Cameron Herold says leaders focus on problems and growth but skip praise. His fix: when you assign a big project or point out an issue, also name two things your team did well. Aim to praise twice as often as you correct.

One thing that I struggle with with a leader is the amount of praise that we need to give to our team. And the reality is, as leaders, we're always looking for the next problem, the next project, more growth, adding more goals, building the business a little bit bigger than it is. And it's hard to remember to give praise all the time. But the reality is, if we don't give praise, our team is starving for that. So a good system that I try to put in place is every time I give the team more projects, bigger goals, moving something forward or even showing them something that's going wrong is I try to point out a couple things that they did really well, a couple of goals that they hit that they've worked really hard on and say thank you for, maybe some core values that they're living and really praise twice as often as they give feedback.
