Hi, I'm Beverly Simpson, former fitness manager turned online personal training business owner and this podcast is where smart fitness professionals, including trainers and clinicians, discover how to increase client performance and movement, package and position their products and services and get out of their own way so that they can increase their revenue to live a that they love without sleazy sales. Welcome to the PT Profit Pod. What's up coach? Thank you so much for joining me in another episode of the PT Profit podcast. Whether you're watching or listening, I'm super pumped that you're here. Can't wait to get started. Today's episode is going to be a workshop style episode. Right now I am recording it at the end of 2024 and if you've been following, following me along on Instagram, bsims and fitness. The other day I posted a post about how 2024 was not an epic year. It was a year. Now I thought it was really powerful and important to discuss this because I think in the world of Internet marketing at least we are caught up in real in extremes where we're really high highs, huge transformation. I went from 6k a year to a million and you know, just huge transformations. You know, I was homeless and now I'm a millionaire. And we see this a lot in the health and wellness space, right? I lost £100 or I lost £50 and I did it without counting or these huge, massive transformations. And it usually starts from extreme experiences all the way to another extreme. If you're anything like me, sometimes when I hear these amazing stor, I start to think that my story, my experience is just average or bland or nothing to write home about. Like, we had a great year. We did a typical growth, but it was a good 3% growth year over year. However, we did have growth, but it wasn't this big, massive 4x growth. It was your average, what you would typically see from business year to year. And so there was no huge crisis. I mean, sure, every business is going to have challenges and your business is a clear reflection of the challenges that you can handle at this moment. However, it was nothing to write home about in terms of extremes. And so I think what happens in the space if you're anything like me, you start to think, oh, well, it was just kind of boring. It was just average. Therefore, that means whatever, insert whatever you want. I no longer do this. But I used to insert things like, oh, that means I can't show up online, that means no one's who's gonna listen to me. I don't have an extreme transformation. You know, we start to tell ourselves stories and meanings of your experiences. And this is part of what the brain does. Now, we've done a couple of energy episodes over the years, over the 376 episodes. So if you're new to me, I'll make sure that I link some of them up. But some of the ones that come to mind are the ones that I did with Brend, it's the ones that I did an EMDR one. I also did one with Makozi, who is a shaman. We'll make sure that we link those up because it's important to continue to remember, you know what it is. Because it's important to celebrate where you have come from and recognize that where you're at right now, at whatever level, there's someone that needs to hear you too. So it's interesting. I'm about to do this goal setting workshop and I'm gonna walk you through the process of what I carry my accelerators through. Because it's so important that we do this, we do this year over year. And what I found this year, if I'm being honest and transparent, is the magic of maintenance. Okay, so what do I mean by that? I mean that this year was a good year. We had good growth. It wasn't this huge, massive transformation. And I'm feeling neutral about it, which I think is good, because earlier this year, and I've shared this for a couple of years, I have been trying to hit that seven figure mark. And what I recognized this year, as I personally went through the process, I'm about to walk you through and walk my accelerator through, I realized that being in maintenance mode, preventing me from getting to that next level, from breaking through that gap. Okay. Now in the past, I have, and I'm so close. Oh, my gosh, we are so close. It's almost laughable. But it is almost like, I cannot believe it. We are going to do it in 2025. It is done. So this is part of what we're going to talk about today. We're so close to that mark. So part of what I'm looking for is I'm looking for evidence that stacks up against, wait, I'm a seven figure earner. I already feel alive. I already know that it is done. And so I'm for evidence so that I can show my brain that it is possible. I started looking at my revenue and I started totaling my revenue over the years and I realized, oh my gosh, I have already crossed the seven figure mark personally. I have already brought in over a million dollars. I started to revenue stack and realized that I have personally now this. I'm not even including the fact when I was a former district fitness manager that I was responsible for $2.1 million in my region. Like, I'm not even including that. So that's something to be aware of in addition. But literally my business B. Simpson Fitness has already crossed the seven figure mark. So I'm starting to anchor that in because I realized I've been in the spirit of chase. I've been chasing, chasing, chasing. And it's been at the expense of recognizing what is already here, what is already present. And I realized, oh, be Simpson Fitness has already crossed that seven figure mark. I need to go back and look to when it was. But I've already crossed it. And so I thought to myself, I have not acknowledged that or, or, or has been like, oh, this is a win. This is amazing because I've already hit the goal. It just wasn't in the way that I wanted it. It hasn't been in a compressed container yet. I haven't done it in a year. So I've been discounting it. And that's absolutely one of the worst things that you can do because your brain needs to see evidence of it already being true. And then we start to stack it. Okay, so this is something I'm realizing as I'm going into 2025. And I think that I'm going to just share personally. I think that if I had not done that or if I had not been able to be in a neutral emotional state about where I am and hitting the goals, there's no way I would have recognized or seen that. So it's already a huge testimony to how far I've come and how far our team has come. And oh my gosh, I'm getting choked up. I feel like I got choked up last year when I was doing the Goal, you know, the year. The year review episode. So I'm just so. There's so much that I am super proud of and there's so many areas of opportunity or there are areas of opportunity that me and the team are going to focus on in 2025. And one of the things that came up for me was the magical middle or the magical middle of maintenance. And I realized two things. I realized that when we're successful or we reach some sort of success in our business that, you know, maybe for you it's the six figure for me. It's that multiple six figure mark. I know that we're hitting consistent 40k months. We're solid, we're in the groove and everything, and we'll be all right. So what starts to happen? And honestly, I also noticed this in my health and fitness journey. If you're new around here, I have shared this. I spent this year in 2024 being really consistent with my workouts, which I had not been in years past, since the pandemic, ever since the pandemic. And I stopped going to the gym and I started working from home. My business blew up right at that same time. Like, it just expanded really quickly. I had really put my health and wellness and fitness on the back burner. And the only other time that that had happened to me was when I became a fitness manager. And I know why. This happens for a lot of fitness managers, and honestly, for a lot of entrepreneurs, a lot of coaches, it is so easy to put yourself on the back burner. Parents, this happens to parents and we're starting to prioritize other things and it's just one of the worst things that you can do. And this is what I had experienced. So anyway, I noticed this in health and wellness. I also started to notice this in my business, which was that I, once I started to put my attention on it, once I started to get consistent, once I started to start to see the results that I wanted, I started to be like, okay, I started to give myself breaks. I started to automate some things that I need to do that got me here. But I was like, oh, I just. I don't need to. So I shared this on Instagram the other day, and I'll give you a tangible example in both my fitness and in my business, because wherever you go, there you are. And honestly, some of the patterns that you might be seeing, they're going to translate into different areas of your life. So. And I'm not one of those people that is, you know, how you do one thing is how you do everything. Because that's not entirely true. Sometimes people have certain components of their life really dialed in and others that, you know, they can work on. So, like, for example, you can probably think of someone who is maybe in your life, who is a millionaire, has so much wealth, but they're really unhappy and they're in their relationships or they're not feeling fulfilled, right? They don't have affluence, a rich life, they have wealth, but maybe they don't have a rich life. And or people are really dialed in in their relationships and they have areas of opportunity with their money. Right. However, you can sometimes see repeatable patterns. So for me, I noticed that I was really consistent. I was doing all the work and I started to notice that I was feeling better. I was losing some of the weights that I didn't. The unwanted. I was happy that I was consistent. So I woke up one day and I felt like I just don't feel. Feel like it. And I thought to myself, oh, you know what? I've been doing great. And I start to convince myself I'm doing great, I want to do this. And, you know, so on and so forth. And you're like. And then, you know, I don't need to work out because I just don't feel like it today. And I stopped myself in that moment. And I thought because that type of consistency that I was working on, that kind of consistency that I have been doing in the last 20, 24 year, has brought me here. And I'm going to add on to that. I am not going to go back to the neural pathways in my brain that's saying go left instead of go right when I've been going right all year long. So I stopped and said, we're just gonna start after 10 minutes. If you don't want to do it, then you can stop. Maybe then your body needs rest, but let's just see how we feel. And after 10 minutes, of course, it crushed it. And all I do is 30 minutes anyway, so it was fine and I was glad I was doing it. I asked myself in that moment, will it feel good to have been done? Okay, so that's the health and fitness example. I started to notice that I also do this in my business, meaning I'm hitting consistent 40k months. We're fine, we're good. So I stopped to, you know, my morning routine got a little bit. And I'm not a huge morning routine person, but, like, things that I know that set my day up for success. I started to be like, well, I don't need to do that anymore. I need to meditate, I need to get into silence. I need to review my quarter, review my month. I need to do all that stuff anymore because now I got it. Or I start to convince myself, oh, actually I already did that. I already did my debriefs. I already wrote down what happened this month. I already looked at all of that data and then I start to see those gaps. And I realized when I sat down and said, no, no, and I'll Tell you what moment it was for me that got me to sit down and do this is I was really tricking myself and I was saying to myself, oh, I do, I tell my accelerators to do. And I realized when I did an implement week. Now, for those of you who are in my world, you're going to know what this is. But I, in my macro and micro cycle of content, I do a week worth of promotional content for your stuff, whatever stuff that it is that you're promoting. And I encourage my accelerators to do at least once a quarter, if not once a month, a promotional week. So I realized that I decided I'm going to do a promotional week for 90 days of content because I'm going to raise the investment of that. It has been crushing. People have been doing so many amazing things with that. I'm going to raise the investment for that. So let me do a promotional week to invite people to get it at the promotional rate. And so then my accelerator started to give me feedback of, wow, it was so great to watch your implement week. It was great to see you and see how you promote. And I realized that I have not been showing them, I've been telling them what to do, but I haven't been showing them for, for no other reason. It's just that we have a lot of invisible things. A lot of the selling or the promoting happens in emails or in DMS or in conversations. So I had not been doing an implementation week. And I realized that's an example of why it's so important that you do what it is that you say that you're gonna do and demonstrate expertise in that area doesn't mean you have to be the best. And this is something I've had to learn and really, really remind myself because there's a difference between understanding information and living from the knowing. Okay, the way that I like to think of it is like this. If you were to go back and look at your favorite book that you've read multiple times, I've read Harry Potter as an ex example multiple times. But if you were to ask me what are the chapter titles of each book, I would have no idea. If you were to even ask me how many chapters are in each book, I would have no idea. It's not that that's a bad thing, it's just to remember that repetition is the mother of all learning. And we get a concept once, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it's ingrained in who we are. And so I share that because I realized that I had been tricking myself and thinking that I'm following through and that I'm demonstrating my expertise, but I hadn't been showing it. And I think part of that, at least for me, this is my opinion, part of that was that I felt like, you know, this is what I'm. So I think what happens to a lot of people is that they think they have to be at some certain level or some certain mesmerize, you know, part or certain level of expertise in order to have authority. But I probably don't have to tell you that authority and expertise are not the same thing. You probably can point to someone right now who has more authority than you, but perhaps less expertise. And so in order for me to really get present and realize that, I had to acknowledge, oh, I'm an expert and I have room to grow. And this was an area of opportunity for me to grow. I've said this before on podcasts. I think it was with a rom we were talking about it, which was that I usually can. I know this about myself, and I see this a lot in working with a lot of other coaches, is that the more dogmatic I am in my approach, I realized that was when I was the youngest in my career. That was when I had less experience. And if you look at ancient texts or ancient wisdom, you realize that it's the true experts, the people that are, you know, revered, like Buddha, Jesus, it doesn't matter your faith, but they're the ones who said, I realize I know nothing is when they became a true, true being. Even if you look at ancient wisdom or ancient text, despite your religion, like religion aside. But if you just look at it, you'll notice that the true masters are the ones that became masters when they realized they know nothing. So nuance is really important. And so for me, I realized, oh, this is an area of opportunity for me, where I have been tricking myself into thinking that I'm actually doing the work, when here's an area of opportunity for me. And part of that is because when you're in the magical maintenance of middle, or the magical middle, messy maintenance, okay, where you want to expand, but where you're at, it's okay. And so your brain is designed to automate things, things. It's designed to take the path of least resistance. And so I'm just unconsciously tricking myself for telling myself, oh, oh, oh, I am doing that. This is why people say we need to slow down, to speed up, because we need to get present to what happened. What are the lessons what do we need to alchemize? And then where do we go to move forward? And if you don't do those four things, then likely you're just going to continue to be get more of the same. You're gonna likely just keep having the same year, same problems over and over and over again. This is what I carry myself through, because here's the truth. Okay, let's just look real quick, you know, at the science of the brain. Okay? Four things that we need to know. The first is that your brain will not do anything, literally nothing that it doesn't find resourceful, that it doesn't think is going to help you survive. Okay? That's number one. Number two, we are literally hardwired to move away from pain. Okay? This is really important because pain is a moment. Suffering is the continuation of reliving that moment over and over and over again. Suffering is also reliving, or rather potentially living into moments that have yet to occur. The fear of the moment, the problem is that your brain cannot differentiate what is imagined and what is real. If you are living into a moment of stress, if you are living into fight or flight, or someone just cut me off, or you're living in anger or whatever it is, your brain is sending you energy, and that energy, you are activating that sympathetic nervous system. And a brain is sending you energy to run to your legs, to bite, to fight. And everything is just all of your creative access to your brain and energy is disappearing because your brain is literally asking, you know, when you are living into that suffering, your brain saying, okay, we need to make a change. We need more energy. Pain means pay attention. An emotional experience is literally causing your brain to make a change right now. Because your brain literally only knows now, go outside and point to tomorrow. Go outside and show me yesterday. You can't. It doesn't exist. And so your brain either is anticipating what is right now about to happen, what is happening, or what just happened. So when we are continuously living into that suffering, your brain is going, oh, need more energy, need more energy. And then we literally lose access to all of the creativity that your brain needs to get to whatever your goal is. You need to get into that parasympathetic nervous system or state. We need to activate that parasympathetic nervous system. Okay, number three. So with that said, your circumstances right now are a direct reflection of the words you say to yourself and the pictures that you see in your mind. So if you want to make a change, any change doesn't matter. It means and Will require you to rewire the brain because you must make the unfamiliar feel familiar. And the familiar what is happening now, especially if you're in a moment of pain and suffering, we must make that unfamiliar. Otherwise we'll continue to get more of the same. With that said, how do we do that? What are we going to do? So if you haven't already, grab a pen and paper because this will be workshop style. Okay, What I want you to do, what we have to do when I said earlier was we have to get present to what happened. Then we have to alchemize it. We have to the emotional charge because we need access to our brain. Then what we're going to do is extract all the lessons. And then what we're going to do is cast the vision and set your intention for what is going to happen. Anchor that into your feelings and then take inspired action and execute. And that's what I'm going to help my accelerators do. And the hardest part of that is probably going to be that neutralizing two parts. At least it's hard for me which is the neutralizing that emotional charge, both positive and negative. To be honest, I don't want anyone to necessarily feel extreme because you are not what you do. And if you're constantly chasing that, if you are constantly in that habit of chase, especially from a high achievers, then we run the risk of never feeling like we're enough. I say that from experience. So what I want you to do is I want you to just get a pen and paper, okay. And I really want you to collect all the data of what has happened in the previous year. Okay? Now I like to do this for the year and then quarter to quarter to quarter. And I have to be honest with you, I didn't in 2024, this is, this is one of my area of opportunities because I didn't do this in 2024. I just kept getting caught up in the hustle. And you need to slow down to get present so that you can see what's happening. Neutralize the emotional charge and extract the lessons. That's it. You got to do that on repeat. I need you to collect all the data of what happened and you can do this in all areas of your life. But for the purposes of this, let's just do this right now for our sake, for the business. Okay? So I want you to look at three main departments. I want you to look at marketing and sales. Let's look at marketing, let's look at sales. Let's look at fulfillment. These are kind of the three things that we can look at. So I want you to just ask yourself, what are the things that you did to grow your audience? What are the things that you did to grow your leads? What are the things that you did to grow your customer and client base? What are the things that you did to improve the fulfillment experience, to increase lifetime customer value? Now these are some of the things that I ask the accelerators is, you know, how many leads came through? Where did they come from? Is this source still a viable source? How much did you spend in ad spend or hourly spend? Now this is an unpopular opinion, but I'll tell you, it is a hang of a lot cheaper to use ads sometimes than it is to use your hourly person power. But that's for a different day. What was your average cost per lead? What was the number of emails that you sent? Would you send more? Why wouldn't you send more? How many presentations of offers did you did? How many showed how many clients? What was your earnings per show? What was your earnings per acquisition? Then when you're in fulfillment, how many new clients? How many published testimonials? What was the success ratio which you can measure by your new clients divided by your testimonials that were gotten? What was your percent of client that went up into your ascension model? So like for us we use low ticket leads, so we build an email of customers. Now this doesn't mean, by the way, that I only serve people who buy from me. I have almost 400 hours of content on my podcast. On my social, I'm posting one to three times a day. I also have free trainings and workshops that I pour into my people. For me, free. I just need people to be activated. And I have found that people who say yes to themselves have something on the line. And it's not for us to decide what's expensive. Expensive compared to what? So if you're on my email list because you came through a free training and you're opening up my emails, you're engaging like that's, that's an exchange. But if you're on my list and you're not opening up my emails and you're just sitting there and I'm just sitting there taking up real estate in your inbox, but there's no exchange, we stop emailing. Okay, so I want you to think about that. What is the total revenue? So what is the percentage of client that go into your, you know, how many customers come into clients? What was the total revenue cost for the fulfillment department? Okay, so what does that mean? That means how many coaches do you have? How many admin people do you have? How many. How many people are in the process of the fulfillment experience? Moving them into, you know, how are they helping with the fulfillment to improve success, and then moving clients up. The ascension model. Okay, so I want you to look at that total revenue, generating total return on the department. And then what is the lifetime customer value? Now? How do you know? Well, you just take the total revenue divided by the total number of customers, and that usually gives you a percentage of lifetime customer value. And then in terms of. Of. Of. Now, the other things that you can look at in the fulfillment side is, let's also look at the operations. Okay, I probably should have put that into. I should have put that earlier into, you know, collecting data. But take a look at the operations. What are your total number of team members? What is the earnings per team? Your total expenses, and include your salary. What was your total profit margin? I want my accelerator clients to live in a 58% profit margin. Now, I'm gonna not lie to you that a lot of, like, brick and mortars, they operate at a 25% profit margin. And that's fine. That's fine, too. But that's because they have a lot. It costs the business more to have a brick and mortar, so it's natural the profit margin would not be 58%. It's just, frankly not as expensive to run an online business. Then I want you to think about your labor cost. What was the total labor cost? And then the total revenue. And we want to have a 4 to 5x return on that. And if we're not, we need to look at it. We need to either look at. We need to look at our team, and we need to look at the efficiency of the team. Do we need to improve performance? Do we need to add more to the plate? How can we have a return? Now, a lot of times I have felt, I'm gonna just share this for myself. There are people on my team that are not a direct reflection of generating revenue. So, for example, I have part of the sales team, but I also people that help me in fulfillment, and I have people that help me. You know, I have admin assistant who helps me do a lot of the tech stuff. And while he's not on the phone, you know, dialing, you know, generating revenue, he's absolutely so important because he's freed up my time so that I can have a sales conversation for that hour instead of messing with my landing page, instead of me doing it, because time is a finite resource, time you cannot get back is infinitely more valuable than revenue. Revenue, money you could always find. So now, once we get present to that, we have to notice how we feel about where. How do we feel about what happened? Because if there's any pain here, you remember back to what I said, Any pain here, there's some sort of meaning story that we have connected that to, and we have separated fact from what happened to, you know, what we've made that mean. Because usually that feeling, and that's a frequency that, that fuels that thought and that feeling. It's that thought, feeling loop, right? And so we need to know, how do you feel and where do you feel this in the body? Okay. And sometimes it can be really hard to get present to what actually is happening. So here are some of the questions that I'll ask the accelerators is where did you mess up this year? This quarter? Who kept you from growing this year? And what kept you from growing this year? Quarter. And then some other things that I want to prompt you to think about, to journal on is I'm frustrated or I'm bitter because. And then just really notice what is coming up. Where are you feeling this in all of the body? And just write it all down. Because before we can start to release it, to rewire it. Now, people who have been in the personal development space, we've heard things like, you were the thinker of your thoughts. Just change the thought. And if we don't do this step that I'm talking about right now, which is alchemize the emotional feeling, then it doesn't matter. Then it's like trying to put Febreze on trash. You cannot. You know, this is not like relentless positivity, or some people call this toxic positivity. We're not pretending that that emotion doesn't exist and then pushing it down, which I think a lot of people, that this happens in the world, especially when they're new to personal development. No, no, no. We're going to notice it, we're going to experience it, we're going to acknowledge it and then alchemize it. We have, have to. Okay? Because your perception is your reality and it'll just keep playing like an operating system in the background. Okay, so, you know, how do we do that? Well, we have to differentiate between what are the facts and then what are the meanings. Facts are 100% irrefutable. You cannot, like, I am sitting in this yellow chair right now recording this, this podcast that you cannot pretend that that doesn't exist. It is true. But usually we start to see, oh, but that means, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, whatever that means. Okay, so then you alchemize it. Now, things that I'm going to carry the accelerators through is the, you know, tapping. You can count, you can meditate. We can, we can, you know, really just neutralize that emotional experience. And then I. What I want you to do when you start to calm down is extract the lessons. What are the lessons that you learned from those things that happened? Then we thank it and release it. That's it. Okay? Now we're not done. We're not done with 2024. Now we have to look for the wins. Please don't make this mistake. This is a mistake that I make and have made. I no longer do that anymore. But we think that we only need to do that for the things that didn't go well. But you need to do it for the things that did go well. Because what I notice a lot from myself and from my clients is that we often throw the baby out with the bathwater and think, oh, this isn't working, and then toss it out. But then when we go back and look at it, we're like, oh, wow, that was working. But we think it wasn't working for whatever reason, usually because of some meaning or expectation. That's uncommunicated. Okay? And so I want you to be thinking about, what is it that wins? What are the wins? Celebrate the wins. So ask yourself, where did I excel this year? Who helped me this year? What helped me this year? And look at all of that and ask yourself, like, why did this happen? And now this can be really hard. It's part of why success can be a crappy teacher, because so many people have accidental success, then they can't. They don't really know why, and then they can't do it again. So we need to anchor that in the body. We need to keep saying yes. And. And then we start showing our brain by evidence stacking that this is working, this fuels that new thought. This helps be part of what rewires the brain. Okay? And then we can go into. Now that we've kind of. Then bless and release it. Bless and release it. And then we go into casting and setting our intention. Okay? Where we actually operate from a place of it is already done. And. And part of what you. Here's a question, which is, what does the hundred K per month version of you know now? What does the hundred K per month version of you that already exists at the end of 20, 25 or whatever year it is that you're doing it, know that you can know now. Then when you're setting that intention and you're like, this is what I'm going to do. I want you to operate from the place of it is already done, and really just experience it, see it, hear it, feel it, what does it touch, what does it sound, what does it feel like, sound like, see? And really just anchor that in as it is, as if it is already done. And when we cast that future, then we go into the execution, the inspired action of what it takes to get there. Because this isn't like, oh, let's set a goal and let's. Let's, you know, it's going to come right. This is not like, oh, let me set it be like what a lot of people do, which is they go to the, you know, they set these goals not anchored in their body from the identity of who they already are, as if it is already done. And that's why so many people have a hard time staying consistent. So we need to anchor this new vision from a place of knowing that it's already done. And it's so much easier to say than it is to do. So we go through these exercises, okay, and then we execute the plan. And then as we execute and then are we build out the plan in terms of, you know, this is where we reverse engineer it. Now a lot of people who are in the personal development space, or feminine energy, whatever it is, they're like, no, we're not going to do. You know, you don't need to. You just need to. It needs to feel aligned, it needs to flow. And that's just. I'm way more strategic. For me, I'm like, no, no, no. Now that we've neutralized this emotional experience, now we need to execute. We need to do it from a reverse engineer. This is the numbers don't lie. Business is numbers. So we need to look at it as part of what we looked at at the beginning. And now we need to look at like, okay, so this is what needs to be done. And then we operate from a place of integrity, meaning I do what it is that I say that I'm gonna do. Commitment and responsibility. And then when you start to execute, get into the world, what happens is, you know, it's kind of like playing a guitar. You're playing a guitar, it goes out of tune. And then you need to keep tuning it up. And so even if you've done this before and you're like, me, you're like, ah, I don't need to do that. I've already done this before. It's not true. You need every guitar needs to be tuned. You've been out in the world, go tune it. And that's only going to exponentially grow your business. Whatever year I'm recording this at the end of 2024, going into 2025. And so if you're, it doesn't matter what year it is that you hear it, you could do this process at any time, anytime you need to get present, release the emotional charge, extract all the lessons, set a new intention, and then keep doing the process over and over until you get what it is that you want.
