Hi, I'm Beverly Simpson, former fitness manager turned online personal training business owner. And this podcast is where smart fitness professionals, including trainers and clinicians, discover how to increase client performance in movement, package and position their products and services, and get out of their own way so that they can increase their revenue to live a life that they love without sleazy sales. Welcome to the PT Profit Podcast.
What's up, coach? Thank you so much for pushing play on another episode of the PT Profit Podcast. I'm your host, Beverly Simpson, and today we're doing a very special episode. I am currently live inside of my free Facebook group, Online Marketing for Fitness Professionals. So if you are catching the replay of this or you're listening to this podcast and you participated in the group, hi, I'm so glad you're here. Listen. Repetition is the mother of all learning. And if you are actually hopping on now and catching me live, please feel free to put your questions inside of the comments because this, in this group is where we go deeper and where we get to answer any and all of the questions that come up. So, so this episode is particularly inspired by one of my PT Profit clients and we were talking about how to step into the energy of already being into that place of a hundred k months. If, you know, stepping in and already believing, already knowing a hundred, you know, who would you be if you were already making 100k months? And so now if you are new to the personal development space or new to the, the business development space, you might, you may be new to this concept. So the concept is, is comes from the idea of all of, of making decisions and knowing that you, that your success is inevitable and that you are deciding and being the person who is already at 100k months. And so when and when you do this, what happens is that you are signaling to the universe essentially that, that and calling in and boomeranging and bringing to you all of the desires of your heart. And so some people will talk about manifestation. And the truth is I have actually stayed away from that word for a lot of specific reasons.
Right?
So number one, the specific reason has been that I think that it is very. A confusing concept in terms, you know, people's beliefs in terms of like, is this possible if, you know, is this possible for me, if like does this, is this resonating with me, is this to New age. What about, you know, my religion or whatever it is. And so I am not an expert in, in that subject. So I really just leave that to other people to do it. And then also to, I like to speak to the fact that when you go down this path, what often happens is that people will think that their goals are already on the of them, that they need to chase this experience, that they need to manifest it. And honestly, that's just not, that's not my vibe. That is not what I teach and that's not what I stand for. And I think that it's more about operating and knowing that your success is inevitable and continuing to making the decisions in a safe way from a place of knowing that it is already done. So here's how I explain, explain that and here's what I mean, right? And I talked about this a little bit on my Instagram story today when I was talking about the fitness journey. And so as fitness professionals, I want you to think back to the first time you learned how to do a push up. And if I as your coach said to you, hey, do 10 push ups, think about. And if that's so far removed from you, you're like, oh my gosh, I was 10. Then I want you to think about a time when you were with your client for the first time and your client was learning how to, your client was learning how to do, to do a push up for the first time. And you said, okay, give me 10. And then think about how much time it took to execute 10 pushups versus when you become unconsciously competent. And when your client became unconsciously competent, the time that it took for them to execute on it just was completely condensed. Right. And the good news for us as business owners and as professionals is that it's actually not a matter of time that we need to, to take in order to acquire the skill that's necessary to execute the rep. And we don't need the recovery time and we don't need the, the, the muscle growth and the strength building that happens in order to become unconsciously competent in performance in terms of physical fitness. But for, for our business professionals, we can condense that time and just continuously do the reps. So that's the good news. It's not about the amount of time, it's about the number of reps and truly how fast you can go from feeling like this isn't, this is impossible for me and move through all of those resistance feelings and just letting, and taking inspired action and letting the chips fall. So that's Ultimately, what we're talking about when I'm talking about how to step into those 100k months. And, and it's not. It's a little bit different in terms of fitness, because in fitness, you need the strength, you need to acquire the skill, and you need to, you need to, you need more time to build those reps. But luckily for us, we don't. We can do them as fast. We can take the reps as fast as we want to take it, whatever that pace is that we get to set. And ultimately there is no right way. There is no, I have to do it this one way. We get to decide what is going to work best for us, which is what I teach, which is what I stand for, and which is what we're talking about and what I mean when I say, let's step into. I already am making 100k. So that's kind of the first thing that I wanted to just kind of address when I'm talking about, like, who would you be if you were already doing that, if you were already making 100k month? And so one of the things that I had challenged my PT profit formula clients to consider, to think about, which is what I also said in my story today. I'm recording this on Friday. So if you're, if you're listening to the podcast, what I said in my story was, you know, if you're anything like me and you felt like. And you've had these moments of like, okay, I get it, I get the concept, but I. If I already knew how to do it, then I would just do it.
Right.
Or maybe you even felt like, I am doing all the right things. I'm. I am, I am being the person. This is who I would be.
Right.
So I get that, because that's exactly how I used to feel. Exactly. And then I started really looking back at my journey. So I'm going to offer you these tangible steps to really help you conceptualize and actually take the actions to step into that, into the 100k months person.
Right.
Which is that I want you to think about, number one, is look at your day mapped out for today, for tomorrow, for Monday, for whatever it is that you have mapped out. I want you to look at it and I want you to ask yourself, are these the activities that I would be doing if I Was already making 100k per month? What does that look like and what does that mean? Because the truth is that the majority of people, they are stuck doing activities inside of their business that aren't actually Moving the dial to generating revenue, right? And sometimes it can be really hard to discern the difference between is this resistance, Am I moving the dial forward? Is this a revenue generating task? So here's how I do it, right? Is that I get really present to asking to knowing and getting clarity on well, what is going to bring in revenue. And for me and inside of my business, it's about knowing your messaging, sharing your messaging, and presenting opportunities for people to go deeper, to take the next step, to say yes to themselves and, and get committed to themselves, right? So those are the three things that I'm really looking at and I'm asking myself, is, am I doing that one of those three things? Am I doing one of those three things? Getting clear, knowing what my message is and sharing it with as many people as possible and inviting people to take the next step. Step, okay. And so sometimes that will require doing tasks that might not necessarily be the most fun. Nobody people, people become trainers or health coaches or nutritionists or physical therapists to help people move better. And sometimes they don't want to do the, the, the unfun stuff of, of, I don't know, admin, stop or maybe even program design or something that is just needs to get done but isn't necessarily, isn't necessarily specific to, to moving the dial. Or it might not feel like it, but it needs to get done. So what I am checking in with and, and when I'm assessing is this, is, is this a revenue generating activity or not? What I am asking myself is, is this something that actually needs to get done? Can I delegate it? Can I automate it or does it need to? Okay, so I'm asking myself those things. I'm also asking myself, okay, I can't delegate it yet, but it does need to get done. So then I'm going to ask myself, well, how can I reduce the time it takes to do it? So get present to how much time is it taking you to edit a video? How much time is it taking you to actually write out the message and put it out?
Right?
And if it's taking you more time than you necessarily want to to dedicate to that task, this is, this is the difference. This is what I mean when I'm talking about speed is if it's taking you three hours to craft a post, can what would it look like if you could condense it into 45 minutes or 10 minutes or 5 minutes. And then if you're like Beverly, I can't do a post in five minutes. Great. Now the game, the Fun becomes how many reps would it take? This almost reminds me of that Tootsie Pop song, right? But how many reps would it take for you to acquire the skill to become and to make that skill automated and make you unconsciously competent? So that's really what I'm looking at when I'm looking at the tasks that I've laid out for my day. And honestly, the people who are super successful, what they have been able to do is delegate, automate, or delete it. And if they can't delegate it, because maybe you're at that stage, sticking point, right? Every bit. Every phase of business is going to have growth and you're going to reach. Every next level is going to reach a sticking point of, of you allocating resources, whether it's either whether it's time or whether it's, you know, whether it's time or whether it's money. And so you get to ask yourself, oh, my gosh, okay, I'm at a threshold of time, and I need to increase the profit margin. So how best am I going to do that? Well, that's where we start working on lever, and that's when we start looking at things that we're looking at right now, which is how can we maximize our return on the effort and the time that is spent. And in case you're curious, time is infinitely more valuable than money because time, you can't get back. Money is available and money is. Especially as a creator, as an entrepreneur, hopefully you're excited by the opportunity out there to increase your profit margin and how many more people you are going to help with more resources available to you, both time and money. So that's really ultimately what I'm looking at when I'm looking at these tasks. And then the second component to that, that I want you to ask yourself, when it comes to how am I, am I doing tasks that are moving the dial and then assessing whether or not what can be delegated, automated, and deleted, and then assess whether or not you can reduce the amount of time that is spent on it. And then I'm also wanting to ask you, because this is something also that comes up a lot, and I want you to be really present to it, is, are you throwing money at a problem?
Right.
Because when we start going down this path and thinking about, okay, well, Beverly told me to delegate it, so I just really hate Facebook ads and I just can't do it. I can't figure it out. I'm going to pay someone to do it.
Right.
I get that. I Get that mentality. I get that, you know, it could be so much easier, let me just hire an agency to figure this all out for me and to craft my messaging based on what I say. And I've honestly also gone down that path of trying to do it for people in the hopes that I would expedite a result, that I would help them learn the, that I would help them learn the lesson for them. But that honestly just robs you. It robs you of an experience and it you of, of learning how to become a more effective communicator and share your message. One of my favorite copywriters that I love to work with and I brought her into my group containers to teach, she works with many of my accelerator clients. Is, is that what makes her so effective as a copywriter is that the own, the business owner knows their message and can communicate the message, but what oftentimes happens is that people try to throw money like, oh well, I'll just get the copywriter to do it, or I'll just get a Facebook ads manager to do it. And then they end up getting into this habit of throwing money at a problem and, and then not getting a huge massive ROI on it because they haven't actually addressed and figured out the root cause of the problem.
Right.
Which is knowing what your messaging is and sharing it and getting it out there. And so I was just talking to a friend of mine earlier, you know, because I was talking about this inside of my story and she was saying, well, you know, how do you decide when you can delegate? Like, is delegating throwing money at a problem or not?
Right.
So here's how I discern it and I'll offer this to you as well, is that for me, is that I'm looking at the delegation to basically enhance the revenue generating experience. So for example, I am responsible for the messaging. I am responsible for crafting the plan and the strategy for how we are going to share the messaging. But my content manager, the person who comes and does all my podcasts and helps me put together the pieces to help me amplify the message, that person is not necessarily crafting isn't Ness isn't responsible for creating the messaging. They're taking what is already there, what already exists, what I've already created and putting it into different places. So it's more about adding more horsepower, not, not reinventing a new horse. It's just about amplifying the messaging. Okay. And so if you're like, yeah, but Beverly, I can't hire a team yet. Listen, I get it. You will, you, you will be able to. And then eventually, as you grow, as you step into that 100k month person and you start amplifying the messaging and getting it out even louder, you'll start pulling in the people that are going to be part of your team that will know your using messaging as well and then be able to also craft and share the, share the message.
Right?
So it's just, it just becomes a, the compounding effect of doing the reps. And so it's something important too, that I also want to share. And I'll do another podcast on this because I've got another coaching call in just a few minutes. But one of the things that you get to also consider and you, it's important to evaluate is really being able to discern the difference between what is out of alignment and what is just resistance. Because like I alluded to earlier in the, in the podcast or earlier in the show is that you are going to have times and activities where you are just not. It's not going to be the most fun. Sometimes it's not the most fun to edit a video and sometimes it's not the most fun to. I don't know, I can't think of something off the top of my head. But there's, you know, sometimes there's activities that you don't love to enjoy. Like, for example, maybe you don't love to be on Facebook, but your clients do. Maybe you don't love to be on, on Instagram, but your clients do.
Right?
So, so there's going to be, I mean, listen, I don't always love doing bedtime with my kids, let me tell you. But there's still activities that need to get done. Just kind of like when you go to the gym and you just don't really feel like waking up. You have a, or you don't really feel like working out, but you have, you have some resistance to doing it. But once you do it and you move through the resistance and you stay disciplined, then it's easy. But then there's going to be time and then you get going and you can work through it and you move through it. You get into the flow, right? Then there are times where you are, you know, have the flu and it doesn't make sense and it's not good and you need to give yourself grace and not do it. That's working out, out of alignment, that is. At all costs, right? You have to find what and get really honest with yourself about what is resistance and what is you Being out of discipline versus you being out of alignment. Because usually when you make decisions from resistance, then you try. That's when you try to throw money at a problem as opposed to just working through it and knowing that your success is inevitable and looking at your tasks every single day and saying, oh, I am 100k a month earner. I'm responsible for the message. I will craft my message. I'm responsible for connecting and having conversations with people that I'm excited to connect to work with. I am responsible for sharing the invitation to join my world. And here's the good part is that it doesn't have to be like a million different things. It can literally just be three things. So food for thought. And so that is what I'm going to offer to you in terms of how you step into 100k months and already being the business owner that, that, that is earning 100k months, 50k months, 30k months, 10k months. Whatever it is, whatever your goal is and it has nothing to do with, with and it completely, I'm going to just say that it completely fits in terms of whatever your, your, your, your deep beliefs are. It's not about, it's not about that. It's not about being right or wrong or, or, or out of alignment in that, in that way. It really just ul you deciding that these are the actions that I'm going to take. This is what I know is going to become unconsciously easy and then operating from that space of what if it already is, it already is easy. And it can be as easy as, as thinking, thought and feeling that feeling and, and continuing to go from there.
Right.
And I just also want to offer to you too as I close out this episode now is that, is that even people who are millionaires and even people who are multiple six figure earners, whatever, whatever that, whatever that is.
Right?
It, whatever that goal is and whatever that goal is for you personally, it really, it really has. They. They're still faced with the same challenges that you are faced with at whatever level. They people have torn, you know, torn businesses down and then re. And redid it and started over from scratch over and over and over and over again because that's just simply who they are as human beings. And the other thing too that I'll. I'm talking about this forever. But the other thing too that I just want to remind you is that what is put into your heart is safe guidance is, is you can trust it 100%. And why do I know this is because I look out into the world. And I think, wow, I have some really good, incredible author friends. I have an incredible parenting coach. And I have, I have, I get to work with really the top 1% of humans. And they are just exceptional. And there are things that they do that they're called to do that I have zero interested in doing. I will never be a parenting coach. I will never be an author. It doesn't matter how tricky or whatever their languages are. That is just not in the desire of my heart. That does not light me up, that does not excite me. Know that that's not for me, which is such a good thing. It's a gift. I hope that that will help you recognize and see that what is your calling, what is what you're wanting to do. Can you can trust it and trust it 100% and go all in on that. And that will help you be make decisions from a place that is, that is sound.
Right?
And I'll also last, last, last thing. I know I've said that like three times, but the last, last thing is that not at the exception of safety.
Right.
I think too, when you're new and for me, it was like this for me, when I was new in this development, personal development world and going all in on myself, I used to think that it had to mean that I had to make decisions that were necessarily, you know, at the risk, at safety risks. So what, what would I consider a safety risk? Well, my kids coming out of school or my, you know, causing stress on, like, am I going to be able to pay the mortgage? Kind of stress.
Right.
So I just, I don't want, I want to encourage you to, to know what, what, what being responsible is and that you are and then owning that responsibility and then not like trying to put your head in the sand about it, which is, hey, if that's you, that's the only reason I say that is because that was me. And so now I'm. That's why I created this podcast is so is to offer you some things that you can do that might not, that aren't going to be at the cost of your safety. So things like, well, what are the tasks that 100k a business owner would do? What. How fast do I think it would take them to share their message? How fast do you think it would take them to, you know, to delegate this task or to share this, this or delete this task? It doesn't even matter. And then getting really present to like, am I. Is this a task that honestly, really, legitimately needs to get done. Okay, so with that said, I'm hopping on a call and if you are live with me in the Facebook group, please go ahead and share your questions.
