Do I look nerdy? I'm on a roll. What do you call this in English? It's my go-to these days. Jo hum hind ji maan. I'm going to show you my study routine. I'll teach you English expressions related to studying. I have an upcoming test, so I'll be hitting the books and studying hard all day today. I've been taking Korean language classes and I've had almost perfect attendance, but to be honest, I've been slacking off on my homework lately. So today I have to cram and catch up on my assignments. Let's study together. I'll be studying Korean, but you can practice your English by watching this video. So grab your notebook, get comfy, and let's get started. First things first, I'm going to set up my desk for studying. I like having a space that's clean and simple, so I'm going to clear everything off of my desk. Thank you. I just like to keep a notebook and pen and a water bottle on my desk. I will also be using my computer, so I'm going to put on my blue light glasses. Wow, do I look nerdy? I'm going to start with vocabulary because it's what I struggle with the most. I have a terrible memory and forget things so easily, so I use an app called Quizlet to help me memorize key vocabulary. While making flashcards, I like to listen to the pronunciation and practice saying the words out loud so that I can get used to saying them naturally. Gua shuan. Orchard. Am I right? Yes! Greenhouse. Final greenhouse. Same same, right? I'm on a roll. Then I review the words by taking quizzes and playing little study games. Yujung? Yujung! Is it hot in here? Wow, you really did a Study. Hey, I told you my vocab is bad. Okay, process of elimination here. It's not to build. Oh, I think it's itinerary, schedule. Am I right? Oh, no. What was it? You're right. Ayy! I shouldn't doubt myself. By the way, I made a free Quizlet set for you guys as a small gift. So that you can review the vocabulary from the morning routine episode. I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful. I need some coffee, so let's head to a coffee shop and continue my studies there. I always study best at cafes. Maybe it's the background noise or just the cozy atmosphere. Drinking coffee with this view is the perfect pick-me-up. I'm going to do some homework in my workbook. As I go through my workbook, I like to highlight or underline words that I don't know so that I can look them up later. Hey cameraman, what do you call this in English? Sharpie. No, in English. Sharpie. No, that's a marker. It's called a mechanical pencil in English. It's kind of a hard word. Mechanical pencil. To help me stay focused, I use a Pomodoro timer and study in intervals. So I'll study for 25 minutes straight and then I'll take a quick 5-minute break. It helps me be productive and stay on track. I usually just find one on YouTube. Okay, my timer is set and I'm going to put my phone to the side so I don't get distracted. Let's get to work. The timer just went off, so it's time for a brain break. Taking short breaks is very important so you don't burn out. I'm going to use my break to just relax and scroll on my phone. What are you watching? None of your business. So shady stuff? No, I'm checking our comments on Instagram. I'm starting to zone out, so it's It's time to go for a walk. I honestly hate sitting all day, so whenever I get the chance, I like to take a short walk outside and get some fresh air. These days while I walk, I like to listen to the MP3 files from my Korean class. I'm trying to make it a daily habit, and I've definitely made some progress with my listening lately. It's such an easy way to stay consistent with my studies. I need some fuel to make it through the rest of the day, so I came to the convenience store to grab some snacks. Banana milk and tuna triangle kimbap is a classic combo. 안서랑은밥? Mhm. 감사합니다. Now it's time for my least favorite part of studying, grammar. As I study, I take notes in my notebook. Writing things down and making my own example sentences helps me understand better. These days I've been practicing the grammar point 'nundago,' 'urago,' 'nyago,' 'jago.' I always get these mixed up and it's pretty frustrating, but the more I practice, the quicker I'll get the hang of it. This time I'm going to listen to some music while I study. I usually listen to heavy metal while studying grammar to get rid of the rage inside. Just kidding. I listen to instrumental music that is calming, like lo-fi or acoustic covers. Heavy metal. I always love a good Taylor Swift instrumental playlist. It's my go-to these days. Why are you making fun of me? Hmm? You should be supporting me. Time for a snack break. While I eat, I'm going to watch a show on Netflix. These days I'm watching a show called 'Kenmaru Cha-Cha-Cha.' I've been challenging myself by watching with Korean subtitles only. No English. It's still really hard for me, but sometimes I surprise myself with how much I can actually understand. So it's been a good confidence boost for me, and it feels good to level up a little bit. If you like to study while watching TV series, I recommend a Chrome extension called Language Reactor. It shows dual subtitles and lets you pause and review words instantly. You can click on each word to see the definition and listen to its pronunciation. So delicious. Okay, I'm done procrastinating. It's time for speaking practice. Lately I've been doing shadowing while walking on my walking pad. Shadowing is when you listen and repeat right after the speaker. I usually play a short audio clip and try to mimic the speaker's pronunciation and intonation as closely as possible. It's definitely not easy, but honestly, this part of studying is really fun for me. 저믈하지만. Don't laugh. 저믈지만. Wow, it's already getting dark outside. I really studied all day today. Thank you so much for being my study buddy. I hope I ace my test. I know that Suneung is also right around the corner, so fighting! See you next time. Goodbye.
