A woman moved from Mongolia to the US in second grade speaking no English, so the school held her back to first grade. She cried on day one but became fluent in three months through immersion, using a SpongeBob meme to show how fast the turnaround was.
In 3 months I was fluent. Was English hard when you first moved to the US? I went to America when I was in 2nd grade, but I went a grade down because I didn't know how to speak English, so I became 1st grade. Because I remember in Mongolia I did learn English, but like basic English, say hi, hello. I remember the exact first day I went to school, I had no English knowledge whatsoever, and I remember just people speaking to me in a foreign language, and I remember crying. The SpongeBob meme, 3 months later. I just knew how to How to speak the language.
