A woman celebrates Parents' Day in Busan with her in-laws at a 5-star hotel, surprising them with champagne and a stay. They eat ramen by a bridge, take photo booth pictures in cowboy hats, and she calls her mom in the US to compare how Korea and America mark the holiday differently.

안녕하세요!
Let's pop some butter.
Woo!
Our unforgettable experience.
Unforgettable. Happy Parents' Day! I am in Busan to meet up with my in-laws for Parents' Day. It's kind of a miracle that I made it here in one piece. The taxi ride from the KTX station was a bit wild. I wanted to kiss the ground when I got here. Everyone says that Busan is so chill and laid back. But have those people ever ridden in a taxi? It felt like The Fast and the Furious. Anyways, I know that carnations are usually the traditional flower for Parents' Day, but my mom likes the color pink, so I got her this pink bouquet, and we booked them a 5-star hotel, and they have no clue. So we're going to surprise them and meet them in the lobby there. Let's go! He looks so cute. Annyeonghaseyo! Hey! Oh boy, you're welcome. Good to see you.
Hi!
Yeah, we got lucky today.
Mm-hmm.
Ah, Rincon! Thank you so much!
Recently I bought Callie Anderson's lecturing books. I speak now one chapter, daily routine. I feel a little bit dehydrated, okay? And then I open the bottle and take a sip. Oh, refreshing!
I think she's improving. Vacation starts.
Pause and listen. 1, 2, 3, 4.
The air is so fresh.
The weather is very good.
It's so sunny.
Oh, it's so sunny.
Yeah. Wow, that's so cool. I've never seen anything like that before in my life. He literally was a pigeon whisperer. He called them from the sky and they landed right on his head. It reminded me of the pigeon lady in Home Alone. If you know, you know. Monster Americano espresso mixed with an energy drink sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen. This is dangerous. Only in Korea. This is why Hong is invited. Another job.
So cool.
Beautiful. What happened to like father like son? You know, you can learn from your dad. Hi, where is the complimentary champagne? On the 8th floor. Okay. Thank you.
Please enter your operator code.
Hi, is it possible to get 2 champagne glasses up to our room? In your room, there are cups in your minibar, but you need more? Oh, there's some in the minibar already?
Yeah.
Oh, okay, I didn't realize it. Is it like in the pull-out drawer? Yeah, if you need more cups, please call back again. Okay, thank you so much. I didn't see any in here. Can you tell I'm not used to luxury? Okay, it's champagne time. Can you help me open it?
I can.
I'm too scared. I can do it. Careful, Mom. Yeah, don't get hit by the cork.
Let's pop some bottle.
You're a pro. Oh, I should pour for you. Congratulations, you're a parent today. Thank you so much, Carrie.
I love you.
Cheers.
I love you. Cheers.
Love Shot. I got the bottle. Happy day. Me too. A very happy day for me too. With my son, with my daughter-in-law. Let's drink to that. Don't judge us. I know we just had a bottle of champagne in our room, but we had to take advantage of the complimentary champagne that they have here. And I'm so happy we did because they have many bottles and lots of snacks to enjoy as well. So I'm impressed! This is a good perk. I can never go back to anything below 5-star now. Cheers! We're living the good life. They serve free champagne here for 3 hours. You can definitely get lit here. We were hoping to go grab some seafood at the fish market and have a picnic in front of this beautiful view of the bridge, but unfortunately it's empty and we saw a sign that drinking is prohibited, so we are going somewhere else. What a shame though, I was really excited to eat here. Look at that view, that's amazing. Oh, I kind of want a shikkei. I don't know why I'm in the mood for shikkei. Callie beer, of course. I love the ramen machines they have. I'm pouring in the seasoning and now I'll add the hot water. Normal ramen and shijak. I'm cracking the egg. It's like going to the Han River but you're in Busan and get the view of the bridge instead. I like it. Very cool. Did the cab driver recommend this? To us, or you found it?
I found it.
Oh, good tour guide! This makes up for the other park being closed. I'll forgive you this time.
The party is already started without me.
Come on, join the party.
He's going to open the bottle with the chopstick.
Oh, okay, let's see it. Impressive, impressive. That's a good party trick. Welcome to Busan! Happy to be here with you.
Cheers! So everyone cheers! We rent this place.
Yes, private.
Oh, private.
Very nice.
Our unforgettable experience.
Unforgettable.
Empty, empty.
He ate and left no crumbs. We found the perfect spot to enjoy the view of the bridge. It's called Pyeongsang Kongwang, and I highly recommend it if you come to Busan. It was so nice because nobody was here. I couldn't believe it. We had the place all to ourselves. We ate some ramen, drank some beer, and just enjoyed the atmosphere here. A night out in Korea is not complete without taking some photos in the photo booth. So let's go take some pictures. They've already got their props picked out. Cowboy, cowgirl.
Oh, me too.
We've got our cowboy hats hats and our sunglasses on. We're ready. We're choosing the color of the border now. Okay, I think it looks good. No filters needed because we're all gorge already. Just kidding, there is a filter.
Print!
This is so cute. I'm so happy we did this all together. I'll never forget tonight. We have to put it in this little envelope to protect it. This is precious. Mom hooked us up like always. Okay, thank you so much. Happy Parents' Day! See you in the morning. In the US, there's no such thing as Parents' Day. Instead, we have Mother's Day and Father's Day, so each parent gets their own special day, but Since I'm in Korea and it's Parents' Day, I still feel like I should call my parents back home and wish them a happy Parents' Day. Unfortunately, because of the time difference, my dad is already at work, but I'm going to try calling my mom. Let's see if she picks up the phone.
Hi, honey.
Hi, happy Parents' Day.
Oh, thanks. I didn't know it was Parents' Day.
It sure is.
Oh, well, thank you.
You're welcome. I wish you were here in Busan. I've been thinking about you a lot.
That was very sweet of you, honey. I appreciate you calling. I was shocked when I saw what time it was and you were calling. Well, tell Hong's mom and dad I said happy Parents' Day to them.
I will.
Okay, and that I love and miss them too.
I will.
Okay, sweetie, love you guys. Love you.
