You're listening to the PT Profit podcast, episode number 59. Today it's just you and me, and we're talking all about how to create consistent 10k months. Are you ready? Let's get started.
Hi, I'm Beverly Simpson, former fitness manager turned online personal training business owner. And this podcast is where smart fitness professionals, including trainers and clinicians, discover how to increase client performance in movement, package and position their products and services, and get out of their own way so that they can increase their revenue to live a life that they love without sleazy sales. Welcome to the PT Profit Podcast.
What's up, coach? Thanks so much for hanging out with me today. Welcome back to another episode of the PT Profit podcast, episode number 59. I'm your host, Beverly Simpson, and if it's your first time hanging around here, then welcome and thank you so much for pushing Play today. So, first of all, I am super excited because this is the first time that we're hanging out in my new store in my new studio. I don't know if you've been following me over on Instagram, but my husband and I worked diligently to create this new studio, kind of just change things up, which was really amazing and fun and exciting and I'm really happy about it. Now, I know you all are listening, chances are on the podcast, but I do have some filmed versions and it's on the YouTube. So I just wanted to elevate my space and just really help that color pop. So I'm really excited to be in the new studio. Also, we're recording on Monday the 15th, which is a holiday here in the United States, and so my kids are home. Good thing Daddy's home. Listen, I've been trying. Daddy helps so, so much with this room and he's been helping out with the kids when I'm working and he's home. But I'm not going to lie to you, I have been trying forever to get him to come and work inside the business. But no, he does not want to do that, even though he does it. He does so much for me, for the family and for the business anyway. But all that to say he helped me and he's helping me with the kids right now. So I'm super grateful. So I just ask that you have grace and forgive me if there are any ambient noises of children in the background, but I swear Daddy's home and taking care of it. And so before we roll in today's show, if you have not heard yet, starting on February 22nd, I will be running a three part live training called simple selling. So there's already over 500 people that have registered for this training and they are still super excited in ants. And honestly, so am I. And it's because of the questions that I keep hearing over and over from them and also from my clients, all about how we can create consistent 10k months that really led me to create this episode. Because the truth, you're probably closer to 10k months than you realize. And inside of this training, Simple Selling, we are going to be going over the three pillars of performance that will unleash inconsistent income inside of your business. We're going to start to uncover these performance pillars today in this episode. But in the three part live training, we are going to unpack them. And it's the perfect opportunity for you to get into the community because a collective mind is way more valuable than just mine. I'm going to bring you strategy, insight, years of experience that's ultimately going to help you generate that consistent income inside of your business that you're looking for using your content. Because inside of this three part training, I'm going to teach you how to master your message and really master the art and science of non selling. Because you can sell every day, all day, using your content and the truth you're selling every day anyway, whether you're selling your perspective, selling your products, selling your services. And the reason why I'm so passionate about doing this work is because I have worked with hundreds of personal trainers and, and also physical therapists and I'm going to tell you right now that the ones that are the smartest, the ones that live in the top 1% of their fields, tend to be the ones that struggle the most. And it kills me because I've seen other well meaning trainers that just are not as qualified as you are to be training human bodies. And if you're listening to this episode right now and wondering, oh no, am I in the top 1%? Am I one of the well meaning trainers or am I the smart trainer that I'm just going to go ahead and answer that question for you right now and tell you that you are in the top 1%. Because if you're even asking yourself that question, it already means and tells me that you are in the top 1%. Because those well meaning trainers that are generating 50k a month, they don't even question whether or not they're in the top 1%. Which ultimately leads to where we're going in this episode, which is what separates the trainers, the coaches that generate the revenue on a consistent basis from the ones that struggle. And of course we're going to be getting into some strategy. But I'm going to just tell you right now, friends, nine times out of ten, it's not the strategy that's preventing you from creating consistent income on a consistent basis. But before we go on, I just want to go ahead and close that loop. If you have not signed up and joined me for this free training, it's completely free. The chance for you to get coached and get your questions unpacked and answered. There's a link inside of the show notes that is going to help you and lead you to where you can sign up for this free training that simple selling. And we're starting on February 22, so hopefully you're just as pumped as I am to get started. So let's dive into what I was talking about when it comes to creating those consistent months. Because, friends, I'll give you the strategy. I'll even tell you the three pillars of performance right now. It's what I created my entire methodology, my entire formula around. But ultimately it tends to not be the strategy. It tends to be the invisible. And there are three, three parts to the invisible that we'll go over today. Number one, it is your in your ability to decide. I've worked with so many people and I'm going to tell you right now. And not just the people. Me too. The ability to make a decision one way or the other is really ultimately what separates the CEOs from being successful, successful than the ones that are struggling. It's because the CEOs are not. And this is also leads to the number two, which is attachment. Now, you've heard me talk about this often on the podcast, but if this is the first time that you're here, then it's, it is attachment decision and attachment. They're married because the CEOs that are successful, the seven figure earners, they have that same fear. They're worried about getting it right, getting it wrong as well. But they just take action. They just do it anyway. And then they trust that whatever is meant to happen is going to happen. And they let the chips fall where they may. And they're not necessarily attached to the outcomes. They don't make. This is number two, they don't make the outcomes mean anything about who they are as a coach, as a CEO, as a business owner. It doesn't mean anything. But this is where strategy comes into play. Because just because it doesn't mean anything doesn't mean that they don't matter. The strategy and measuring the metrics that matter when those are combined with the invisible components, we've got a seven figure business on our hands. Congratulations. The third and most important component in the invisible. I've been really racking my brain before pressing play on. You know, what other word can I use besides mindset? Because it's such a buzzword in the marketing community and in the fitness community, we're always talking about our mindset. But really, I posted yesterday on Valentine's Day about how the greatest love story you can have is the one with yourself. Because honestly, you know and I know that for all I know that I actually have a lot of males in my, in my world and in my let listen to my podcast and honestly, the lot of males that I coach and the truth is that I actually carry a lot of masculine energy myself. And so when we start talking about feelings and personal development, I want to shut down. But because the truth is that's where the magic is right there is your relationship and love with yourself. Are you putting the work in to master your money mindset? Are you putting the work in to, to comfortably say that you love your, you love yourself? I mean, even my dad's out there will easily tell their, their kids that they love their kids. But are you doing that for yourself? But honestly, really spending the time in that invisible component, you might think it's not worth it, but that is where you're going to start building the confidence to charge what you're worth. This is where you're going to start creating the boundaries around what you will and will not tolerate with your own community, with your clients. This is where you'll get to making those decisions faster. Because the seven figure CEOs are not spending the time. You know, they're not spending time. Is this right? Is this wrong? Now let me just qualify really quick to say that they are going to spend time in their messaging and they are going to spend time considering who they're speaking to. They are going to invest that time, resources, resource into unpacking. But when it comes to the decision making that is made and there often isn't a lot of of wiggle room around. Is this right? Is this wrong? Am I going to get this right? They're going to make the decision, they're going to let the chips fall to where they may and they're going to use the metrics that matter to decide what to do next. Because it's not about getting it right. And marketing specifically is about guessing, testing and assessing but that self development component in the invisible, mastering that money mindset, that is ultimately going to be what unlocks. That is the magic that is what unlocks. So when you have those three invisible components married to the strategy, strategy is the fast, fun, easy part. And I know you're like Beverly, that's what you teach. So it's easy for you to say, I get that, Believe me, I get that. But those skills, the strategy, it can be learned quickly. It's kind of like when you are working on your own fitness journey or you're watching your clients working on their fitness journey, teaching them the nutrition and the training components, the science behind it, in a simple way, that tends to be the fast part. It's not going to take 30 minutes or whatnot, but it doesn't take years upon years to teach them the science behind what you're doing. You're spending the time in the behavior, in getting them to stay consistent, to becoming a metabolic detective and figuring out what works best for their body. That takes time. That's where the time is. That's where the investment of your resources are and staying accountable and consistent and then having you as a coach to help them see what they can't see because we're all so close to our own stuff. Listen, the same is true here in business. The strategy part can be taught. Yeah, it takes some time, it takes some repetition, sure. But then having that coach, that's going to help you see what you can't see and remove those roadblocks and help you work on the three invisible, that's where the fun part is. That's where the work is and that's where the process is. And I call that fun. Because the truth is that we could be looking for these, reaching for these outcomes. We can be trying to make 100k, you know, those consistent 10k months, we could be reaching for a million. But if we can't have fun in the process, then what's the point? Because the majority of the time that you're going to be spending is in the process. And so now earlier I said that you're probably closer to those 10k months than you realize. Because ultimately, when it comes to business, it is rather simple. We need to find and attract an audience of people that have a problem and then we sell them the solution. And all businesses have a customer journey. Now I am going to talk about this in more in depth when we get into the simple selling, live training. But all customers have a journey where they go, because all businesses go from people to prospects to purchasers. And there is that customer journey where they go through their ladder of believability from I believe in you, I believe in your offer, I believe in myself that I can do it, and I believe that I need it now. And your content is going to be what carries them through that customer journey. Now, I'm going to go super deep when we are in that live training, so be sure to join us if you haven't already. And honestly, that ladder of believability, that experience, that customer journey can literally happen in three posts. It can happen in one post, it could happen in a podcast and a dm. It could take months. But it's really not about time. It's about how clearly you can communicate the value of your offer and shining light on the consequence of not getting started and staying in the problem and then the speed in which you connect with your potential customers. And so let's just break down quickly the three pillars of performance that the PT profit formula lives by, which is number one, building that profitable product. This is why I say all the time, friends, you are closer to 10k months than you realize, which is that if you get 10 one on one clients that are all paying you 1k a month, you've got 10k. So this is where those three invisible components come in, right? Because when I say that, how does that land? How does that feel? What comes up for you? Do you automatically go into the. Yeah, but Beverly, nobody's going to pay 1k a month for me. Beverly. What I do is vain. Beverly. This is where the work comes in because we need to start unpacking that and we also need to make sure that we are coming up with an offer with a product that is legitimately 10 times the value of the asking investment. If you are wanting to work with a client that's 1k a month, great. What's the 10k problem? Because that's what we're solving and what goes into that offer. Now we're gonna, I, we're gonna go really deep into this. So don't sweat it. If this is the first time that you're hearing this and then our work becomes communicating the value. Now that's if you're starting from scratch. Oftentimes people want that consistent 10k months and they've only got a 3k or 2k gap to fill that in. Plenty of work that we can do to make that happen. Okay, then the second pillar of performance is the powerful position. Now, I got a lot of heat last week and I was actually surprised because I did not intend at all when I said, you know, just post isn't a marketing strategy. Just post every day is no marketing strategy. My Gary V. Ride or dies, they just like came at me. And honestly I did not, it wasn't even. I did not mean that to attack Gary Vee. I love him. I actually think that he helps a lot of people. I respect him and I was not coming going after him at all. But one of the things, the reason why I made that post is because how many of you in the audience have. How many of you listening right now have posted every single day? If you're anything like me, I posted every single day for a year and nothing happened. Now I get why that's important and I get why that's valuable because no one on the Internet is going to know or discover you or find you if you are not showing up. So I'm not saying that just posed isn't important. But what happens is that those amazing well meaning coaches, they don't unpack what specifically it is that they're doing in their messaging, in their content and in their copy which is a leading to the customers. That's where the work, that's where the work is. That's where the reps are. And how can you work on something that's not being taught to you? This is why I, this is where and why I start to think that those well meaning coaches steer you wrong. Because I've done that. And it wasn't until I figured out how to create a magnetic messaging and a powerful position with my content and with the way I teach it and what I teach it and how I teach it. That was when things started to unlock for me and also for my clients in the fitness space because I'll even, I'll even say sometimes to myself, oh, but Beverly, you teach business, it's so easy for you. That's not true. Do you know how many struggling broke business coaches are out there? That I know a ton. Beverly, it's easier to sell business coaching because you can charge more for that. Do you realize that what you are saying is that oh people don't value their health and that their health is not worth it. Friends, if you don't have your health, you have nothing. And you and I know this because we care and prioritize our health and what is close to us is most easy. But to your client, they don't know it. With my coaches and with my clients and with my, my plus members, I've been sharing my husband's struggle because I've been watching him struggle. I'm telling you right now, he has that 10k problem we're trying to solve. And it has nothing to do with business. It has everything to do with his health, his concerns about the longevity of being here for his children. That's a 10k problem. He's inundated with information, feeling completely overwhelmed about what's going to work for him when it seems like everything works. So making sure that we have that powerful message, that magnetic message that's going to pull your people to you is going to be honestly what separates you from the rest. Because that's what people like my husband need. They're looking for that person. They're looking for that guide that's going to come in and say, hey, it's me. I'm what you're looking for. And then we're going to go into the third, which is the purposeful plan. You're going. This is the other component and reason why it always drives me crazy when I hear just post every day. Well, that's like trying. That's like saying to your client, oh, just get into the gym every day. How many of your clients struggle because they're constantly just running on the treadmill or just going to the group fitness classes? How many clients have you worked with that have said to you, oh, I go, I work out six times a week, but I'm not getting any of my results just because they're not working on a periodized strength training program that is designed specifically with progressive overload in mind. Right? Your marketing and your business works the same way. People tell me all the time, I don't want to feel sleazy when I'm selling. I don't want to be pushy, I don't want to always be talking about selling. This is why we put together a period and I's marketing plan so that your customers go through your people, your audience go through that customer journey where they feel taken care of, nurtured, supported, heard by you. And the plan is ultimately going to be what puts that on for you. This is also the plan. We plan time to make time. This plan is where your freedom comes. Because most people, most trainers that are working on their business, they are coming to me because they're tired, trading dollar for hour and they want to leverage their time and they want to have more freedom in their workday because nobody deserves to hustle harder, grind harder, because there's only so many hours in a day and your time is the most valuable resource that we have. And when you prioritize your time, you end up having more time, more time and more money. So there you have it. Those are the three pillars of performance that we will be unpacking in that live training. Simple Selling. So hopefully, hopefully you are joining me next week and I'm going to catch you on the next episode.
