Good morning, everybody. I'm going to show you how I spend my day. In this video, you'll learn natural English expressions, new vocabulary, and while you watch, maybe you can try shadowing me to practice your pronunciation and improve your speaking. I slept in today and had kind of a slow morning. But I checked the weather and it looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day. So I'm going to finish up my coffee and head to the Han River for a picnic. Let's go! I just checked the route and I can either hop on a bus right in front of my house, but then I have to transfer, or I can walk a little bit further and there's a direct bus that will take me straight to the Han. I hate transferring, so we're walking and we're going to take the direct bus. I just got to the bus stop and am waiting for my bus to arrive. I checked the screen and it should arrive in about 3 minutes. The bus is pulling up right now. We're only on the bus for 8 stops, so it's a pretty quick ride. Where's the oh shit handle here? I'm going to hit the stop button because I'm getting off at the next stop. I love coming to the Han River. It's one of my favorite summer activities. This time I didn't bring my own mat with me, so we're trying to find somewhere to rent one. As I'm looking for the rental place, I'm also scoping out some places where we can set up. Wow, they're so nice. The lady working here gave us a Popsicle for free. I'm ready. I love how convenient it is being able to rent everything on the spot. They put a tent, a light, some games, everything we could possibly need in this wagon. Now we just have to find a spot to set it up. We found the perfect spot under a tree so we have a little bit of shade and look at this view. We have the perfect view of Namsan Tower. It's stunning. First things first, let's pitch the tent. That was the easiest tent I've ever had to set up. Done! When I first came to Korea and went to the Han River, I was so shocked when I saw so many people hanging out in tents. In the US, when you're going on a picnic, you don't really use a tent. We really only use tents for camping. They also gave us a nice picnic mat, so I'm going to spread it out on the ground in front of the tent. I'm gonna zip this up because I don't want bugs to get inside. We've got a small table, a cute moonlight for when it gets dark out, a fan, Let's test this out. Remember my Beyoncé scene? Who run the world, girls? Here's the final setup, but first I'm gonna hit up the ramen machines at the CU because I'm getting a bit hungry. We need kimchi, of course. Gamsahamnida. I love the ramen machines at the Han River. It's so cool that you can make ramen yourself here. I already put the noodles in the bowl. Now I'm adding the dehydrated vegetables or the dried vegetables and the powder. I'm a classic Shin Ramen girl. I think this is ready to go. Tteokbokki, Jin Ramyun. Wow, that's crazy. It's so cool that they have a button for each kind of ramen that you buy. There we go. And I read that you have to crack the egg and put it in when there's 1 minute left. I like to stir it a little bit to mix it up while it boils. It's time to add the egg in. I'm cracking the egg. And adding it to the bowl. Gotta have some protein. I'm just going to sprinkle a bit of the cheese on top.
Shoop!
I'm excited! First bite. The cheese got a little bit clumpy, but I need to take my first bite with some kimchi, of course. All right. Mm, shin ramen at the Han River hits every time. So good. I even slurped my noodles. I have to put my sunglasses back on. I'm so glad I brought these because it is so sunny today. I keep squinting. Much better. I'm watching all the joggers go past me as I eat my ramen. You can do it! Keep it up! I'm actually editing at the Han River. Oh, is this the fat-free? Milk? I wanted fat-free milk. Can you go back? Just kidding. I've got some banana milk to make a latte. Ooh, that's so satisfying. Iced coffee lovers know the feeling. Feels good. I was so sweaty, dying in this heat. I got a boost of energy after drinking this coffee, so we're going to rent some bikes. Okay.
Stop.
Stop. Okay. We rented the dorky family bike. It's fun though. How often do you get to ride this kind of bike? Plus, it's fully in the shade. I love it.
Are you pedaling?
Yes, I'm like the Wicked Witch of the West. We need Toto in front here. Oh my gosh, there's some actual cyclists on this path here flying by us.
Two hands on the wheel or something.
Oh, it's okay, I'm experienced. Wait, what's happening? That's kind of scary. Woo! This is the party bike. I'm burning from nap and to the moon. Fire away, fire away. That was fun. The family bike is where it's at. The view of Namsan Tower is so good here. I have to take a selfie even though I'm a little sweaty after that bike ride. Excuse me, can you help me take a photo? How should I pose? Maybe one more time with a different angle, please. I want a good background. Can you make sure Namsan is in the background? Is this my good side? You're supposed to say every side is your good side. Every side is your good side. Give me that phone. You need a little bit more training, but it'll do for now. It'll do. The place that we rented the picnic set from had Rummikub, so we're gonna play a game now. It's usually kind of a long game, but I'm confident that I can finish it very quickly today. The loser buys chicken for dinner. Um, I said the winner buys chicken, right? Roll the tapes back.
The loser buys chicken.
Dang, beginner's luck. I love how in Korea you can even get food delivered to you at the park. It's incredible. We ordered some chicken and bought some beer at the convenience store so we can enjoy some chimac, a picnic classic here. I got Callie, obviously, and a classic Cass. We're going to crack these open and pregame dinner a little bit as we wait for the sun to set. I think it's going to be a beautiful sunset tonight because it's a very clear sky. There's no clouds in the sky.
Cheers!
Perfect way to end the day. Gamsahamnida! The sun is starting to set. It's so beautiful, and I love seeing everybody outside enjoying themselves. It's huge. Takgangjang, my favorite. I prefer wingless bones. Wingless bones. Boneless wings. Woohoo! Wingless bones. Bones, that's so funny. Boneless wings. Oh, that looks so good. Looks delicious. I'll take my first bite. This is soy garlic.
Mmm.
Dakgangjeong was the first kind of Korean fried chicken I ever tried, and now I'm hooked. This is like a sweet chili. Mmm. Also delicious. I prefer the soy garlic one. I like savory more than sweet usually. Mmm. But both are amazing. I can see why this restaurant had a 5-star rating and like 3,500 reviews. That speaks for itself. The rice cakes are yummy too. Mmm, so good, so good. We got a complimentary cheese ball. Let's see if there's a cheese pull. Not at all. I think the cheese hardened a bit when he was driving over here. Tastes fine though, but I like when the cheese is really melted and gooey. The sunset is beautiful.
Wow.
This is the perfect place to watch the sunset. Look at how gorgeous it is tonight. I'm gonna start packing up while we wait for the fountain show. This looks a little complicated. I'm not gonna lie. Oh, oh, oh.
Ayy! See?
I'm an independent woman. I don't need a man. No way! Shove it in? No, no, no. Ah! Okay, kamsahamnida! That tent was so difficult to fold. I was right when I said I don't need a man. I need 2 men. Banpo is my favorite Han River Park because I love watching the fountain show on the bridge at night. It's getting a little bit darker now, so we shouldn't have to wait too much longer before we can enjoy the show. After the show, we're gonna pack up, return all of the items that we rented and head home. I'll probably go to sleep very early tonight because it was such a fun and exciting day. Thank you so much for watching and let me know in the comments below what your favorite activity at the Han River is. Check out the pinned comment below and if you want to take your English learning to the next level, check out my ebook. Bye! I'm currently doing one of the most viral health challenges in the world. I'm going to show you my routine while doing this challenge, and along the way you'll learn some new English vocabulary and expressions. This challenge is called 75 Hard, and there are 5 rules that I must follow for 75 days straight. That means there are no cheat days. Rule number 1, no drinking alcohol. Number 2, I must work out every single day, twice a day for 45 minutes each, and one of the workouts must be outside. Rule number 3: I must drink 1 gallon of water a day. Rule number 4: I must read 10 pages of nonfiction every single day. Rule number 5: Follow a diet of your choice. And finally, take a progress picture every single day. I skipped this part of the challenge. The reason why I'm doing this challenge is because I ate really bad in the US. I ate a ton of fast food and junk food, and I gained a lot of weight. I want to get in better shape and have more energy. Also, this challenge is known as a mental toughness challenge, so I want to push myself and see what I'm capable of. I think it'll be a good opportunity to build some healthy habits and get into better routines. Let me show you my routines throughout this challenge. Tomorrow we're starting 75 Hard, but tonight we're enjoying all of our favorite junk food. We got ice cream, fried chicken, got chapagetti. We're going all out tonight.
And from tomorrow?
No, 110% in.
We got this.
One rule of 75 Hard is that one of my 45-minute workouts must be outside, so I'm gonna head out for a walk. I always bring my headphones with me so I can listen to music or talk to my family on the phone. I make sure to put on my good walking shoes. I'm obsessed with my New Balance shoes. They are so comfortable, and even when I walk very long distances, my feet never hurt, and I never get blisters. I always double knot my laces because I hate when my shoe comes untied while I'm walking. Let's go! I really love being out in nature and getting some fresh air. I actually really enjoy this part of the challenge. I usually find a trail or a path to walk on near my house. The one bad thing about this part of the challenge is that you must work out outside no matter what the weather is. I had mostly good weather during this challenge, but a few days were really rainy and windy, and I still had to go outside and go for a walk. That was pretty rough. Walking may sound easy, but when you're getting a minimum of 10K steps every single day, it's still pretty exhausting. My step count has skyrocketed since starting this challenge. Sometimes instead of going for a walk, I'll go for a run. I usually run 5Ks and I always use my Nike Run app to track my runs. I try to pace myself so I don't run too fast or too slow. Leaving this guy in the dust. Bye! Keep up!
Keep up!
Wow!
I'm out of breath and my heart is pounding. But I can't give up. I gotta keep going. My second workout of the day also has to be 45 minutes long. I usually do an at-home workout because I don't really enjoy going to the gym, plus this is free and super convenient. I've been walking so much lately. My hips are tight and my legs are sore, so I need to loosen up my muscles. I grab my yoga mat and roll it out. I grab my laptop to choose a video because I like to follow YouTube videos. It's a bit easier than coming up with my own routine. Recently I found a mobility exercise video that I really enjoy and it feels so good. I'll make sure to share it with you guys. I like stretches that focus on my hips because my hips are so tight. I used to be very flexible, but these days I'm not at all. This stretch feels really good. I do it for about 30 seconds and then I switch sides. I can feel the burn. This is another one of my favorite stretches. It's called the frog pose and it hurts so good. It's a little bit painful so I always have to remind myself to take a deep breath in this pose. It's a hip opener. To cool down, I lay on my back, hug my knees in, and gently rock from side to side. On days where I have more energy, I'll grab my dumbbells and do some strength training. I train my biceps and my shoulders and triceps. Let me flex my muscles. Don't be scared of these guns. Finally, I like to do full body workouts. I usually just use my body weight and no equipment. If I'm training my lower body, I'll do squats. So I squat down and stand up. Squat down, stand up. I'll do maybe 25 reps. I usually do high reps if I'm not using any weight. My favorite bodyweight exercise is push-ups because they're a challenge for me. Let's see how many push-ups I can do. Don't judge me. It's been a while. I might be a little bit rusty. 1, 2, 3. 101, 102, 103. 103. That's pretty normal for me. Not a record, but not bad. No, you're joking. This is exhausting. Do I have a six-pack yet? I have to drink a gallon of water a day. I usually drink a lot of water, but even for me, that's a bit excessive. But my lifesaver is my Stanley. A gallon of water is about 3 of these Stanleys. I hate drinking late at night, so I usually start drinking water bright and early in the morning, and I drink a lot after workouts when I'm feeling dehydrated. Let's prep my water bottle together. I always use a Brita to filter my water. I just take the top off put it in the sink, and turn on the faucet to fill it up. And now I just have to wait for it to finish filtering. Patience. And I pour the water into my Stanley. I fill it all the way up to the top. Stanleys are so popular in the US, especially this size of Stanley. I fill it up and sip on it all throughout the day. Refreshing. For me, the hardest part of 75 Hard has been the diet. You can choose whatever diet you want to do, but you can't have any cheat days for 75 days. And I guess I like to torture myself because I chose a very difficult diet. For 75 days, I'm not eating gluten, I'm not eating sugar, and all of my meals must be cooked at home. So no delivery food, no eating out at restaurants, no Coupon Eats. Why did I do this to myself? I try to make high-protein meals with clean ingredients and lots of whole foods. I've been eating a lot of yogurt bowls, salads, eggs, chicken breast, and one of my favorite meals in the summer is a smoothie because it's very quick and convenient and it kind of tastes like dessert. Today I'm going to show you how I make my healthy and delicious smoothie. I've already got my blender out. It's a Vitamix and it is by far my favorite kitchen appliance. It's so strong and powerful, and I use it almost every day. I've got frozen blueberries and frozen spinach. I always add the frozen foods to the blender first because they're the hardest to blend, so they need to be right next to the blades. I put a generous amount of spinach in. Then I add some blueberries. I have one kind of sad-looking banana. I put half of a banana in my smoothie. Wait, get out of here. Don't look in the cupboard. It's messy. From the cupboard, I grab my Super Seeds. And my protein powder. I use this very boring protein powder. It's pea protein. It has no soy, no dairy, and there's 24 grams of protein per scoop. Look at the ingredients. It's literally one ingredient. It's just yellow pea protein isolate. Very clean, but it tastes like crap. That's why I mix it in with my smoothie. I take 1 scoop and put it in the blender. Then I do 1 tablespoon of flaxseeds. These are very healthy, especially for women's hormones. And 1 scoop of chia seeds. These are a great source of fiber. I like to use almond milk because it's a little bit lower calorie and lower fat than some other non-dairy milk. I just eyeball it. Eyeball it means I don't measure it out. I just look at it and guess how much I need. I put the top on my blender and plug it in. I hit the switch to turn it on, and I usually like to blend it at a very high speed, but beware, this blender is very strong, but it's incredibly loud. I think my neighbors probably hate me when I make my smoothie. I forgot one ingredient. I usually like to add in some cinnamon powder. It's pretty empty right now. Usually I just sprinkle a little bit in there, but since it's almost gone, I'm going to dump it all. I grab a glass out and use a rubber spatula to put the smoothie in the glass. Ooh, it's pretty thick. Just how I like it. I need to eat it with a spoon because it's so thick and creamy. This one is perfect. It's not too sweet, but it's still delicious. And even though it doesn't look like a lot, it's very filling.
Mmm.
Let's head to the living room so I can enjoy my breakfast. I'm a huge bookworm, and I usually start my day and end my day by reading, and I love to get a couple of pages in while I enjoy my breakfast. Usually I read fiction books, but during 75 Hard, you have to read at least 10 pages of nonfiction every single day. So that part of it has been a little bit challenging for me, but it's also cool to get out of my comfort zone. I use a reading app called Goodreads to track all of the books that I read. I'll share what non-fiction books I've read so far throughout this challenge. I read The Cold Start Problem, Nonviolent Communication, Hood Feminism, Always Running, And my favorite book that I've read so far throughout this challenge is called Quiet by Susan Cain. I found this book to be very interesting and I could really relate to it because it's about the power of introverts and I myself am an introvert. I'm INFP. In this book, the author talks about how our society tends to value extroverts, but introverts are very powerful in their own way. So whether you're an introvert or an extrovert, I really recommend reading this book. I usually read ebooks on my Kindle, but These days I have a few physical books that I'm trying to get through. After a long day, I need a nice cold glass of kombucha because I can't drink alcohol during this challenge. Oh, I already drank most of this.
Oops!
At least it looks a little bit like beer, right? I'm not a big drinker anyways. Cheers! Cheers!
Cheers!
Cheers!
So being sober for 75 days shouldn't be too much of a challenge, but I had a few events the past few weeks like birthday parties, wedding parties, and that was really difficult. Everybody around me was drinking beer and wine and soju, and I can't even really drink mocktails because most of them contain added sugar, so I just drank water at these events. Mocktails are cocktails without any alcohol in them. Non-alcoholic liquor is gaining popularity like crazy in the US these days. I even tried a shot of non-alcoholic tequila in the US. It was strange. Day 75. Woo! I did it, you guys. It was definitely not easy, but I'm so proud of myself for sticking to it. I learned a lot from doing this challenge and want to share my honest opinion about it. Let's start with the things I didn't like about it. First, I think it's too long. 75 days is a really long time and I thought about giving up multiple times. The longer time went on, the harder it got. I think a 1-month or a 2-month challenge is enough. Number 2, I had no social life. Usually when I meet up with friends, we go out to eat together or we go to a cafe and enjoy some desserts together. But I couldn't do that during this challenge, so that part of it was really difficult. On the other hand, there were some things that I did like about this challenge. First, I lost some weight. I'm not exactly sure how much weight I lost because I didn't weigh myself throughout the challenge, but my pants got looser and many of you actually noticed and commented about it in my other videos. I also feel stronger and have more energy. The second thing I liked about this challenge is that it taught me a very important life lesson. To be completely honest, There were about 3 days where I cheated on this challenge, and at the time I thought about giving up. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I felt really guilty, but I didn't give up. This made me realize that it's better to do something imperfectly than to not do it at all. And I think this can apply to life in many different areas. For example, learning English. It's better to speak imperfect English than to not try speaking English at all. So don't give up, you guys. Keep going. Now is the moment I've been waiting for for 75 days. I'm going to enjoy a big bowl of soojebi. Let's go!
Wow!
Thank you! I wasn't kidding when I said I wanted a huge bowl of soojebi. I've been craving this for 75 days. Delicious! I love starting my day off with a workout and I found a really interesting workout video on YouTube called Squid Gains. Gains is kind of like gym slang. It basically means muscle. So you can say something like, gotta get them gains, or, ooh, she got gains. It means they're really fit. And muscular. This workout video is an at-home full-body strength training video, and it's based on the game Red Light, Green Light that's in Squid Game. When the instructor says green light, I have to continuously do a move, and when he says red light, I have to stop and hold myself in that position. Step 1 is to turn on the AC because I'm already sweating in this tracksuit. I've got a light dumbbell. Squats are our first move. Green light! These are squat pulses. So I don't stand all the way up. I just go up a little bit and down again. I feel it in my thighs. This is already hard. My thighs are on fire. Oh, don't look at the timer. Oh, I thought this would be an easy workout. Jokes on me. Next up is push-ups. Lower myself to the ground and push up. I'm more confident in my upper body strength.
Wah!
Ooh!
Oh ho ho! Ooh!
Humbled.
I think I have to modify the last ones. I'll keep my knees on the ground. Ah, I hate this red light. I pulled out my mat for the core part of this workout. Leg lifts, let's do this. Ooh, this is the hard part. My legs are shaking, but I'm trying to keep them nice and straight and low to the ground. That workout really hurt my ego. I gotta chug some water after that. I'm so dehydrated. I worked up an appetite, so now it's It's time to cook my favorite meal of the day, breakfast. I'm going to make the exact same meal that they actually eat in Squid Game. I'm turning on the gas. I'm pouring some oil into the pan, and I'll let that heat up for a little bit. I usually use avocado oil. I'm cracking my egg and being careful not to get any pieces of the eggshell in it, which I failed at. I have a small piece. Now I have to fish it out. Normally I like my eggs over easy, but I think in these lunchboxes They're usually over hard. I'm gonna use a rubber spatula to flip the egg. Oh, this would be a perfect over easy egg because I didn't break the yolk. While the egg is cooking, I'm going to prep for step 2 of this recipe. That does not crack well in there. That egg is stubborn. Step 2, I will be cooking this sausage. I have never tried this kind of sausage before in my life, so I'm actually very curious about it. I've got the sausage on my cutting board and I'm cutting it into slices. I'm whisking the egg. First you have to coat the sausage in flour, and then you dip it in the egg and put it in the pan. Now I just have to stir-fry some kimchi. Look, you can tell how much I love kimchi. I go through kimchi like crazy. I'm working so hard making this entire meal completely from scratch. You didn't see that. I'm taking a shortcut. I've got microwave rice, roasted seaweed, and I even got the anchovy side dish pre-made. I've never really tried stir-fried anchovies before. I've only had it as a base for soup. Let me pop this in the microwave. Modern conveniences. I'm gonna try a bite of this first. I'm a little bit intimidated by these ones. I think the eyeballs just kind of creep me out, but here we go. Very salty. It doesn't taste fishy at all, actually. I think it will pair very nicely with the rice. All that's left to do is assemble the lunchbox. Kimchi, good. Some sausages.
Ta-da!
It's looking pretty good. Now I'm crushing some seaweed on top. I'm putting the lid on. Nothing is mixing because it's Too full. Oh no, look how skinny that is. That's okay, I'll just mix it myself. I made a big mess, but I finally got it all mixed up. Let's go sit at the table and give it a try. Chamomile tea, please. Ooh, I'm excited. I'm gonna try to get everything in one bite. Mmm, it's tasty. Let me try one of these sausage slices. It tastes like fish sticks somehow. I love fish sticks, so I think it's delicious. But it's totally unexpected. I thought it would taste more like bacon or a hot dog. Now I know I could survive in Squid Game. If they're feeding me like this, I think I'd be very happy. Now it's time to play some games. Of course, we have to start with ddakji. This is the most iconic game in Squid Game. In the US, we don't have the same thing, but we have something kind of similar called Pogs. It was popular when I was very young, but I never actually played Pogs. I only collected them, so I'm not too confident in my dakji skills. Bawi bawi bo.
No way!
What, bro? Okay, okay. He grew up playing this game. That's an unfair advantage. Gotta roll up my sleeves for this. I thought games were supposed to be fun. I did used to play with tops. When I was younger, but never with the rope. We would just do it where you grab this part and spin it, so I have no clue what I'm doing right now. Wow.
So this is the trick. You have to make a knot first.
Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
Woo-hoo-hoo!
Woo! It's my time to shine.
Oh!
Oh!
Oh!
I got it! Now I'm going to play Jaggi. I had to borrow my husband's shoes because I was wearing sandals. I think they're going to fly off. Okay, 2. Maybe 2 is my limit. Oh, 4. You look a little psychotic. This is frustrating. Okay, okay. I could never survive in Squid Game. Korean kids games are so difficult. In the US, I think the kids games are much easier. Hide and seek, tag, easy peasy. These are so hard. Why does he beat me at everything? Korean. Have some mercy.
I can go into Squid Game and win some money.
Those games had me stressing. So I ordered myself a coffee and a little sweet treat. Of course, I had to keep it Squid Game themed. So I got a dalgona latte and a dalgona waffle. I love how in Korea sometimes when you get delivery, they'll leave little notes on the packages. It's so cute. Look at that.
Wow.
It's a cream-filled waffle, but then it has little crunchy pieces of dalgona on the top. Mm, it's really good. But I don't know if I could tell that it's dalgona. It just tastes like a sweet latte to me. Delicious though. Wow, that is a sugar bomb. My only complaint with dalgona though is it always gets stuck in my teeth. I might have to go to the dentist after eating this. Mm. Tastes really good though. I'm gonna read my book while I enjoy my sweet treat. I'm almost done with this book. I have about 50 pages left, so I think I can finish it. To be honest, this is a 1-star book from me. I don't like it, but I must finish it. The coffee and waffle will make it better. I got a dalgona kit. This mini pan is so cute. I'm putting a spoonful of brown sugar. We've got baking soda, which I will add in a little bit later. It's liquifying. I can open up my my own shop in Myeongdong. Be a street vendor selling dalgona in Myeongdong. The smell is amazing. Like that?
Oh!
Smelling a little burnt! Smush her down. Smush! What? Dude. Tastes really good! Too much baking soda, I think. That's so thick. No way I can do that. That's so thick. Um, there is no way I'm gonna be able to break this. I think I have the best shot at getting this one out though. It's a mini one!
Oh—
ohh!
Now is the hard part. I have to try and get this shape out without the cookie breaking. I've got a small pin here to help me out. Sounds promising... But it didn't break! It just cracked! No, no, I got too confident. I was going faster and faster. Wow, this strategy worked for him in the show, so I'm licking it now.
Oh, it worked.
Hmm, what? I quit Squid Game. This is why I watch Squid Game and not participate in the games. I just checked Netflix and the new episodes are finally up, so it's time to watch season 3 of Squid Game. As you can see, I have a big variety of snacks here and they're all Squid Game-themed. Themed, so I'll try them and rate them as I watch the show.
Ah!
I'm so excited. This better end well. Let's go! I'm trying these first. They look spicy. These are really good. They're so thick and crunchy. And they're actually not too spicy. I was scared when I saw the word 불. I'll give these maybe a 9. I like them. They're very flavorful too. Same chip, but this is pepper mayo flavor.
Mm.
I might like these even more. I'm gonna give it 9.3. Tastes kind of garlicky. Really good. Ooh, I would vote X for sure. Oof, I do not like this lady. Ew, she's so creepy. Oh, she's good. Get him, get him. She a baddie. Oh, these are so cute. They have the shapes like dalgona, but they're potato chips. Not bad. A bit dry. And I like the other chips much better. So these are a 7. They're cute, but they're kind of bland. Isn't this guy a detective?
Hello!
Wow.
Unbelievable. All right. First game of the season. Let's see what it is. I broke up the pieces. And now I'm pouring the seasoning into the bag. And now I shake it. Not bad. I'll give this an 8.
Go!
What are you doing? Time is running out. I even got real squid. I'm nervous for this one. Oh my God. Mm-mm, this ain't it. I can barely chew it. Yes! 120! 120 is so smart. She's my favorite for sure. They're driving me crazy. Stop talking, just go.
Bali!
Last snack, Dalgona cookies. It's got Dalgona. In it and white chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips. It tastes good, but I don't like the texture. I wish it was softer or harder, but it's an awkward in-between. These get a 7. Oh my gosh, is she actually giving birth? Oh, she actually had a baby during this game. What? She's a fighter though. Broken ankle, having a baby— 120! 120! No no no no no! I'm done watching this show. I'm over it. I can't handle this. I'm two episodes in but I'm gonna take a quick break to do my skincare before I continue binge-watching. I'm using eye makeup remover and cotton pads to remove my makeup. Now I'm cleansing my face. I have to lather it up to get it nice and soapy. I'm going to rinse this off with some water. Eye makeup is so annoying because it's so hard to remove. It's time for a face mask. I'm ready!
Boo!
Can you tell who I am? It's the Red Light Green Light girl. I found this on Amazon and I couldn't resist. I gotta stop laughing. The upper lip is going into my mouth. Are these her eyebrows? I guess this is like the eyeliner. They gave her some thin '90s brows. Red light, green light. Are you scared? Why are you backing away? Where are you going? I'm gonna end the night by watching the rest of these episodes. Today I'm going to show you my daily routine. Actually, My YouTube subscribers chose my routine today. I asked you guys what you wanted to see me do. I'm so excited because you planned such a fun day for me. For my morning workout, you said you wanted to see me go for a run, so I came to this stream and I'm going to warm up with some stretching first. I always start my run runs with a few dynamic stretches to loosen up my muscles so I don't get cramps. I always make sure to stretch out my calves especially well. I'll finish off with a few lunges. Today I'm running a 5K. It's really nice because there's not many people out here on the track today. So I have it all to myself practically. Let's go! Beginning workout. I usually prefer yoga or bodyweight strength training, but I know it's important to do cardio from time to time. I'm trying to focus on my form by pumping my arms and remembering to breathe. I'm taking long strides and trying to run at a consistent pace. Woo! My heart rate is up. I'm already so sweaty. I'm really tired, but I gotta push through. Mind over matter. It's so hot. I'm gonna walk for a minute to catch my breath. I'm not trying to beat my PR today. I'm just trying to survive. You can do it, Callie! Hey, how's it going? If I see another runner, I'll usually nod my head or just raise my hand like that to say hello and kind of encourage each other. Also, we're at the halfway point. I'm gonna turn around and go back to our starting point.
Kajaa!
Are you guys trying to kill me? I've always heard of runner's high, but I just feel like I'm gonna die. I made it to 4K, so I've got 1 kilometer. I'm gonna kick it up a notch and finish strong with a few sprints. Let's go!
Woo!
We did it, guys! It was a challenge for me, but I'm proud of myself for making it to the end. Now I'm just cooling down, and then I'll head home to make some breakfast. Today I'm making breakfast tacos, and I'll start by frying up some bacon. I love to hear that sizzle. Nothing beats the smell of bacon. While the bacon cooks, I'm going to prep some vegetables. Step 1, remove the seeds. Now I am dicing the peppers. I'm turning off the heat. I'm using paper towel to soak up some of the grease, so I just wipe it up and put it in the trash. Now I'm going to make some scrambled eggs with veggies. Actually, I'm making scrambled egg white, to be more precise. I've got it on like medium-high heat, and I'm just going to drizzle a little bit of olive oil so that I can coat the bottom of it. I'm throwing in my diced bell pepper along with some minced garlic. I'm lazy and buy it pre-minced. I'm dumping a little bit of the spinach in there. Okay, maybe not not a little bit. I like my greens. I use my spatula to move everything around in the pan so that it's all evenly cooked. It's time to add in the liquid egg whites. I don't measure how much I pour in, I just eyeball it. I'm grinding some pepper. Sprinkling some salt on top. I also had some nutritional yeast on hand, so I'll add that in too. I'm mixing it all together. I'm scraping the edges with my spatula. I'm just going to heat up some tortillas in the microwave. It's time to assemble the tacos. I'm going to start by spreading some guacamole on the tortilla. This guacamole is pre-made. I'm spreading a thin layer on the tortilla. A slice of bacon goes on the bottom. I'm scooping out some of the eggs and adding it to my taco. I'm going to top the tacos with two of my favorite things, Melinda's Green Hot Sauce. This brand is very popular in the US and I'm obsessed with it. I also add Everything But the Bagel seasoning to almost everything I eat. It gives it a nice crunch. This is how it looks after plating. I sliced up some fresh kiwi because I always like to have some fruit on the side. I'm going to devour this. Mmm, dang, that hits the spot. I'm stuffed from breakfast, but I'm dying for a cup of coffee. So thank you guys for voting for me to go café hopping in Nyananthong. I'm heading there now. First stop is Kvarna Praha. It's run by a husband and wife. The husband is actually from the Czech Republic, and the wife said she actually watches my videos. So let's head in and check it out and meet them. Hello!
Hi!
Thanks for having us.
This place is so cute.
Sure, we'll go with your recommendation. One Orange Presso and Praha Latte. And oh, what do we want to eat? We ordered a lot of food because we couldn't make up our minds. But first things first, I have to take a drink of my coffee. This is the Praha Latte. Mmm, it's actually so nice. It's perfectly sweet. This might be a stupid question. How do I drink this one? Do I stir it?
Yeah, you should stir it because it's a combination of jam, syrup, coffee, and heavy cream.
This one is quite unique because it has orange juice and espresso. I've never tried something like this before. Wow, it sounds like such an odd combination to me, but it works. You're the best barista, best barista. Wow, oh my gosh, this looks amazing too. This one almost looks too beautiful to eat. What's your— INFP. Yeah, the best one is IDK.
I don't know.
IDK. I can't choose a favorite. I've loved everything. If I must choose, maybe I'll say the chimney cake, actually. It's got a strong cinnamon flavor ever, and I think the ice cream on top was a great recommendation. But all of them are amazing. How did you guys meet?
We did meet in Prague. My wife was working there for a bit, and actually her work and my work was very close. Actually, I work in bank.
Wow, okay.
Always when I was outside on a break or just chilling, I saw her walking to her job. And somehow I asked— it was very hard for me because I'm introverted, but somehow it happened. And then back and forth, and now we're here.
That is so cool. So you approached her on the street?
Yeah, it was very hard.
Yeah, you're brave, you're brave.
Bye!
Our first stop was a big success. We are on to our second cafe of the day. It's a Studio Ghibli themed cafe, and all of the pictures look very whimsical and cute, so I'm excited. I can tell this place is going to be great. It's already adorable, and I'm only at the entrance. I feel like I stepped into a fairy tale here. We ordered a decaf Americano. We also got a lavender latte because the worker said this was one of their most popular menu items here. It tastes mostly like milk because I think I need to stir it. Ah, they even have a gift shop full of Studio Ghibli merch. I'm not a die-hard hard fan of Studio Ghibli, but growing up my sister and I always watched Totoro. It was our favorite movie. Yeonnam-dong is such a cute area to explore. I love that there's so many locally owned shops and cafes and restaurants here. You can find something on every corner. Last stop, Next on our cafe tour is a place called Gyeomsasoul. It has a very laid-back vibe. It's almost like you're having coffee at somebody's apartment. I got a hot cup of peppermint tea because my body just can't handle any more coffee today. It's very soothing. Wow, everyone here is so young. I gotta leave. I feel awkward. Just kidding. Everyone was very welcoming and kind there. I'm hopping on the subway to go to Jongno because you guys voted for me to drink soju at a pojang. It's rush hour. I like this vibe, but first stop is the convenience store. I need to get a condition because I rarely drink soju, so I need to prepare myself. I'll get one of each. Gamsahamnida. Wow, they even have zero sugar hangover jellies. There are so many different pochas on this street, it's hard to choose one, but we found a spot and we're waiting for my friend. But first, I'm going to take the hangover prevention jelly. I hope this works. Hi, good to see you. Do you like pajeon?
Anything?
Yeah, okay, I'm gonna, I'm gonna Okay. The onion. Kamsahamnida.
Ganbei.
Ganbei.
Arriba, abajo, al centro y adentro? Oh, how do you say? Arriba, abajo, al centro y para adentro. Oh my gosh. Kamsahamnida. That looks fire. It does look so good. It looks really crispy. We got some food and everything looks delicious. I love the vibe of sitting outside on the street street on these plastic stools. It reminds me of a K-drama.
What do they do on K-dramas?
We feel like in K-dramas they're always drinking their sorrows, they're always drowning their sadness in soju. Cheers to that.
Cheers.
I think it's interesting how in Korea most places you order food while you drink, and some bars even require that you order food if you're going to have a drink. In the US, when we go to a bar, we're there to drink. You just get beer or shots and that's it. Like, you don't really order food too much. You can, but you don't have to. Cheers! Woo-hoo! That one gave me I have chills. The cameraman's face is turning red. Are you okay? Let's go. Shikimogasu mida! Last stop of the day. We're bowling, baby. It looks really fun. They have strobe lights, music, and there's actually quite a lot of people here. I haven't bowled in ages, so I'm not too confident, but I'll try my best. I always love how crazy bowling shoes look. It's kind of funny and cute that these are Velcro shoes. I feel like I'm a child again. Let's pick out my bowling ball. Wah! They're so wide. You need big hands. Oh, this is better. This feels good. A little rusty. First throw was a gutter ball, but my next throw will be a strike.
Wow.
I can live if she beats me. If the cameraman beats me, that's going to be rough. This is my best motivator. I got to beat him. Okay, I'll do granny style, 'cause this ain't working. I'm like the spare queen tonight. But I can't get a dang strike. I'm going to let this guy go. Why is there one more? Spicy! You're so spicy! Fair, baby, fair! What are the chances of that? We tied!
Loser got a—
I'm never We're going again. Kamsahamnida! Bye! It's past my bedtime, so we're taking a bus home. I just got home and am ready to go to bed. I did a lot of things today that I don't normally do. Thank you so much for planning such a a fun day for me today. Good night everyone! I have big news! I applied to SNU and was accepted!
Woo!
Just kidding. Today I am taking a tour of the campus to teach you university English. Let's get started! I came across some people playing soccer. The soccer field. It makes me think of football in the US because college sports are huge in America. I have so many good memories of going to the college football stadium and watching a game. My tour guide just arrived.
Hi, Silvia!
Hi! Good to see you! Long time no see! This is Silvia from Finland, and she's a full-time student here at SNU. What are you majoring in?
Korean Linguistics.
I think she's Korean at this point. Totally fluent. What's your favorite place on campus?
Maybe the pond or the library.
I always love a university library. So what's our first stop on today's tour?
I think we should go that way, then we will pass the College of Art and then College of Humanities.
Let's go! So you did your bachelor's in Finland? Yes, in Helsinki. How is it different?
In Finland, it's more individualistic. We don't have this one campus where everything is located. Also, the professor-student relationship is different. In Korea, I feel like they tend to help more, or they are like more interested even in personal level, how we are doing.
Oh, that's so nice!
Maybe that's also because I'm a foreigner. I'm very lucky to have this kind of professors. Good professors.
Yes, that's good.
I love how this campus is surrounded by nature. It's very peaceful. The students must need this. They have such a stressful life. Yeah, doing homework and studying all the time. It must be nice to walk outside and enjoy this nature. This is the new library behind me. I love visiting university libraries. Even though it's summer, I bet there are lots of students inside cramming for tests or pulling all-nighters. I heard that you can get a meal at the cafeteria for 저는 , so I'm going to head there now and grab a bite to eat. Let's find somewhere to sit. Wah, I can't believe this is only ₩1,000. That's less than $1 US. So cheap, and it actually looks quite nice. We've got rice, some radish and side dishes, and this—
try a piece.
Let's see. I think it's chicken. It's similar Similar to tangsuyuk.
Not bad.
In the US, it's quite different. Most students have a meal plan that gives them access to different cafeterias on campus. And they pay that as part of their tuition. How much is your tuition? Is that shade? Let's go return my tray. You can buy lots of SNU merch at the store here. You can tell they have a lot of school spirit. In Korea, I notice a lot of university students wearing varsity jackets. I don't think it's quite as common in the US. Most people in the US just buy hoodies or sweatpants. I found the school mascot. It's so cute. I feel like I'm hiking now. Since Korea is so mountainous, I realized a lot of universities are all uphill. You have to work hard to get to classes. We picked up another friend on our campus tour. Can you introduce yourself?
Yeah, of course. My name is Hangji and I am now graduated from Seoul National University. Thank you. I studied business and computer science, and I'm actually from the States, so I lived there all my life, and then I came here for college, spent 5 years here.
How do you think college life here in Korea compares to college life in the US?
Maybe a clear similarity is that you start off with your gen ed classes. So everyone takes the same classes in their freshman year as in the States. And then you move into your major-specific courses in your second, third, and fourth years. But then a difference I would say is that you have more time in college in Korea to think about what you want to do. So most of the time freshman year is just spent partying. You spent 18 years of your life studying, so now you're off to school and you're partying. And then sophomore year, it's like a transition period, and then I would say junior and senior years really when you start to think think about what you want to do. And in these years, I've noticed a lot of students will take a gap year just to take a breather or to think about what they want to do or pursue an internship. Whereas in the States, I've noticed that people graduate in 4 years. Gap years aren't very common, and people will start to do internships very early on, even your first or second year.
Do people take electives as well?
Yeah, of course. So electives are required in some sense. It's kind of contradictory, but because you have to fulfill a certain number of credits. Some fun electives that I've done have been sports ones, so there's golf and there's Pilates. I've also taken a class about Disney, so that was really fun too. So electives are definitely part of our curriculum here as well. Another really big difference is the club culture. So you make a lot of friends doing clubs here, whereas in the States, I don't know if club culture is nearly nearly as big of a part of college life.
In the US, Greek life is a big part of the college experience, but you don't have it here in Korea, right?
No, not at all.
In American colleges, we have something called Greek life. Girls can go to sororities and boys can be in fraternities, and you pay money to be in this club. They become kind of your college family. They even call each other sisters or brothers. So at my college, there was one street and it was filled with sororities and fraternities, and it was known as the party street. They're kind of known for being party animals. Sometimes there is a problem with hazing, which is bullying the first year. Not always the case, but it happens. In the US, you were required to live on campus for the first at least semester. I want to say the first year even, maybe. My first year of college, I went in blind. I didn't know my roommates at all. I had 3 roommates, and we say go in blind when you don't know who they are. They're just randomly assigned to you. I got really lucky. I had great roommates. When I lived in a dorm, we had an RA, and basically they were like a babysitter or the boss of your floor. They just had to make sure that you didn't have alcohol in your room. My RA was really cool, so he'd always give us a warning. He'd knock on the doors and say, "If you have anything to hide, hide it now!" I think they have a similar system here in Korea. Are the dorms separated by gender or are any of the dorms co-ed?
Undergrad dorms are separated separated. For master's students, there is one building where both females and males live, but they have different floors.
This is one of the top schools, so I feel like you must get a lot of homework. It must be really tough here. Can you tell me a little bit about that?
Like I said, I major in business and computer science, so I think the majors are very different. In business, I don't really get that many homework assignments, rather it's like one big term project or like a group project. In CS, computer science, we get a lot of homework. So it's pretty heavy on the amount of coursework we have to do. How about you?
During master's, instead of homework, we have one bigger final report that we submit.
So in order to graduate, since you're a master's student, do you have to write a thesis?
Yes, I'm working on my thesis. Thesis at the moment. I have been working on it for a few semesters now, and I will graduate next semester.
Woohoo!
Congratulations! You guys seem like very hard workers. I remember skipping class a lot in college. Do you ever skip?
We have a system where you can just tap your ID card on this attendance checker. It's all electronic, or you can even do a QR scan of your student ID. A lot of people will just tap or scan, then they will leave really fast before the professor walks in. But when it's like 300 people in one class, it's hard for the professor to know who's there or not.
Uh, for us, our class size is very small, usually less than 10 people, and professors are close with the master's students, so even if they don't look at the name list, they remember who's in the class.
So it's harder in in your classes, you can't get away with much. I hear the terms "sunbae" and "hubei" a lot in Korea here. Is that real?
It is definitely real. We definitely do have a sunbae-hubei culture. So one of the ways that the sunbaes will help the hubeis is that they will pass down what's called "jukpo," which is basically a collection of previous tests and homework assignments that this professor has given. And that is one of the ways that you can be more prepared for a class than maybe your peers who don't have that sunbaehoobae relationship. Also, it's just the nature of Korea. It's very hierarchical. So you have like onni, oppa. So that makes it really easy to maintain a sunbaehoobae relationship. And it's a really easy way to call them if you forget their name.
That's the cheat code. I'm jealous. I want sunbae. You just graduated. You're about to graduate. What are your next plans in life?
I am actually off to law school in the States. I will be continuing my studies for the next 3 years. After law school, I'm still undetermined on what exactly I want to pursue, but I'm really looking forward to continuing to study and getting started on my legal career.
Good luck!
Thank you!
That's amazing. Good luck.
Thank you. I want to do my PhD. PhD here in Korea.
Will you get your PhD at SNU?
Yes, that's what I want to do.
Congratulations! Well, thank you ladies so much for joining me today and giving me a tour of the school. It made me reminisce, so I appreciate it. Today is moving day. We're moving from Seoul to Busan, so I'm going to teach you some English expressions expressions used while moving, starting from packing and preparing all the way to enjoying jjajangmyeon in our new place. Bye, Seoul! We're in the moving truck now on our way to Busan. It's about a 5-hour drive. It's quite a long trip from Seoul to Busan, so we're taking a quick break and grabbing a bite to eat at the rest stop. After eating, we'll probably go to the gas station and fill up our tank before getting back on the road. You can never go wrong with dumplings. They're very plump and juicy. Stop Food in Korea never lets me down. The driver gave us some ice cold waters. So necessary today. Welcome to our new home. We just finished unloading the truck and wow, It's so messy now. We've got our work cut out for us tonight. This apartment is a bit small, but it's cozy. It's time to start unpacking. I hate this part. Our last apartment was fully furnished, so we didn't have any of our own furniture. But this place was completely empty. It was unfurnished, so we had to buy a few necessities like this mattress. We need somewhere to sleep tonight. Let's do some unboxing. When moving, you always need a box cutter. These things come in handy. I'm tipping the box over. Let's use these muscles. Okay, I got this. I feel like it's going to explode like the tent at the Han.
Done!
Let's test it out. Wow, it looks a little bit sad right now. We don't have a bed frame yet, and it's quite thin because it was vacuum sealed, so it's still expanding, but it's not bad. It's pretty comfortable. I'm unpacking boxes and getting organized. For such a small apartment, there's surprisingly a lot of storage, so I'm figuring out where to put everything. I put our snacks and some food in these cupboards. We have a lot of seaweed. Every time I move, it takes me about a week before I finally decide where things go. I'm constantly moving things around and changing where they go.
Oops.
It's time for Korea's moving tradition, having well-deserved jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk. I ordered through Coupang Eats. I'm so happy to know that it's just as fast here in Busan. I'll try the tangsuyuk first. Do you pour the sauce onto the tangsuyuk or do you dip the tangsuyuk? Personally, I'm a dipper. Jingmok!
Not bad.
It especially hits the spot after a long day of moving. I pour the sauce on it.
What?
Did I do this wrong? Oh, because that one's bigger. Okay, okay, okay. There we go. We fixed it. I let it sit out for a little bit, so the noodles are a little bit soggy, but it's okay. I love this tradition. To be honest, I don't think I eat jjajangmyeon on any other day except for moving day. And I don't know why because I love it. But I guess maybe it makes it extra special. I only eat it on a special occasion. My favorite spot in the new apartment is definitely the kitchen. It's the best room here. It's much larger than my old kitchen and has a lot more counter space and cupboards for storage. I'm obsessed. I'll try to do even more cooking lives or cooking videos for you guys. It's been a long and exhausting day. So I'm going to finish eating my dinner and watch a show and call it a night. I'm being resourceful. I don't have a kitchen table yet, so I'm using a moving box as my table for now. Today I'm going to show you my new morning routine in Busan. The first thing I do is make my bed because it gets my day off to a good start. Now let's go to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Actually, before brushing my teeth, I floss and tongue scrape. I pull out a long piece of floss and wrap it around my fingers, and then I floss my teeth. Next, I use my tongue scraper. Now it's time to brush my teeth. I use an electric toothbrush. I squeeze some toothpaste onto my toothbrush and turn it on to brush my teeth. After rinsing my mouth out, I use mouthwash. I take a little bit and swish it in my mouth. I always fill up my Stanley at night. So it's ready to go in the morning. I like to drink water before having a cup of tea or coffee. I like taking it slow in the mornings, so I usually make a cup of tea and relax a bit before starting my day. I'm turning on the faucet to fill up the kettle. While I'm waiting for the water to boil, I grab a mug and my tea out of the cupboard. Usually I drink loose leaf tea, but my infuser broke, so today I'm— so today I'm using a tea bag. Whoa, it's going crazy. I'm pouring the boiling water into my mug. It's steaming hot, so I have to blow on it to cool it down. While I sip on my tea, I write in my journal. These days I'm using the Five Minute Journal. It's very popular in the US and it has a section for morning and night. So right now I'm going to do the morning section. First I fill in the date and I like that there's always a quote at the top. This quote It says, "You cannot get an A if you're afraid of getting an F." Wow, that's an incredible quote. That means it's very important to get over your fear of failure and still try. Now I will write about what I'm grateful for, what would make today great, and a daily affirmation. Next, I do some breathing exercises. I do something called box breathing. I learned about it on YouTube. I'll link the video. I sit in a cross-legged position, close my eyes, and I breathe in for 4 seconds, hold it at the top, and then take a longer exhale. I breathe in and out through my nose. I do this for about 10 minutes. It really helps keep me calm and focused throughout the day. I feel so relaxed But now it's time to move my body. I changed into my workout clothes, and I'm going to do a little warm-up before my workout. I've got a foam roller and my yoga mat. This week I've been foam rolling my calves a lot because they are extremely sore. I could hardly walk this week. I start out with both of my legs on the foam roller. This is also kind of an arm and ab workout too. Then I stack one leg on top of the other. This one is a bit more painful. I have to mentally prepare myself for this.
Go!
Oh, and I try to move my bottom leg from side to side as I roll. Hurts so good. You just gotta smile through the pain.
How do I—
am I doing this right? I'm a foam roller newbie. Can you tell? Let's head outside. Wow, you can't beat Working out with this view. This is why I moved to Busan. I very recently added jump rope into my workout routine. This is only day 2 of me doing it, so I'm a complete beginner. My form is probably not the greatest, so don't come for me. I try to do 1,000 jumps a day, which takes about 10 minutes. I can't do any fancy footwork yet, so I just hop like this. It's great cardio. This is why my calves were so sore this week. How do people do it like the boxers? One foot. Oh, I feel the burn. I can't. Catch me in a few months. I'll be doing all the fancy footwork. I'm sweaty. I need coffee. Let's go grab a cup of coffee. And take a walk and enjoy this view. Gamsahamnida. I got my coffee to go and I'm walking along the beach. It's a little bit overcast today, but I still think it's going to be a beautiful day today. I love the smell of the beach, and you get a really nice breeze from the water. I love how active people are around here. I always see people jogging on the beach, paddleboarding, and even swimming in the very early morning. It's a great vibe, and it actually really motivates me. My hair is greasy. I'm I'm sweaty. I'm stinky. It's time to take a shower and get ready. I wrapped my hair up and dried off with a towel. Now I'm going to do my skincare and makeup. I use eyebrow gel and brush my eyebrows to style them. Sunscreen, always. My makeup is done. Now I'm going to pick out my clothes and get dressed before blow-drying my hair. I'm looking through my closet to pick out my clothes. I think I'm gonna wear a jean skirt today. I picked out my top, so now it's time to get dressed. I'm so hungry and I want something quick and easy, so I'm gonna make a a Greek yogurt bowl for breakfast. I need to grab the ingredients from the fridge. Obviously we need Greek yogurt. I bought a lot of kiwi the other day, so I'm gonna have one with breakfast. Step 1 is to put some yogurt in the bowl. I always buy this low-fat Greek yogurt. I like to stir it to mix it up a bit. I'm sprinkling some flaxseed on top. I also add some chia seed. I mix that all together. I got out my cutting board and knife to chop up some fruit to add to the bowl. I keep the skin on my kiwi. It's good fiber. Chop the fruit, not your fingers. I'm slicing up half a banana. Finally, I'll top it off with some goji berries. Easy peasy. Looks good, right? Mmm, I love yogurt bowls, especially in summer. To finish up my daily routine, I usually go over my to-do list and check my emails while I eat breakfast and drink my coffee. I used to use a few different apps, but now I mostly use Google Calendar to organize all of my tasks. As you can see, I have a to-do list. I have my morning routine here so I can check these off. I finished my breathing exercises, my journal, and my workout. Later I will do the same thing for my night routine. Today I'm going to show you my weekend routine. It's beautiful out today, so I'm heading to the beach. First things first, let's pack a beach bag. I've got my beach day essentials in front of me. Obviously I need a swimsuit. Sometimes I wear a bikini, but today I'm packing my one-piece. I don't want to get a sunburn, so I've got sunscreen and a sun stick for my face. I'm packing 2 beach towels and a book so I don't get bored when I'm tanning. I've got my sunglasses already on my head. Now I just have to put on my sandals before I go. Let's go! I made it to Haeundae Beach. But first, I need to make a quick pit stop at the convenience store because beach snacks are a must. What's trending these days at the convenience store? I feel like I need some chips. That's always a good beach snack. I've never seen this before. Hmm, curry crispy roll. I feel like it might be one of those things that's salty and sweet, but I like very salty snacks, so I'm gonna stick with Pringles, but I've never tried this flavor before. It's Korean Fried Chicken Pringles. Let's give it a shot. I'm gonna check out the ice cream selection because a hot day like today calls for a nice cold treat. Mm, mm, so hard to choose. Oh, I like Daeji-bap. So delicious. Oh, oh my God. I've seen this on TikTok. I have to try this. It looks like fried chicken, but it's ice cream. I hope it's not chicken flavored. I got water to stay hydrated. Hydrated on the beach, but I need something to quench my thirst right now. This caught my eye— zero sugar in 10 grams of protein. It's like protein juice or flavored water. Let's try it. I always see travelers making videos at convenience stores in Korea. It's good. Yes, I know her. Let's take a sip. How is this zero sugar? It's so sweet. This is the best protein drink I've ever had. Let's make the light. I feel like this is gonna melt really fast, so I need to eat it right away. I found a little bit of shade to eat my ice cream in. I'm so curious about this. It looks just like a chicken wing. This is super crunchy, so let's do some ASMR. Mmm. I think it's just vanilla ice cream on the inside and it's coated with corn flakes or some kind of cereal. I actually surprisingly recommend it. It's really good. This is my new favorite kind of Korean fried chicken. I have to change into my swimsuit. This tent behind me is a free changing area, which is super convenient. I'm ready. Let's do this. How's my beach body after an ice cream?
Woo!
The sand is hot. Nothing but clear skies today. I'm gonna get a nice tan. I think I'm going to rent an umbrella and a tube today. When I think of beaches in Korea, this is what comes to mind. All of the umbrellas lined up on the beach. Beaches in America aren't really like this. In general, I think beaches in Korea are a a bit more controlled. There's always a lifeguard on duty. The beaches close certain times of the year, but in the US we mostly swim at our own risk. Okay, thank you. They have a whole system for this. I love it. They even have a kiosk to rent an umbrella, a tube, or a life jacket. Only in Korea. He's showing us to our spot. I'm spreading out my beach towel. I'm ready to take a dip in the water. I just need to put my hair up first. Usually I don't like leaving my things unattended when I swim, but it's pretty safe in Korea, so I take my chances. I hope those aren't famous last words. Knock on wood. I just dipped my toe in the water and it's freezing. The water's a little murky. Ew.
Big wave coming.
That almost took me out! At least I'm getting used to the cold water. Usually I like to go under, but I did my makeup for the camera today, so no dunking my head this time. When I go under, I always plug my nose and hold my breath. Cameraman, pull me around, please. The buoys are so far out, but let's not go too deep. Let's stay in the shallow water. This is my happy place. I'm like a mermaid. The waves are huge today.
¡Hola!
I didn't plan on getting my face or hair wet, but a giant wave took me out. I'm slathering on some sunscreen because it's time to lay out and try to get a tan, and I don't want to get burnt. I like strapless bathing suits like this so I don't get any weird tan lines. Time to flip over. Usually I love soaking up the sun, but today it's too hot, so I'm back in the shade. I'm gonna take a break and read my book. I just started a new book called Colorless by Murakami Haruki. I haven't read too much of it yet, but so far it's about a man living in Tokyo that is going through a breakup with his friend group. He seems very lonely, and I think it's going to be kind of a sad story. Not bad, not bad. They taste kind of like just plain barbecue chips. They're good, but not my favorite flavor of Pringles. It's kind of boring, but I think I like plain original Pringles the most. I lied, these are growing on me. And now I can't stop eating them. It was nice being a beach bum, but I was getting hot and sweaty, so I changed back into my clothes, and I could use some AC, so I'm going to find a nice café with a good view of the beach. Excuse me. Bye-bye. I packed up my stuff and I'm returning the things that I borrowed. What? I ordered a salad and they gave me this delicious looking pastry instead. Unbelievable. Should I go complain. I guess I just have to eat this. Just kidding guys, but I did have a subscriber ask how to complain in English. So if you ever get the wrong order you can say something like, "Excuse me, I think I got the wrong order." Or "I'm sorry but this isn't what I ordered. I ordered a salad. Hmm, this is much better than a salad. And look at this view, incredible. The sun is starting to set and I wanted to walk off that pastry, so let's take take a stroll on the beach. There's a few street performers singing songs and playing instruments. I love the vibe here. I'm looking for seashells. Let's see if we can find any cool ones. That's just a little piece of one. We gotta find a good one. Keep your eye out for a pretty seashell. I give up. I can't find any pretty seashells, and I'm getting kind of freaked out because there's a bunch of seagulls circling above me. This reminds me of the time my husband and I were at a beach in California, and he lost his wedding ring in the sand. We even hired someone with a metal detector to try and help us find it, but we couldn't find it in the end. So if you have jewelry when you're at the beach, be extra careful. I can't leave the beach without writing my name in the sand. Wow, I just met a subscriber here. That was so cool. She was so friendly. If you ever see me out in the wild vlogging, please say hi. I love meeting you guys. Eating Bun Daeji Gukbap is the perfect way to end a weekend in Busan. They serve it piping hot. Oh, it's so hot, I'm scared. Hmm, it's so comforting. The broth is so flavorful, but if I'm being honest, this is my favorite part of the meal. I love gassi Mmm, tangy, crunchy, perfection. I'm going to enjoy the rest of my meal. Today I'm going to show you my work routine as a YouTuber. Throughout this video, you'll learn some business English that you can use at the office and in different work-related situations. I've got a busy schedule today, So let's dive right in. I try to stay organized because it helps with my time management and productivity. First, I prioritize my tasks to make sure I'm on track to meet any deadlines. For my to-do list, I keep it pretty simple and use the Tasks tab on Google Calendar. I have a weekly to-do list, and every morning I build my daily to-do list. I was supposed to record an MP3 file yesterday, but I missed the deadline and pushed it back to today, so now it's one of my top priorities. Today I also have to write 2 chapters of my book, update our free Notion page, film at least one Shorts, and edit maybe three. And finally, I'm going to try and develop a Lunch Hour English worksheet. Next, I have to see what's on the agenda for today by checking Google Calendar. It looks like I have a Zoom meeting at 9:30 AM with Jem, and in the afternoon I have an offline meeting with my boss. Finally, I open up Gmail to check my emails. I always make sure to flag anything urgent. I've been in discussion with a new teacher that we'll be working with So I have to follow up with him about his schedule. While I do this, I'll give you some tips on how to write a professional email. Step 1 is your greeting, and which greeting you use really depends on your relationship with the person that you're writing to. If you have a close and casual relationship with somebody, you might just use hey or hi. If you want to sound a little bit more professional, you could say dear Mr. or Mrs. This is a very safe choice. It's professional and commonly used. Finally, one last option could be to whom it may concern. This one is used when your message is intended for larger, more general audiences. It's like you don't know who specifically is reading that email or document. I'm pretty close with Jacob, so I'm going to keep it short and casual and just say, "Hi Jacob." Step 2 is your opening line. This should be very short but friendly. You could say something like, Thank you for your time yesterday, or it was so nice seeing you the other day. If it's someone that you haven't seen for a while, you could also say, I hope you've been well. One very professional and common option is, I hope this email finds you well, which is what I'm going to use. Step 3 is to write your reason for the email. You can be a little bit more direct here. I'm writing because the purpose of this email is, and then write why you're writing. I'm going to say, I'm reaching out to follow up on our discussion about you potentially taking on a new class. I've drafted a proposed schedule and would like to share it with you for confirmation. Step 4 is to notify them if there are any attachments. You can say, I've attached something to this document. I'm going to say, please find attached the schedule for next month. Step 5 is to include any requests that you have. This part is a little bit tricky because you need to be clear on what you want, but you also can't sound too pushy. In this email, I need to ask Jacob if he will look over the schedule that I made and confirm it with me. I'm going to do this by saying, could you review it at your earliest convenience? That's a great phrase to know for emails, at your earliest convenience. It's very polite. It just means when they have time. And let me know if the times work for you, if anything needs to be adjusted, please feel free to suggest alternatives. Feel free is also another great phrase to know. It's like telling the other person to be open and comfortable and honest. Feel free to let me know if I need to change anything. Step 6 is your closing. This might change depending on the content of your email. So if you ask them for a favor, you could simply say thank you or thanks in advance. If you're doing something for them, you might say don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything further, or let me know if you need anything else. One closing that can be used in basically any situation is I look forward to hearing back from you, or I'm looking forward to your reply. This is the one I'm going to use with Jacob because it's nice and professional. It also lets him know that I'm expecting something back from him. If you're emailing a friend or someone that you're very close with and you want to keep it super casual, you could say, "Cheers!" "Take care!" or "Talk to you soon!" Some more professional options are "Best regards!" or "All the best!" or simply "Thank you!" For very official documents or formal emails, you can say "Sincerely." I'm asking Jacob for a favor, so I'm going to just say, Thank you. Keep it simple. Finally, our last step, step 7, is your signature. You write your name and maybe your email address or your company info afterwards. And that's it. We just wrote a nice professional email. This is always my routine first thing in the morning while I drink my coffee. I check my to-do list, my schedule, and my email. I finished just in time for my meeting with Gem. I'm about to hop on a call with Gem. She's a fellow teacher that we've been working with lately. It's just a quick check-in, but we also need to tie up some loose ends about an upcoming event that we're collaborating on. Hopefully the Wi-Fi isn't too spotty and we don't have any technical difficulties. Time to log in. Hey, Gem, how's it going? Good, how are you? I'm good, thank you so much for joining me today.
Of course, anytime.
I just wanted to touch base with you about our upcoming event. I thought it would be a good idea to go over some of the details. Oh yeah, definitely.
Let's.
All right, so I just want to double check. I'm in charge of the awards and you're taking care of the game, is that right?
That's right.
Yeah, that sounds good to me. Actually, I had an idea I wanted to run by you, if that's okay. Yeah, awesome. Let's hear it. Yeah, that sounds good to me. Let me just make sure that Hong is on board too, and then we can move forward with that.
Sure, great.
Just keep me in the loop and let me know if there are any changes. Definitely, will do. Thank you so much, Jem, and I'll talk to you again soon. That was a great meeting with Jem, and now I'm going to record an MP3 file because that was at the top of my to-do list and I want to knock it out right away. I'll be recording an audio file of the script for our latest worksheet.
Uh-uh-uh.
Mic test, mic test. I have to clear my throat. Ahem. Ahem. I just finished up. I've had a very productive morning so far, but now it's time to head to the office. Let's get out of here. Headphones, charger. Laptop. I think I've got everything. I'm walking to a bus stop now so I can hop on a bus and go to the office. Ugh, I just missed my bus. I hate when that happens. Now I have to wait for the next one. Kamsahamnida. It's not really rush hour, so I thought I would get a seat, but the bus is still pretty packed. My commute takes about 45 minutes to an hour one way, so I'm going to be standing for a while. Yes, I snagged a seat. I get off at the next stop. Hachin! We're about to start our meeting.
The point of today's meeting is to brainstorm our new Kakao service that we're about to launch. What do you think? Do you want to share your thoughts on that?
Yeah, I think we're on the same page. We just need to nail down some of the details.
Before we wrap, let's confirm some action items. Okay, meeting adjourned.
Good job, boss. The secret is letting him think he's the boss, but really I'm the boss. I just sat down at my desk. Which means it's time to get down to business. I have to multitask a bit today because I have two projects that I need to finish up. I'm working on developing a new worksheet, and I also have to update our free Notion page. Let's get to it. I'm putting my headphones on so I can get in the zone. When I work, I usually listen to a Taylor Swift playlist on YouTube, but it's the instrumental only one because I need to focus. My stomach is growling. It's time for a lunch break. I'm having a pretty late lunch today because our meeting ran late and then I wanted to finish up a few things after, so I'm extra hungry now. I ordered some spicy food to help relieve some stress. Gamsahamnida! Wow, look at this spread. I hope my eyes weren't bigger than my stomach. Let's see.
I love rabokki.
Tapioca.
It's kind of my guilty pleasure. That has a kick to it. I'm responding to some of your comments on our latest video while I eat. We finished Almost everything, but we're taking the kimbap to go. Did you put it on the company card? Company card?
What company card? My card.
That's the perk of eating lunch with your boss. It's free. I need a boost of energy to make it through the rest of this day. I'm back at home and I'm going to film a short-form video. I post on Instagram and TikTok and YouTube Shorts every single night because consistency is key. I like experimenting with my content and trying different strategies to see what works. I love this part of the job though because it's creative work. Let's hope this video goes viral. I haven't eaten much galbi before and I'm not a huge meat eater. I ate a ton of bibimbap when I first came to Korea. I would say this is pretty accurate for me. I'm setting up my workstation now. A walking pad and a standing desk are two of the best investments that I've ever made. I'm also going to put on my blue light glasses because I've been staring at screens all day today and I need to protect my eyes. A big project That I've been working on lately is writing a book that will be released later this year. I have to submit my first draft to the publishing company for revisions by the end of the month, so I've got a lot of work to do. I've been dealing with a little bit of writer's block, but I'm hoping to have a breakthrough through today. My goal is to write 2 chapters, so wish me luck. Success! I'm going to look at my to-do list and see what I accomplished today. I wrote 2 chapters of my book, so I can check that off. I updated my Notion page. I filmed a Shorts. I haven't edited yet. I made some progress developing this worksheet, but I didn't finish yet, so I'll probably have to push this back to tomorrow. And I recorded my MP3 file, so it's been a pretty productive day today. I just finished dinner and now I'm going to edit some Shorts. This is definitely the best part of working from home. I can work in bed wearing my PJs. I need my beauty sleep since I'm on camera so much. But first, let me make sure that my editor is still working. Are you still working?
Yeah. Good.
Do not enter until you're done.
Bye!
My editor is working overtime tonight, but I'm going to sleep. Check out the pinned comment below and I'll see you next time. Good night everyone! I just finished work, so I'm going to show you my night routine. In this video, I'm going to teach you some English vocabulary and expressions that you can use in your daily life. Let's get started. I'm about to cook some soybean paste stew for dinner. I already had most of the ingredients on hand, so I just dropped by the grocery store to pick up this soup packet, which is doenjang jjigae. That is soybean paste stew in English. I'll start by chopping up some vegetables on my cutting board. We've got zucchini and some potatoes. I'm cutting the zucchini lengthwise first. I try not to eat packaged food too much, but once in a while it's really nice on nights where I'm super busy and want something quick and easy. And it's better than getting Coupang Eats again, right? I order Coupang Eats way too much. At least this has some fresh veggies in it. I love these one-pot meals. I'm going to start by boiling the zucchini and the potato because they take a little bit of time to cook. I'll add the soup in a little bit later. I'm not filling the pot. I'm putting just a little bit in to soften these up. And now we wait. While I'm waiting on that, I'll prepare my tofu. I love tofu. I ate so much of it when I was vegan. I was vegan for 10 years, so it was my main source of protein. I'm draining the tofu. I think this actually has tofu already in it, but I could use some extra protein. I've been going to the gym lately, trying to get some big muscles. I'm cutting the tofu into small cubes. I'm able to pierce everything with a fork so we can move on to our next step. I need to drain the water, but I'm too lazy to get out a strainer, so I'll just use a ladle to get some of the water out. Ladle is both a noun and a verb. So this is a ladle, but It's also the action. I'm using a ladle to ladle the water out. Now I'm going to pour the soup in the pot and add the tofu. On the packet, it says this only takes like 3 minutes to cook on the stove. I'm adding some of the extra tofu in as well. I'm putting the rest of the tofu in a Tupperware. I'll eat it later this week. We don't have a rice cooker, so we eat a lot of microwave rice, and you've got to eat it with some seaweed. I'll just pop this in the microwave for a minute or two. Oh no, I'm almost out of kimchi.
Ugh.
I eat too much kimchi. I love it. I have a few other store-bought side dishes as well. Tonight we're having perilla leaves and black beans. I love both of these side dishes.
Do you like the sour one or the newer one?
I like all kimchi. All kimchi is good kimchi. So focused. This is the side dish you need a partner to help you, you know? One person helps peel it.
If I'm doing that and then if a girl helping me out, you get—
Definitely not. Why would I? What? I mean, I would probably help first, but would you get mad if a boy helped me? No response. Let me show off my chopstick skills a little bit here. Level 10, level 10. I'm seasoned, but I'm impatient, so I will use a spoon. I'm ladling some soup into my bowl. Look at this spread. Not bad for a 10-minute meal. I'm starving, so I'm gonna dig right in. Not as good as mom's, but it's not bad.
Oh no!
Fail. My chopsticks went right through the seaweed. I feel like this is still a pretty healthy packaged meal. When I think of meals that are ready to eat in the US, I don't think they're as healthy. After a long day, I need a cold beer. This one is non-alcoholic though, which is great because I can still enjoy a drink knowing I won't have a hangover tomorrow. Tomorrow. As I get older, my hangovers are getting worse and worse. Such a satisfying sound. Cheers! Refreshing. These days I'm watching The Vampire Diaries, which was a really popular show in the US in the early 2000s, but I had never watched it before. It's a great show to binge-watch because there are 8 seasons and each season has like 20 episodes. It's a little bit corny, but it's addicting and I love it because it's an easy watch. I don't have to pay close attention and can just have it playing in the background. My favorite character is Daemon. He's kind of a bad guy in the beginning, But as the show goes on, you can see him start to soften up and he's actually a big teddy bear. Damon is chindere. Tough on the outside but sweet on the inside. I don't know if it's true, but I've heard that's also the stereotype of Busan boys. The cameraman is a Busan boy and I can confirm it's true in his case. It's almost like a soap opera.
But with the handsome boys.
No, not handsome at all. I'm putting the rest of the soup into a Tupperware. I'll eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The worst part of cooking. I hate doing the dishes. I start by pumping some dish soap onto the rag. I miss having a dishwasher. Actually, I still have a dishwasher. He's just busy holding the camera right now. Do you want to switch sides here?
5 bucks.
Done! You're doing amazing, sweetie. Good job, Kylie. You're doing amazing, sweetie. The dishes are done and drying on the drying rack. I'm going to wipe down the counters now. I just use this all-purpose spray and some paper towel. I don't deep clean during the week, but I do these small daily chores to help keep the house clean and tidy throughout the week. Our trash is overflowing, so it's time to take out the trash. I'm putting a new trash bag in the trash can. My recycling has piled up, so I'm going to take this with me. It's time to sort the recycling. After dinner, I like to take a short walk to help with digestion. When I walk in the morning, I usually listen to music or talk to my family on the phone, but at night I like to just think and reflect on my day.
Why you walking like Aditi?
Who do you think I learned it from? Sides. It's good for my posture. After my walk, I changed into my PJs and now it's time to do my skincare routine. First, I use a cotton pad and eye makeup remover to remove my eye makeup. It's so hard getting all the mascara off, but I just keep wiping it very gently. And eventually it comes off. I'm putting my hair up because it's time to cleanse my face. My favorite cleanser is the Manyo Cleansing Foam. First, I need to get my face a little bit wet. Then I squeeze a bit of the cleanser onto my fingertips and lather it in my hands. Before spreading it all over my face. I also make sure to get my neck really well. Then I rinse it all off. After rinsing my face, I pat it down with a towel to dry it off. Next, I use one of these dark spot pads from Abib. I love spending time out in the sun, so I definitely see some dark spots on my face. I've also been breaking out a little bit lately. I woke up with a big pimple on my nose. I don't know if you can still see it, but it's driving me crazy. Next, I go in with this Rejuval PD-RN cream. I bought this at the Korean pharmacy after seeing a lot of TikToks about it. They say it's the miracle cream for anti-aging. I don't know if it's true, but I might as well try it. To finish up, I use this Astura moisturizing cream. This is one of my favorite skincare products. I have pretty dry skin and I feel like this helps a lot. We are done! My skin is super glowy now. You know what time it is? It's tea time! At night, I don't like to drink green tea or black tea because they contain caffeine, so I stick to herbal tea such as this peppermint and spearmint tea. I'm grabbing a mug out of the cupboard and putting the tea bag into the mug. I'm turning on the faucet to fill up the kettle. Let's wait for the water to boil. I always like to have a candle lit at night. And one thing about me is I'm a matchbook girl. I love matchbooks. They always have cute designs on them, and there's something romantic about lighting a match. The scent of this candle is fresh herbs and lemon zest. It smells very fresh, and calming. I love this vibe. I really hate the bright white overhead lights. I like small warmer lights. It makes your house feel more cozy. Even in the summer, I like to cuddle up with a blanket at night. I have to blow on my tea because it's so hot. I don't want to burn my tongue. I feel like this is healing me from the inside out. I don't have a coffee table, so I need to just set it on the floor. Minimalist life, remember? When I did my morning routine, I showed you guys this journal, the Five Minute Journal. This morning, I filled out the morning section, and now that it's nighttime, I'll be filling in the night section. There are two parts in the night section. The first one says highlights of the day, and the second one says what did I learn today. And I'll also read today's quote. Be present in all things and thankful for all things. And that's by Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou was a very famous poet and writer and activist. She's really amazing and inspirational. One highlight of my day was going to the gym and getting a good workout in. I've been working with a personal trainer at the gym lately, and today she killed me. In a good way though. But I think tomorrow I'll be super sore. Another highlight was the beautiful weather. It was so sunny today, but it's starting to get a little bit cooler in the morning and at night. I think fall is right around the corner. My final highlight of the day would probably be talking with my family and friends. I miss my loved ones back home, but I always try my hardest to keep in touch with them. The final question is, what did I learn today? Today I learned that it's very important to appreciate the small things. Today was a very simple day and nothing extraordinary happened, but small things about today brought me joy. It's almost time for bed, but I have some homework to finish up first. I recently started going to Korean classes again. These classes that I'm taking are actually provided through the government. I must take these classes if I want to become a permanent resident here in Korea. Right now we're learning about ways to describe people's personalities. I learned a really fun word. It's mudukduk. I think it's such a fun word to say and has a really hilarious meaning. The cameraman is a little bit mudukduk. Mudukduk hansarami ya. It's It's time for bed, so I'm setting my alarm. I always set 3 alarms. The first one is at 6, then I have one at 6:15 and 6:30 just in case, but I always try my best not to hit the snooze button. Let's plug this in and go to bed. I keep my phone in the living room. Overnight so that I'm not tempted to scroll in bed. It also forces me to get out of bed to come out here and shut off the alarm. I always wear a silk bonnet to bed to protect my hair while I sleep. And the last thing I do every single night before going to sleep is read my book. I love to read. I'm a huge bookworm. I'm still reading Colorless by Murakami, and I'm about a third of the way through it now. I'm yawning. I started to nod off a little bit while reading, so I think it's time to turn off the lights and go to bed. It's really annoying having to get out of bed to turn off the lights, but thankfully I have one of those systems where it's automatic. I'll show you how it works in a second. That's it for my night routine. Check out the pinned comment below and good night! Watch this.
Huh?
Light! I gotta get that fixed. There's system error. System error. Ah, hey! What the?
It worked!
