What's up, coach? Thank you so much for pushing play on another episode of the PT Profit Podcast. I'm your host, Beverly Simpson, and if this is the first time that you're hanging out with me, welcome. I'm sorry. Super pumped that you're here. Today we're getting into a new series which we just wrapped up. Two series. The first series that we wrapped up was the 10 common reasons why Most People Aren't Where They Want To Be yet and what to Do Instead. And then. And then we. Then we did a series of coaching conversations where I just really shared with you some behind the scenes of what it's like to get into the weeds with me. And then now we're going to be going through the paradoxes of business, the contradictions that seem to be both true. Meaning that it feels like living on the razor's edge, where it's both caring about nothing and everything at the same time. And speaking of time, that is one of the biggest contradictions that we see floating around in the interwebs that I want to share with you some insight and give you my context and what I share with my students to help you both manage your expectations as well as help you make an impact and generate income that you want faster. Because when you do that, you'll help more people and raise industry standards. So let's get into it. So this has come up a lot. So let's just go through the paradox or the. The contradiction. Number one, people will say, time is an illusion. There's no such thing as time. So we've got the theory, the relativity of time, right? Which is that if you touch a stove for two minutes, it's going to feel a hang of a lot different than hanging out with your friends for two minutes now while the actual passing of the seconds remains, because that's how we measure the passing of time. While that is true, the experience of what happened and transpired is going to feel very different, right? So it's this idea and concept that time is an illusion. And then we also, on the other hand, have like, growing a business takes time. You need time. It takes time. We have to build time to build, know, like, and trust. Oh, my gosh. I always just groan when I hear that. Because what ends up happening, if you're anything like me, is that we start to try and build a community of people that like you. And people, people are not buying from you because you went to the same high school, because you had the same. Because you're a mom, because of all the reasons that we start to think that we need to show up on social and vulnerability, vomit on the interwebs when that isn't how people make a buying decision. Now, with that said, we have to understand, and you've heard me, you've probably heard tons of people say that it's not about time. It's about reps and it's about volume. Okay? Meaning the access to the people that you have around you, the network that you can leverage. And so what we have to understand. And I'm slowing down because it's really important, there are going to be things that you can control and things that you can't control. And it shows up in the presentation of time. So, for example, you cannot control how long it's going to take someone who's never heard of you before and becoming a customer. It is not your job to speed up that process. It's not. Otherwise you're going to spend your time convincing somebody of something. And I'm not here to convince anyone of anything. It is your job to show up consistently and communicate the value that your offers bring to the table. That's your job. It's your job to continue to communicate what's at stake. If someone says no, that's your job. You cannot control how long it's going to take somebody to move through their own ladder of believability where they believe in you, they believe in your offer, they believe in themselves, and they believe that they need it now, that you cannot control, that you can control how many times they see the offer. You can't control how many asks that they're presented with. You can't control how often you show up and you stay in their prefrontal cortex. You can change that. You can't change how long it takes them to move through the ladder of believability. So that's why we start to feel like, oh, it takes time because it takes what it takes. That's it. And the time that it takes. We can't control that. We can't control how often we show up. We can't control the reps, we can't control how many people that we talk to. We can control that. And so the other thing that I want to talk about though, in conjunction to this and the reason why I brought this up is because oftentimes we feel these disappointment or we feel disappointment because of unmet expectations. And I recently did this. I recently did this and I can own this and I'm responsible for this. Like it for an accelerator client recently where I was reading his, his check ins and I was like, he's doing so great. Why is he so hard on himself? Why is he being so down? Why is he so frustrated? And it was because I had set the expectation, I had set the bar of like, you can get x result in 30 days. You can hit 10k in 30 days, no problem. You can hit 10k in an hour. What happens though is that we have to be really honest with ourselves about what that would take. And if you listen to Monday's episode, I talked a little bit about this when I really gave you a behind the scenes look of what my business looks like in the sense that if I were to hit 500k in December, I would need 50 accelerator clients and if I were going to onboard 50 accelerator clients in one month, that would need a lot of infrastructure, a lot of support, a lot of components that are required in order for that to happen. So it's not that it's not possible, it's just likely not plausible. So I did that and I could own that. And it also, you know, and so it's likely not plausible, but I don't have any emotional charge to what that means. I used to. And so if that's happening to you, it's something to look at. Okay. Meaning that we have to live on the razor's edge where we care about everything and nothing at the same time. Which means that these are the requirements I would need to do and fulfill on 200 calls in a month. I know it's possible. I've been on sales teams before where that's happened, where I've had to do 200 calls or where 200 calls happened in a day, but there was 40 of us on the team. And I want you to think about the volume of people that would be required in order for that to happen. And in addition to that, we also have to recognize that in order to drive that type of sales, you have to have a level of skill and Skill. Skill in communicating the value you bring and conviction behind what it is that you're offering. And when you have that and when you do that, the sky's the limit. But oftentimes, especially when we're first starting out or when we have these expectations, then we start to feel disappointment if we don't reach it. Especially for my high achievers. So if you're like me, you're not alone. That was. That kept me. That kept me stuck for a lot longer than I had wanted. And so skill acquisition takes reps, which inevitably, inherently also takes time. But you can control how fast, how many you want to do. Because straight up, when you go for volume not you will likely acquire the skill faster than if you're getting stuck in perfection go for volume, you will inevitably just get better. So is it it takes time to build a business or time is an illusion? The truth of the matter is it's both. The experience of time is going to be different and you need time to acquire skill to acquire the reps. Here's the rub. Here's how you can stay emotionally regulated is focus on what you can control instead of what you can't. Recognize that there is a difference between the outcomes that happened and performance. And then the meaning of we make it. The meaning we. We make it mean we're not hitting these expectations or whatnot. So. So while it is totally possible that you could hit 10k in a minute, you can hit 10k in a day, you can hit 10k in 30 days. Your level of emotional regulation, of personalizing. No how fast you can get up when you fall down. Cause it's inevitable you will fall down. Your. Your level of skill acquisition speed, how fast it takes you to acquire the skill as well as what. Where your predisposition is in terms of the skill meaning. When I first came into the online space, I had 13. I had. I always say 13. But I had five years of experience underneath me presenting efforts. That skill came with me. That skill translated. Nobody starts at the same point. A so you have to give yourself grace. Just like you can't Compare your day one to someone else's day 100, you also can compare your day one to someone else's Day one because everybody's got it is playing at different starting lines. While that's unfortunate and a bummer in lots of ways, we can't control it. We have to accept it. And the faster you can accept it, the faster you'll be able to move through that uncomfortability of disappointment. So this means release attachment to the outcome and it's hang of a lot easier said than done. But that's how you'll be able to acquire the reps faster because you'll fall down and you'll just get up faster. You want to expedite the results, then you need to. You want to increase conversions and you need to increase your conversations and get organized in what you're prioritizing. And when you do that, the sky's the limit.
