Welcome to the PT Profit Podcast.
What's up, coach? Thank you so much for pushing play on another episode of the PT Profit Podcast. I'm your host, Beverly Simpson. And if this is the first time you're hanging out with me today, welcome. I'm super pumped that you're here. Today we're diving into lesson number five of this miniseries that we've been doing week over week, all about the real talk behind the scenes of what's happening at B. Simpson Fitness. Inside of this personal episode, I've really been sharing and opening up some of the context of why I know these lessons learned both from what I'm doing in my own business and from the mentors that I'm learning from, as well as giving you behind the scenes looks from coaching experiences. And so we've already gone through lessons 10, 9, 8, 7, 6. And today we're talking about lesson number five, skill. Skill acquisition. And there is a lot to unpack here in this little, this, this tiny little topic, which seems like a tiny little topic, like, okay, yeah, I need to, just to get my skills. Double tap. Okay, so here is the truth of the matter, right? You could sit down with a client right now and say, hey, this here's how you lose £100. And you probably can unpack everything that needs to happen down from who they need to be, what they need to do and. And what they will have in probably 30 to 60 minutes of time. But that does not mean it's going to take 60 minutes of time in order to lose £100. So that conversation is typically an example of the tip of the iceberg, when in reality, you and I both know there is going to be a whole lot of happenings and context that need to be shifted and context that need to be, to be talked about in order to actually achieve said goal. And so think of it like this, right? The strategy that gets laid out to go from NYC to LA in a car, they're going to tell you the directions but it's not going to be able to give you a real time experience of what the traffic's going to be like of are there any accidents, are there any construction modules that are, or construction experiences that are going to be blocked off? Because you're not going to be able to know that until you're at actually on the road. Sure you can prepare for it based on the contexts of experience of taking that road before at any given times or whatever. Or maybe someone has that context and experience and can offer you insight. But the truth is that you're not really going to know that until you get into the car and you start to drive. The same is true when you're going on a health journey. The same is true when you are going on a business building journey. And I can sit here and say to you and share, to share with you. This is how you start to generate 10k months. This is how you do a hundred k a month. This is how you do a million a month. I could say that to you now it's interesting because it becomes a numbers game. And the truth is that what you are going to experience at a hundred K per month and a million a month, they're going to be different. You're going to have different challenges and there's going to be different layers and levels of, of experience of what, of what's going to happen when you get there. And now I can't really speak to those types of, of contexts because I can't speak to what it's going to be like in terms of, for me because I've never done that. The closest I've done is 80k in a month. And so I feel pretty confident that this, the strategy and the, and the execution and the SK that I am currently at, it's going to lead me to those hundred K months. I can see it, it's pretty realistic and close to me and that what it's going to take for me to go from 80k months, 40 to 80k months to 100k months is barely, not that big of a leap. But 100k to 1 million. I can only speculate and learn from my, my mentors who have done there and been that been there. So I can share with you what I needed. And, and I am also fairly confident based on what I've heard and what I've learned is that oftentimes the difference is going to be in a, in a skill, in needing a skill, whether it is, is communication team hiring. Whether it's. Whereas communication in communicating your offer to the right person at the right time, whether it's going to be communicating how to increase the volume that's needed to grow the business. Because once you know what the numbers are, once you're pretty solid on the, on the actual offer that you're settling into, it really just becomes a numbers game and getting clear on what those numbers are. And so for me, in order to make a million dollars a month, I, we need to enroll 100 clients. And then you have to start asking yourself, okay, I think it's like 100. Don't quote me on that. My math might be off, but I'm just, you know, speaking off the cuff. So the question then becomes, is my back end set up to take on 100 clients? It's not right now. I'll tell you right now. Could I take on 100 clients this month? No, I couldn't. Can I take 10? Yeah, set up for that. Could I take 20? Yes, I'm set up for that. And then the game becomes, well, how many people need to hear. What is the volume of people that need to hear that offer? Well, I need 40 or 60. If I do 60 calls this month, then I potentially can bring in those 20 clients. 10, 20 clients. So then you have to ask yourself, as you're starting to get up into these numbers and you start asking yourself, well, If I did 60 calls this month and I close that many people, and you know, what is that going to cost me? What is the investment required to get me those calls and those conversations? Is it going to be an investment of time, or is it going to be an investment in money? Is it going to be an investment of both? And then what are the resources available to me? Energy, effort and money and time to execute, and do I have this skill? Because if, if I, if, if you and I are listen or executing the same plan, we're not going to have the same level of skill to communicate the right offer to the right person at the right time. You might be better at some, at one of those aspects than me, but not all of it. It requires everything to be firing off on all cylinders, to get cooking and to stay cooking. And that requires skill. Skill not just in the strategy, but skill in the actual implementation of the strategy. A toddler learning to walk doesn't run a marathon the next day after the first time they took a step. In fact, if you've ever watched a child learn how to walk, they fall down so frequently before they actually get up. But now if you are, you know, have the ability, then you, you probably don't even think in the morning, oh, man, I need to take my first step today. You just do it. You become unconsciously competent. But when you were learning the skill, you fell down way more than you actually walked. And what's interesting to me is that most people, when they fall down to, they sit there and they stay there and they spend time in that valley of despair, and they focus on the fact that they fell down and they're constantly like, I can't believe I fell down. I fell down, I fell down. When children, if you look at how they, they learn the skill, they just keep getting up, they keep getting up, they keep getting up. I mean, it's so funny. My daughter the other day, she's like, got an open bleeding wound and she's like, I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine. And I'm like, no, no, no, we need to take care of that. She was like, no, no, I'm fine. Now if entrepreneurs, coaches, if business builders could actually operate their business from this place of like, oh, I know what I'm doing, or oh, I fell down, I'll just keep, I'll just get back up. And they went, did that faster in the same way a kid learns how to walk, then we would all be living our best lives. But the trouble is that most people will sit and, and recognize and realize and spend their time in the valley of despair and spend their time focusing on the fact that they fell down instead of, what is the lesson that I need here and how can I learn it faster so that I can keep getting back up and keep acquiring the skill? Okay? And then it's not fair to say, and I have to address this when we're talking about, about skill because. Because what we have to also understand, okay, is that, is that not every single person is starting from the same place, from the same point A. Everyone is going to be starting at different levels based on their context, based on their accessibility, based on their, their, you know, what's available to them. Like, there's so many different reasons as to why someone isn't starting at the same point A. So we have to say that, recognizing that and acknowledge that. And while it's not fair, and while we can't, we can't change it right now, the only way we're going to be able to elicit the change is to accept it and then change it and then, and then not in addition to everyone having different Context and different experience, different point A's when it comes to skill. You're also, everyone is also dealing with different levels of skill, skill ability, skill acquisition, ability. Just some people learn faster than others and some people are slower, need a slower pace. Regardless of where you fall on that spectrum, both in their levels of accessibility and access to where you started, as well as how fast or slow it takes for you to acquire that skill, everyone has the opportunity to look for the ways that they can be resourceful, look for the ways that they can accept the circumstances to alchemize and then change it. Not to accept and lay down and say, this is it. This is what this means for me. I guess that like life's just happening to me and I can't do anything about it. No, no, no, you sit down and you, you acknowledge that this is a fact, that this is true, and then you alchemize it, make it part of, make it, accept it, and then say, this is okay, this is. I get it. I can love this part of me. And I choose to change it. I choose to put myself in the rooms, in the spaces that are going to help me move the business forward, help me acquire the skill necessary. And that is going to require you to look at fear, because fear is never going away. You have to look at fear and you have to ask yourself and you have to acknowledge it and you have to act or integrate it and make decisions with courage. And you cannot be courageous or have courage with the absence of fear. So people get this wrong and they're like, I'm just going to be fearless. No, that's not, that's not what we're doing. Can't be courageous without fear. And so in order for you to acquire skill, you're going to need to recognize where you're at and then, and then under, and then accept it, and then continue to make decisions outside of your comfort zone because that's where the growth is going to happen. It. And so for your action item, your action step for today in this mini miniseries is to ask yourself, what is this? And the other thing about skill is that you could continuously grow and develop it. And so ask yourself, what are the skills required that I am not seeing, that I need to practice, or maybe that it is your that you are seeing. And if you need help, go reach out to your mentor, go get support, go get the insight that you need to help you identify what the skill is that potentially needs work. And it's gonna show up in the data. You'll see it in the data. So great job on this episode today. If you have any questions or you need help, I love to hear from you.
