at play. Number one, if you're feeling like there's not enough, if you're feeling like everybody else is doing it, what do I have to offer? If you're feeling like someone else can do it better and you're having those jealousy feelings, or you're having those feelings of no matter what I do so and so is going to get it better than me. Here's the thing. People will say, oh, the market is saturated, but we're not talking about market saturation. We're talking about markets sophistication. And so what that means is that it's not about how many people are there and how many people are buying. It's about getting super clear and super sophisticated in the communication of your promise of your transformation. It's about getting super clear on why your message, why your unique solution, why your program is different than all the other options that are out there. And it's not about making the other options bad or wrong. It's about showing them that right now, this is the only option for you. What I have found when beginners enter the marketplace, and so when we're dealing with this type of market sophistication, what that means is that our brain is looking for what is unique, what is new, what is revolutionary. So when beginners enter the market space, remember that beginners are new and so they have that edge. They already have a level of increasing their market sophistication than, say, an experienced person has. So when you're looking at things like market sophistication, you have to remember that you want to be on the fifth level. Now, this concept, I've talked about this before in, on the podcast. I can't remember what episode I think it was when I was talking about the offer training. But you want to be on the fifth level, which means that you are one in a market of one. And remember when you're adding on your story and your unique solution, that is automatically going to separate and differentiate you. So in addition to when beginners enter the market, not only are they getting that new factor which is that brain trigger, chances are their mind is going to be right, which I'm going to get to in number two and number three, but in addition to that is that they don't. Chances are they're not really paying attention to what else is out there because they don't know, so they're only focused on them. And I think that gives beginners an edge. So now we're going to move into number two. And what I'm talking about with number two is experience. And I start, and I alluded to it earlier when I was talking about number one, which is that experience is both a blessing and a curse, because on the one hand, you already have evidence and outcomes. That's going to give you an edge, essentially, in terms of refining your message, refining your offer, and reducing your resources in time spending spent, and also potentially revenue spent or invested, rather. But on the flip side of that, you also have experience and evidence of outcomes. And this is why outcomes are so important that we detach from them. Because what happens is so many people carry what happened last time into the next experience. Experience. And beginners, they don't have that because they don't have any context. And so when you have no context, when you have no experience, you're literally going in with whatever happens is going to be fun and exciting. And that type of energy is palpable. It carries. And people can feel that on a subconscious level level. And the other thing with experience now, when I'm talking about no experience, I just mean no experience promoting or presenting their offer. The experience that they're bringing to the table is already an unconscious confidence and competency because they have evidence and experience knowing that what they do works. And people can feel that on an unconscious level because they don't know any better. And on an unconscious level, people can feel that. And so when you bring the evidence of your experience into your launch, it can sometimes. Or when you bring the evidence of your experience into the next experience, it can sometimes be a curse. So let me give you an example. I've worked with hundreds of trainers, and they would come to me and tell me, oh, I don't want to do this kickoff, because I just know they're not going to buy. I've already done five, and no one's gonna buy. And so they already go into this kickoff or into this free experience already, assuming that this person's not gonna buy. But that's just simply not true, because every person and every experience is different. But think about it. If you were on the other side, if you were on the flip side and you were going into this kickoff, somebody was talking to you and treating you as if you were almost a burden or a waste of time, what are the chances that you're going to invest in this person? And have you considered what type of vibe you are bringing to this potential client. When you automatically going in there thinking, oh, this person's not going to buy, or this isn't going to work, people can feel that. They might not know it, but they can feel it for some reason. Something could just feel off. This happens in the online space, too. How many times I've done so many calls and none of them are working right. The outcomes that happened previously, they're irrelevant. It doesn't mean anything. And so beginners have an edge in this way because they have no context, they have no outcomes, and they can't compare it to anything. And this kind of leads, and I said this, but it leads to a 2.5 point, which is that beginners mindsets are important as long as you're holding that unconscious confidence which comes from competence. So a beginner's mindset is powerful. When you are confident, so confident in what it is that you have to offer, and you know that you can provide a powerful transformation, but you don't have any context or expectations for what it's supposed to go like or be like, that is a very powerful position to work from. Which leads to number three, which is that beginners, when you have no context, beginners are so grateful for the people that say yes. So grateful. Let me give you an example of me and how my experience had jaded me. When I first started my business, I would lay awake and think, can I just get 50 people into this challenge? I just want to serve 50 people. And I would lay awake at night thinking, where are my 50 people? How can I get to my 50 people? You know what? That year, I did three challenges, I think, and I would get 25 each time. And I would ask myself, why am I not getting 50 people? That's all right. I would stay and serve the 25. Then in this last challenge that I did, I ended up getting 180 people. And I was so disappointed. I remember feeling, I can't believe I only have 180 people. Those were words I was using. And then I thought about it, and I took a moment to recognize that when I was beginning, I would have been ecstatic. If I had had 180 people in my challenge, I would have been over the moon about it. And I had to remember that gratitude is the attitude. And beginners are so grateful for whatever the outcomes are. And that is another super powerful place to work from. And the more gratitude you could have for whatever outcomes that come, the better, because more of that will just be brought back to you. And beginners unconsciously have that just because they're beginners. And so that's why beginners tend to always seem like they get the look or it seems like, oh, they're just lucky. But it's not the case. So for me, and in my business, I'm always going back to how can I operate from that place emotionally? Which is, number one, making sure that my marketing message is sophisticated. Am I one in a market of one? Is my communication of my perceived value 10 times worth the asking? Investment in my content? In my sales mechanism? Have I dismantled all of the objections? Have I demonstrated the demand? Have I discredited all the options? And just to remember, that doesn't mean making the other options bad or wrong. That just means that right now this is the only option. And then number two, operating from that place of it doesn't matter what happened before, all we have is now. Now is the only thing that matters. And then number three, being grateful for whatever happens, even if it isn't the outcome that we had anticipated or expected to. Just be grateful. Because remember, you're either going to get the success that you want or the lesson that you need.
