What if there was an easier and faster way as a health professional to generate more impact and more income without focusing on growing a huge, massive social media audience or even more leads at all? Let's get started.
Hi, I'm Beverly Simpson, former fitness manager turned online personal training business owner. And this podcast is where smart fitness professionals, including trainers and clinicians, discover how to increase client performance and movement, package and position their products and services and get out of their own way so that they can increase their revenue to live a life that they love without sleazy sales. Welcome to the PT Profit Podcast.
What's up coach? Thank you so much for pushing play on another episode of the Profit Podcast. I'm your host, Beverly Simpson, and if this is the first time you're hanging out with me today, welcome. I'm super pumped that you're here. As a former district fitness manager for a national gym responsible for bringing in $2.1 million per year plus growing two multiple six figure businesses online, I have learned a thing or two. And in today's episode, I'm going to walk you through how you can actually generate more income with the current audience that you have access to right now. Even if you feel like you have a handful of followers. Here's the truth of the matter. Because most people are constantly focused accidentally on popularity metrics instead of profitability metrics. Like they just want more followers, more likes, more comments, and more shares. And I get why it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking more people will automatically mean more sales. But I probably don't have to tell you that that's like trying to fill up a colander up with water and then wondering why it's not filling up. I get why we want to have more volume, because it's easy to fall into that trap. Plus, we have everyone on the planet telling you, grow an audience, grow an audience, grow an audience. But here's why that's accidentally chasing popularity metrics instead of profitability metrics. Because one, I can't tell you how many times people have slid into my DMs asking me how to monetize a following of 50,000 followers plus number one. And then number two, if we really look at Instagram and other social platforms, I'm going to use Instagram in this case. But if you really look at those social platforms and you really think about it, the number one priority of the social media platform is to keep people onto the platform as long as possible. And so oftentimes the content that is most shareable, likable, Enjoyable are not usually the ones that are promotional. Now that doesn't mean that promotional content doesn't matter. In fact, my highest converting pieces of content are oftentimes the pieces of content that are not the most popular. They're not. They don't have the most likes, they don't have the most comments, they don't have the most shares. So the question becomes, well, how do we align the objectives of the social media platforms where someone stays on the platform as well as converts? And this is where we begin to master the art of selling without selling. Now, I've done really in depth episodes, which I'm sure we'll link up in the in the show notes where I really go into how specifically we do that. However, for the tact, ability and tangibility of today's episode, I'm going to give you some actual step by step things that you can really be thinking about so that you can actually increase your income without even worrying about reaching new people, without even worrying about reaching more leads. Because it's easy to fall into that trap of more leads, more popularity, and then getting the dopamine hits of falling into trying to Instagram hack your business. Meaning what time should I post, what should I post and then how many hashtags and should I go off the platform and so on and so forth. Because really, ultimately, when it comes down to how can you solve your ideal client's problem faster so that they get the outcome that they want, that's going to be how you grow a business faster. This is the secret sauce of what separates the coaches who are successful from the ones who continue to struggle. So the first step really, when it comes to doubling your impact and your income is just making sure you're really clear on your offer stack. What is your offer stack and what is your promotional content calendar? Because just because something's not engaged with doesn't mean that it doesn't matter. And that it doesn't. It's not important because it is. So once you're clear on what your offers are and what your promotional stack is, we need to recognize and realize that 3% of the current audience that you have access to, the ones that are right there or the ones that you have access to are ready to buy something. Now it just ultimately comes down to have we communicated the value of our offers to the right person at the right time, that's what it comes down to. Then we need to understand what the actual business growth equation is. It's visibility value and volume visibility in terms of are you seen you cannot be the Internet's best kept secret. Are you adding value, but not value in edu explaining, which is the term that I invented the other day, edges. We're not trying to just educate our people to death. What you are thinking about when you're adding value is, are you shifting perspective? Are you identifying their blind spots and removing roadblocks? Are you giving them results in advance? Meaning instead of telling them what to do, you're actually showing them how specifically this process will work for them to solve their problem in order to get the outcome that they want? And are you providing a clear, simple path that they can follow step by step in order to generate the revenue or in order to achieve the goals that they want, whatever those goals are, and inviting them to say yes to themselves? Because once you really shift your perspective around knowing that asking someone to saying yes is value, adding me going into the grocery store to buy my groceries, that is adding value to my life. It's adding convenience. It's making things faster. Instead of me having to go to the avocado store and then going to the water store and then going to the protein store, whatever the case may be, it adds convenience. Having all of the ingredients in one place. Then number two, volume. And not just volume in terms of number of people, but volume in terms of number of touch points, number of touch points in terms of people saying yes to themselves. When you have that dialed in, then your business will grow and your audience will grow, your leads will grow, and your clients and customers will grow. But so many people fall into the trap of constantly trying to get in front of new customers or new people instead of really dialing in the access to the network that they already have and really, really serving the people that are right there in front of you. Okay, so for this episode, here's what I would tell you to do. Okay, so first and foremost, are you. Do you have a tight feedback loop with your current clients and customers? Meaning are you. Have you set up an omnipresence where you are increasing the volume of touch points to either remove doubt or move them towards desire? So what does that mean? Doubt is gonna show up in terms of, like, I don't know if this works for. Is this gonna work for me? Do I need this now? Can I do this? I tried something like this yesterday. Am I gonna be able to do this tomorrow? What if I pour it in? Is this the right coach for me? Like, you need to be able to remove all that doubt. And every time you do this by shifting perspective, by showing them Results by providing a clear path and you're good and then moving them towards desire is demonstrating and showing them the possibility of what is possible when they say yes to themselves. Because you have a spectrum of relatability where people need to feel understood, they need to feel seen, they need to feel heard. And then you move them toward, towards the pleasure of the possibility of what it is that they want and showing them that you are the guide when you're really looking at that hero's journey. So are you nurturing the people you already have access to or are you like me and accidentally a high achiever and discrediting the people that are already there? Oh, I only got 10 people. I only got 15 people. These are human beings on the other side of the profile. So I also want you to remember. So whether Your list is 10 people or 15 people, or maybe you're just completely starting from scratch and you need to go to your network, meaning people that you used to work with, past clients, current clients, maybe your friends and family who might know. People don't be afraid to reach out to that network because even if someone said no to working with you, they might have access to someone in their network. Okay, so make sure your referrals are dialed in. Make sure that your, you know, as you grow and as you become like bigger and have a bigger business, your time is going to get limited. So how can you best maximize the time that you have right now? Meaning can you know, can you do that extra mile of connecting with your followers? Can you go that extra mile and go live? Can you do that extra mile and comment and go in dn every single person that commented or liked who's on your email list. Can you go through every single one of them? Like, these are your moments where you can be, you know, you're, you know, having more time is a super power because people don't want automation, they want connection. So this is your opportunity to connect deeper with people. So where can you, you, you maximize that and say someone else can. Jillian Michaels is not dming every single person. So can you go and connect with people that have already said yes to you? How can you serve them, go deeper with them? Can you get them on the phone just to get some market research? Why do they. No, of course I've talked about. Surveying is not that great, you know, because people, people will tell you what they think you want them to hear or people will tell you, you know, people will tell you they won't give you like the real reasons as to why they're following you or what it is that they want or need or they'll tell you what they think. You want to hear what they think that they need. So I'm usually cautious, but you wanna just talk to them, hear what they're saying, what they're thinking and see how you could dig deeper and maybe read between the lines if you need to or want to. But really, you know, you get to connect with your people on a deep level. That's a superpower. So what are you willing to do that you think your other that, that your colleagues might not be willing to do? Because that will be the magical difference. Are you willing to go to the, the extra mile that other people aren't? Can you show up more? People want to help me. Like people. People tell me all the time they want to, you know, help people. We'll post more. And then they're like, oh, I don't want to post. I hate posting. Well, if you, the more you post, the more you help. So post more. I would say that's number three. So number one is your current network. Two is going to be going deeper with the people and followers that you already have. Can you go deeper? Can you go live more? Can you answer their questions? Can you get them on the phone? Number three, can you post more? Can you help more people show up more and post more? Then number four, ask. We need to ask more. You need to sell more than you think. And that is going to require that you look at your relationship to selling. But, but when we look at, at volume, right, and we're looking at that growth equation, volume of touch points. So ask more. Just invite them to say yes to themselves. That is value added. Go deeper with your current clients. How can you get them a result faster? How can you help them? And if you're like, but I don't have any clients, then really down and start sharing your experience. What helped you? What got you results faster? Okay, now we need to collaborate. So now we're going into our network. Here's the things that we can do. But now can we use other people's network? Can we borrow other people's authority? So who do you know in your network that you can collaborate with that you can be positioned as an authority and an expert in front of that's going to help you grow and double your impact without having to constantly stress about new leads. Is there an additional offer that you can put in front of someone who's already a customer? This is why I like to build, why I like to use low ticket options and why I like to build my email list of people who are already buyers because chances are it is much cheaper to increase lifetime customer value having someone renew versus to try and acquire a new client or customer. So what if they, if they really liked workouts, maybe they'll also like recipes. If they liked recipes, maybe they'll like workouts. If they like recipes, maybe they'll like supplements. If they like supplements, maybe they'll like mindfulness. Like there's just like what other offers can you offer to them? Whether they're, whether they are, they are created or not. Hey, if I were to create this, would you want to do this? But people who said no, maybe you offered a premium offer to someone, is there something that you can offer to them that is a lower ticket offer? Something that it's like, hey, maybe you're not ready to invest in this, but what about this? So put another different offer in front of people who've said no. Or maybe you offered them a low ticket offer, but maybe they want more customization. So can you put another offer in front of them that maybe is a little bit more customized or done for you? And then lastly, and I want to say this because this is like most people miss. This is the follow up, follow up, follow up, follow up. And don't worry about the language like oh, they said don't say it's just circling back, just checking in on you. No, literally genuinely reach out, ask people how they are. Hey, checking in on you. Wanted to see last time we we connected. Keep following up. People underestimate the power of the follow up because that's why we build these pressure free sales system. Because there, there is nothing. Just because they said no, not right now, doesn't mean no forever. And they'll let you know if it's no forever. Even people who have unfollowed me come back to follow me now.
