U.S. immigration agents detained roughly 475 workers, mostly South Korean nationals, at Hyundai's Georgia construction site in the largest single-site raid in U.S. history. The $7.6 billion plant was set to create 1,200 jobs. The host urges careful handling of each case rather than blanket enforcement.
Hello, everybody. A massive U.S. immigration raid at a Hyundai construction site in Georgia resulted in the detention of about 475 workers.
We need all work to end on the site right now.
Most of them South Korean nationals. From September 2023 to September 2024, U.S. immigration authorities deported about 46 South Korean nationals. Less than 0.02% of the total. Um, it's considered the largest single-site enforcement operation in US history. This tells me this is something the government has been working on. That's big. Georgia officials have touted the Hyundai Metaplant America site as a game changer for the state, valued at $7.6 billion, employing 1,200 people. I'm not taking a side for it or against it. I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinions. My hope is that each case is handled fairly. I guess my heart kind of goes out to those people because I have a daughter that lives in a different country abroad, and if anything like this ever happened to her, I would be very worried. A lot of their friends and families are wondering where their loved one is, and I saw two where they had to get special aircraft to board these detainees and ship them back to South Korea. I see here Trump defended ICE, of course, saying, "I would say they were illegal aliens and ICE was just doing its job." They were illegal aliens and ICE was just doing its job. I hope they look into it deeply enough to make sure that they're deporting the right people. For the right reasons. Um, hopefully it's not just a shoot-from-the-hip type operation, and it affects America here too. I mean, that, that's a huge Hyundai plant in Georgia, so that's going to affect a lot of different things. And we will see where this takes us from here. So I guess keep an eye on the news. I'm getting information as it trickles in here a little bit. Thank you for watching and take care of yourselves. Have a good day or a good night. Bye-bye.
